I could make a non-PG comment about that cough but won't. The story (and trust me even after seeing the end of Smackdown THEN reading some of the post show reports, I'm still badly confused, but then again I bought on discount once the Undertaker comics so I'm likely just that way because of them) is that he was vegetated but not dead (even if he's the Deadman-I know confusing!) so he's like trying to recover from whatever mojo Kane cast on him to become the dominant brother now. I guess he's playing the role or it's old age, but then someone sent me a pic to compare Taker circa the 1990s-2000s and today and well he's definitely not hitting any tanning booths like Sheamus to say the least.

But I can assure you it's not a legit illness (aside if he caught confusion disease from the WWE writers who make some stories more confusing than the anime I watch and that's saying A LOT). He's good as far as breathing-it will be more telling in ring if he can still go as I loved Taker back when he was young but we all grow old and the body can't go the way we want over time. He's talked retirement but thinks unlike HBK he can go maybe a bit more considering he's one of the few guys with sway to get time off anyime he wants (and they just write the latest disappearance/vegetative state/"death/resurrection" angle when needed) so he likely will last one more year but then again, it's up to him and his outside life from the ring.

so ur saying the cough is a work? i dunno about that, but for lack of a better answer, ill take it... my daughter been saying the same thing - "his cough is cuz he was in a vegetative state!" but ive been trying to convince her that hes coughing cuz hes old and dying! almost made her cry AHAH! kids will believe anything...

i didnt know that ppl who come out of vegetative states cough like that aahahaha! but if its a work, then its kinda odd. he doesnt have to sell it like that. i personally think its cuz hes intentionally rasping his voice during promos. we all know his voice dont sound like that normally. lose the cough, Taker! u dont have to sell the 'vegetative state' angle anymore!

ive been saying it for a while now that Taker has only about a year or 2 at the most left in the ring. i been telling my kid that his time is almost up and she dont wanna see one of her favs go. i just hope he 'passes the torch' to somebody worthy. not Cena or HHH cuz i HATE them BOTH.

remember when Undertaker used to wear a mask? not a luchador mask or a leather one like Kane or Mankind, but a hard plastic one. they molded it and painted it to look all demonic and all that, and they didnt mention its purpose on air, but it was obviously a protective mask and i believe it was cuz of an orbital bone injury as well. that was looooong time ago! i dont wanna see Taker going out cuz of injuries. he deserves to be sent off in a way that truly honors him. lets hope he stays healthy enough until then...

Well could say it's old age, but death? He's got to be the most killed/resurrected character of all time in pro wrestling aside some stuff in Japan!

As for selling, with that character (and many will say he's special for being able to sell an undead zombie reaper for so long), he works hard on the sell and character, so imitating a vegetative states would be up here. I think it's also habit for him being such an old school like character I doubt he'd even know how to stop doing the angle when in the arenas.

2 is maybe generous but again with his limited schedule and ability to call time off unlike anyone not named HHH or McMahon, he likely can make it barring injury or extenuating circumstances. lol and with you, Cena and HHH, no need of a torch passing there. But I think again look at Taker's character, there won't be another like there likely won't be another HBK, Flair, Hogan etc. The torch he can pass is twofold then if it's not the character: putting young talent over (hence why this Kane angle is rehashing for writers to think of something, an area they've lacked for the last few years now that they keep going back to the well) or the Streak. Personally on the latter, the Streak at this point now should retire intact with him since it's the 1 angle that everyone still gets into every Mania. A few years ago I thought it be best to combine the 2 ideas of passing the torch by having some young new star beat the Streak. But the combination of WWE's unfaithfulness in the youth of today to push anyone past a few months tops, and how Taker really earned that Streak that it's his thing, more than any of his title runs even, that I've changed my mind on the issue. So to pass the torch, best Taker after this Kane angle try to help along some of the youth on Smackdown, or on RAW if they feel he should get 1 more run on the A show (though all depends with him and if he wants to do live TV at his age that often now).

