Gerneraly: heres my take on the N word. IF your young, it doesnt mean a thing to you personaly. What do u know about slavery/ the discrimination your parents or grandparents went through during the slave times up til lthe 1980s really?I mean it was young people who turned it into a term of endearment in the first place. they were ignorant of the pain the word caused to the much older generations. As for older people, they just want the word gone. it makes sense, they had to hear it in a time when it wasnt an endearment.Combined with the pain of death and discrimination, it doesnt have a pretty past to them. i dont know how or why this split between the generations happened, and i dont really know where white people stand on the issue. America is a country chalk full of double and triple standards, thats nothing new, but i kind of believe to just use it out of the presense of the older generations just out of respect. because to both whites and blacks who r young, it really is just a curse word like ne other. peace over war I think that you’re accepting the popular myth that African Americans are not subject to intense discrimination today, and that African Americans are not living in a world very much influenced by slaver and the prejudice against their people. The Tuskegee experiment injected their community with sexually transmitted diseases, causing a serious epidemic. The bloods and the kryps are both the immediate consequences of slavery. So, even if they don’t live in the times of slavery the African American community still feels the whip-lash of servility to this day. hey, all i was saying is that the younger generation in general doesnt really know about the N word on a personal level, thats why they continue to use it. some young white kids use the n word just as freely as ne blacks. and im well aware that racism goes on today, and the effects of slavery can be seen in todays society. But the younger generation tend to be ignorant of all that, and make "claims" about being treated unfairly. They (some) use it as a crutch, even when it makes little sense to do so. they r ultimatly the diggers of thier own grave (the ones not in poverty). they try to emulate the negative effects of the hip hop culture, and by doing so create thier own problems when in fact they r living in the middle class if not higher, sure, some do experience discrimination, but rarly on the level of thier ancesstors, unless they walk into the wrong nieghborhood or the wrong neck of the woods. then again, i guess u could consider the whole "white flight" thing as discrimination, but both sides oviously have no problem with it ne way tell me about the bloods and kryps, how r they the consequence of slavery? peace over war |

All i know is that the supposed "N-word" comes from the Latin word meaning "Black" which is "Niger" like in the black African nation Niger or NIGERia. And the supposed meaning is suppose to mean "Ignorant fool" in irony several decades after slavery sense the meaning in the word in the black American community to this day. Although i don't understand other blacks in the community when "Nigger" and "Nigga" are not equally offensive. For a black man to say to another black man "sup my nigga" and for a white man to say the same thing a get nearly beaten to death, is nothing more than niggerish behavior in itself. In America, i've met white people who came off as Niggers in themselves, displaying nothing more than ignorant arrogant behavior. I mean it certainly takes a Nigger to know a Nigger right.

I personally don't like that word. If I was a race where my skin is dark, and someone called me by the "N" word, I would've gone up to them and tell them, I'm _____ (whatever race I was). Not unless they were really dangerous, then I would walk away. The way I think of it, when someone is called that, it puts them in the "black" category. The same one with all the "black" drug dealers, but of course there are succesful people in that list, but people don't immediately think of that. Then the person assumes he's bad. For example, someone calls another person a Muslim. Usually some people would think of terrorist, first thing, then they assume he's bad because of that stereotype. But the word is now used as a nickname as well, and as long they use it privately, I think it's fine.

Its funny how blacks today saying the n word when Martin Luther King hates the word. If you watch the show The Boondocks episode called, The "S"- word. That episode pretty much sums up the problem. @ JJT2, idk what you meant about Crips and Bloods. All they do is blast on each other.
