Is Alex Mercer The Hero or Is He The Bad Guy?
That's what I want to know. I mean he's not really out to get civilians but he kills so many people. In a way I see him as the good guy. I mean all he's trying to do is finding out what the Gentec doctors did to him...But then he sorta killed innocent people to get the information he needed.
Okay That's just what I think. Tell me your opininons.

Mercer is an anti-hero he fights for the right reasons just goes about them the wrong way. Furthermore if you finish the web of intrigue you can catch a glimpse of what rly happened in the subway.

Ok so we know that mercer was a key player in creating the blacklight virus but when he heard about the Hope Incident he stole the virus and ran. Which led to the subway scene in which mercer was gunned down and accidentally released the virus on the city.

I think whether he is "good" or not depends on the player  If the player avoids killing civilians where possible then Alex is good as he fights the virus. If (like me) the player uses the civilians to keep Alex alive, then at best he becomes amoral, at worst a monster. |

Possibly a anti-hero because he did save NYC from a bomb, fight a evil infection but the way he is a anti hero is because he killed so much people. Infected, civillian and blackwatch

He is an anti-hero, technically. Though I would call any "hero", anti or not, that kills the people he protects to protect them as a bit flawed and/or crazy.

Um...hope that no one minds me using this, since this forum seems to be dead and all...
Alex Mercer appears to be the kind of bio-weapon that would kill you in a heart-beat, and eat. The truth, unfortunately, is exactly what it appears to be; he IS the guy that killed every person in NYC, twice for that matter!!!

Click to show or hide Now (in [Prototype2]), a year after the virus was 'destroyed,' he re-appears to once again 'reawaken' the virus, now called the "Mercer Virus" and spreads chaos with his personal army of Evolved (individuals who were given the virus and have become like Alex Mercer). |

He's an anti-hero like the others said. But, like another person said, if you choose not to kill civillians, then he's a hero. It just depends on what you choose.
Though, I decided that I would do whatever the hell I wanted, just because it's a game, and that involved killing civillians. |

Love the first game...what the hell were they thinking changing it from Alex mercer and killing him off in the second as for it Anti Hero though I did avoid killing as many non infected civilians as possible which his nearly impossible lol