Ah yes on the mask, I recall it was like the NBA protective masks but as you said moulded and painted. I am intrigued too that at such a needed time as Smackdown sags in the ratings waiting on a move to Sy Fy in October he didn't don that mask again when he got the orbital injury, but then I figure go back again to his calls on time off:

I think in the end he's the best judge of his own body and he will judge how much time he's got left to go on. ALSO note that unlike say HBK who is taking his retirement to be with family, he doesn't have kids as far as I know yet, and might decide post in ring career to move into an agent's role like Dean Malenko, Billy Kidman, Pat Patterson, Fit Finlay (if you've noted he's the most recent to be moved into that role), Ricky Steamboat and others in the past or present. I think his locker room presence (as you can tell he's also got a lot of sway on Smackdown with the staff and talent) would be well served past his in ring time in a road agent role.

at Night of Champions, all the titles will be on the line. im aware of all the current feuds and can see how all the matches might pan out... except for one title... The Tag Team Championships

so who will the Hart Dynasty defend the tag titles against at Night of Champions? Skip is injured, so he and Otunga are out. the only teams left are Santino-Koslov and the Usos.

i really hope the Usos get their chance. the Harts need to give it up.they havent done much with their titles since they got them. plus im a huge Usos fan.

but then again, Santino-Koslov might make good champs too! they are waaaay more entertaining right now than the Harts. and the whole Tamina-Santino crush thing could make their lil feud with the Usos a bit interesting, especially with the tag titles in the picture...

i think the Tag division needs a boost and one way to bring it back up is for the Harts to drop the titles.

I was saddened how the Tag Team belts have really fallen just watching RAW alone. Jobbing the Harts to Kane in that messy run in spot with Nexus coming later and WAY too many blackout teleportations. As you noted the plan was Nexus but Skip's injury really threw it into a loop. Another sign they either don't care or got a clue is that even the #1 contender's match of Morrison/Truth vs Rhodes/McIntyre (an intriguing pair but I think Cody needs to run as a singles while maybe Ted Jr. needs another tag partner instead...perhaps the recent loser Joe Hennig of NXT?), we got a NO CONTEST and not even a suggestion of a triple threat. They can correct it in 3 weeks but man it shows it's a mess concerning the tags.

Koslov/Santino, Usos, Dudebusters and Gate Crashers seem all now to be midcard at best or comedy relief tag teams so don't count on them getting the belts.

I won't stay totally negative on it as last night's NXT gave me an idea on how to help the tags:

the Morrison/Truth vs Rhodes/McIntyre was a #1 contenders match? really??? really...

i guess i was taking a leak when they announced that part... really...

Morrison/Truth look good together, but they dont function well, imo... much less Cody/Drew...

i said it long before SummerSlam, the Nexus needs some gold. they need to prove they are a true force in the WWE, and the tag division is crap right now. so kill 2 birds with one stone and make the Nexus Tag Team Champs! too bad the Cornfed Meathead broke his leg or somethin...

Nexus should recruit Hennig and Rotunda, make them the new Champs and call them the new Legacy! ahahaha!

i had a new question for this thread, but i forgot it. my posts in here arent really questions anyway. i just like to talk pro wrestling with ppl. they should re-name this thread Pro Wrestling Discussion, since even knowitalls dont have all the answers...

Yes really I checked on replay it was apparently a #1 contender's match that never resulted in anything-the story of the tag belts.

And yes Skip's leg injury is what's throwing a wrench into the initial plan to get the belts to Nexus, as well as less faith the faction will last past October's Bragging Rights as there's some rumours (and only rumours really) that they split by then and we go back to status quo, which would show panic on WWE Creative again as Nexus has carried the WWE all summer long to now give up on yet another youthful group, but as they say it's hard to change people and the WWE seems to be stuck in pushing only the established (Cena, Orton, HHH, Undertaker, Edge, Jericho, Kane, Rey) without making any new stars that stick (Sheamus, Punk and maybe Miz are the lone ones still near the top aside Nexus who have gotten a youth movement push and that's far from enough considering they kept stopping/starting pushes to the Harts, Usos, Dolph, McIntyre, Swagger, Morrison, Truth, Rhodes, Dibiase, Bryan, Bourne, and many many more over the last few months).

As for season 2 recruits

I'll take the advice on the renaming then so it can handle both questions and general discussion-it's better on the forum to talk since on the Wall as some of the younger members seem to do is bad as there's not enough typing space and worse they tend to forget HOW to use the spoiler button and don't seem to listen to instructions...sigh...Take care and good on discussing it's good relief from when things are confusing or frustrating while spawning proper arguments and discussions!

so WWE was planning for Nexus to be the Tag Champs? wow! that was actually one of the ideas i had for the tag division from a while back(i think i posted something about that before), but i didnt think they'd actually try it. but it really shouldnt matter if Skip is injured. just throw another 2 in there! they have 6! or 5... or watever they got now...

it would be a shame to see Nexus disband after all theyve done. they should at LEAST stick around for a year. they got ALL the heat right now. if they disband, i hope the writers have a good direction for future storylines.

