Some schools in Japan have low educational quality, like when me and my family went there for a vacation, I saw this group of schoolgirls who are in 6th grade or something... who are still studying how to pronounce "Apple" correctly.

If they're 6th graders, it's likely that it's their first year of English language lessons. Japanese focus primarily on writing and grammar, not pronunciation. There are no Japanese sounds to correctly say "apple," so Japanese have to learn the word as well as learn each individual sound and figure out how to say it together.

It's not an issue with education level, it's the fact that it's their first year of English and all the sounds in that word are unfamiliar.

They don't have school buses. And all their stuff is in one classroom, whereas I have one teacher for each subject.

The Japanese school system has it's amazing things and pitfalls.

The amazing thing is that Japan's school system is largely very good. Everyone gets an equal high-quality education. This is more than can be said for the US.

With that said, The Japanese teach students memorization by ROTE. Many of the students don't remember a damn thing when they are done with their exams.
