They say that Gensai Kawakami (the guy that Kenshin from Rurouni Kenshin was based on) looked like a woman at first glance. Which is interesting because it was everyones thought in real life, not an anime. Everyone thought he was a chick....then he kicked their ass because he was wupposedly the strongest fighter in the hitokiri.

The term is androgynous, if no one has mentioned it yet.

It's certainly a recurring occurence in anime, but I think it's also common for fashion statements in men's clothing Japan to get out of hand sometimes, like women's fashions on the catwalk, or the red carpet. Maybe it's that?

Or maybe it's just the devious minds of female manga-ka and animators

Ahahaha....Yakita Japan..the chick with purple hair a dude...yeah I saw that.....Was hella funny...I thought it was a guy at first ...then I had doubts about that and thought it was a chick......Fruits basket too with the year of the monkey where the guys is a chick...omg....some reason I could tell it was a guy but had doubts again. LoL Kind of reminds me a lot of the umm....anime LOVELESS....I only saw episode 1 and stopped there. BEWARE for those who look into LOVELESS..its has gay relationships or so im told. Not that I have anything against gay's. Just to inform those who would get offended by it. security measures.

I dont want to ruin the fun...but ever think of class? The higher your class status the fancier your clothes get and the way males percieve themselve as beautiful so they become in our minds femanine....due to societies brainwash? Its a matter of fashion and status. That is all it is to me anyways....I hope I didnt silence the tread. I think ill just add weather I like your guy's comments if it keeps up like that.