i hesitated at first, but then i ended up peeking at the spoiler above. good thing it wasnt really a spoiler, since it explained all wat happened after the fact, and the rest looked to me like speculation, which is fine by me. i LOVE to speculate, as u may have noticed...

so that lil melee on NXT was simply random junk? it dont surprise me. to tell u the truth, it looked like crap. i mentioned it before in another thread that i saw Percy gettng planted by Riley, then they ended up helping eachother - which was just LAME!!! all that junk woulda sold if Riley and Percy stuck on the same side. but on the bright side, i think Hennig and Rotunda deserve a spot on the Nexus NOW!
as for a Smackdown Chapter of Nexus, idk. i think the Nexus should do watever they want and jump on BOTH brands! sounds unorganized, yah, but think of the heat theyd get if they started beating up on Kane and Taker while on Friday night! we caught a glimpse of it when they jumped Kofi and Dolph at Summerslam, and it got a pretty good reaction!
The WWE should keep the Nexus for a while. they shouldnt cut them off so soon. but they shouldnt keep them around too long, either. dont bleed it to death like they did with the nWo, but keep it around for at least a year like they did with Legacy. thats my opinion...

speaking of the nWo... i remember back in WCW, the top dogs were kept at the top while they held back the future stars like Jericho, Guerrero, Benoit and Mysterio. and look wat happened to WCW... if wat kwan is saying is true, and the WWE are "pushing only the established", then that could be a huge mistake. just like wat WCW did back in the Monday Night Wars... now granted the WWE dont have any huge competition right now, and i doubt TNA has the budget to lure wrestlers away like how Ted Turner did, but they should really push NEW talent. guys like Miz, Swagger, and even Drew can hold their own. they should have more faith in their young talent cuz thats where Cena, Christian, Jericho and all them started from too! (except for HHH who i believe kissed ass to the top)
in the Monday Night Wars, WWE pushed new talent and kicked WCWs ass! they shouldnt give up on that...

wow, that was a long rant... good job on renaming the thread! now i wont feel obligated to ask a question! i like the discussion here (even tho its mostly just between 2 ppl). the wall cant contain me!

NP and again it's appreciated longer discussions come on the forum-it's what it's for! And NP on long rants as I've had doozies in the past.

It's good therapy too considering the WWE creative can be a headache at times. Hope for long term booking, oh how one can dream! :P

Factions are good IMHO to build guys from young just like how tags help. It seems though if HHH is not the leader they fall apart way too soon, and gee I wonder why. And yes you'd think the past means something to learn from whether it be WWE's own (the Invasion disaster) or others (WCW as you noted with the nWo). Another issue right now with not just Nexus but ANYONE new is the lack of faith to give them CLEAN WINS. Big whoop I won a countout or thanks to 10 run ins. Look at how Alberto got a clean win on Rey-he's not big news in WWE on Smackdown that badly needs it! It's not about having a cap on when an angle or faction should end, it's about having good stories move it along to a logical beginning, middle and end like any good story book. Both big 2 companies forgot how to do that a long time ago so we get soap opera swerves and SNL-lite skit comedy leading to nothing. Nexus is indeed the blessing of the summer, so pray I guess someone helps keep it going to least a logical conclusion and future good stories.

And as you noted competition or not your fanbase gets bored of the same guys on top and need new faces in due time. Sure ride the established ones as far as one can, generally something WWE did well in the past, but be ready even if there's no competition to get the new talent in without a hitch. It is true WWE pushed talent in the past due to competition so now they got to learn to do it simply as good business and not be lazy and comfy-that's why doing 900 episodes is not that grand if most of them are mediocre and not helping your bigger payday: PPVs. I could go on but I got enough of my own rant and cleasing out too so thanks!

so they are gonna unify the Womens Championships... that could be a good idea... idk...

they unified the Tag championships, and now theyre gonna unify the Divas too. i guess thats the WWE's way of trimming the fat. i just really hope they dont end up unifying the World titles.

if they unify the World titles, then they might as well dissolve the whole 'separate brand' thing. if theres only gonna be one title, then who will the champ be for the other brand? it would look kinda empty, if u ask me. if they unify the titles, then unify the brands.

but then again, unifying the brands would prolly mean more work for the superstars and more dates, and more appearances and less time off and having to show up on BOTH shows and shit like that... so i trust they be smart and keep the separate brands and the separate World titles.

it looks like theres not enough gold to go around anymore.

Yep unifying all the belts least will cut the clutter around and make the belts left somewhat more valuable like the good old days. And for the Women and Tag divisions being so thin it was just common sense. I heard a few good arguments though on having just 1 world belt, particularly if it's to be your #1 belt why have 2 of them like boxing does, and note how bad a mess that sport is with too many champs now. Also you want that fans can ID your champs and having too many belts makes it harder, particularly for kids.

My point too is indeed to not only unify those belts but dissolve the failed brand extension that really came from when WCW and ECW folded and got bought out by the WWE to make fake competition. They got competition again for viewers again with the UFC and NFL, and to a lesser extent TNA, ROH and others. So yes being onside to unify the belts I'm also onside to end the brands. And hey it's not like they can't have just 1 crew again and people like Melina won't cry being apart from her friends in the business then. It's a small enough roster again to unify them!

I don't see it as more work, in fact, 1 roster can be rotated for house show duties while giving actual rest to talent that badly need it to reduce wear and tear. I overall see more pluses than minuses in uniting the brands and belts.

OK an aside as I mentioned on the wall I'm very for having Awesome Kong in the WWE but doubt she fits their "appearance" requirements even with Aloisia there (and note in the Behind the Scenes news I'll update something on her). Kong though is a sweetheart in real life having met her for an indy show booking, as she actually sounds very nice and has a girlie voice despite never really talking on TNA. Funny stories include during her battle royale match when she got eliminated by crook, she took the guilty gal and chucked her into the space for the "locker space" backstage and nearly knocked the curtains over! The other funny ones involve her time outside the shows as she told us 1 anime con-goer asked her for directions thinking she was security, and she gave some made up directions and somehow the person STILL made their destination! But the funniest easily is when another fan said "WOW you got on an AWESOME Kong cosplay! You look almost like her if you were just a foot taller!" Again what a good sport, she simply didn't get upset and said instead she got her outfit (she was in full ring gear) from a special distributor for the convention! Kong IS Awesome!

well, if they unify the titles, they should unite the brands. i would just hate to see the titles become unified, and one brand is left without its own champion. and i would miss the World Heavyweight Championship belt. that design has been around for soooo long, and its my fav belt (i have a replica). if a title unification comes around, it would most likely be the Heavyweight title belt that gets dropped... or maybe they create a brand new design like they did when Jericho unified the titles way back in the day... ah well, i just hope they keep both titles...

im liking the push that Alberto Del Rio is getting! looks the WWE is investing quite some time and effort into this guy and he looks well worth it so far, in my opinion. i like his arrogance, he demeanor and his promos (although a bit lengthy) are not bad at all! i thought he would be feuding with Rey at first, but i guess they are finally giving Mysterio the time-off that he really needs. i hope this feud with Christian puts them both over in the ranks(Christian is my fav face). Del Rio is looking like an awesome bad guy!

but heres a side note... they give Del Rio a new super luxury car every week, his very own ring announcer, he had some time tonight on Smackdown doing some promo with bottles of Dom Perignon and waiters and food and a pinata and they make this dude look like hes a frikkin BILLIONAIRE with his designer suits and now hes got a feud with one of the biggest faces in all of WWE... doesnt this make Ted Dibiase Jr. look like a nobody? AHAHAH i mean, Ted is supposed to look like a millionaire too! but all they gave him was a new theme song, they assigned Maryse to be his escort and a cheap paper-thin knock-off of the Million Dollar Belt. i wouldnt be surprised if Ted is a lil jealous, cuz isnt he supposed to be the rich guy in the WWE?

I think right now unless there is a plan to unify the brands, we're likely seeing just some belts unify it seems, mainly for the tag and Divas where the talent pool they possess is so small to work 2 brand titles. 6 I guess is fine (2 Worlds, IC, US, 1 Tags, 1 Divas) but again unifying them all under 1 brand would be better IMHO.

I'll totally concur on Alberto Del Rio. For top heels hiearchy right now I'd have ADR behind Chris Jericho, CM Punk, Sheamus and Nexus for now though that's changing fast with how Nexus has been treated in the latter part of its push while ADR is in the infancy so we shall see. Oh and Cody Rhodes is getting up there amazingly with the Miz as a top heel considering many thought they'd be the Marty Jannette of their tag teams, while Ted Dibiase Jr. and John Morrison are being exposed for having little character or mic skills compared to having great in ring skills, while the Miz and Cody make their gimmicks work, have been working on getting over a while, and are improving in the ring enough to pass.

On that end ADL oh how you complained before of your treatment,
look at you now as your expressions are so evil they get you over alone. And as you noted in a short time he's gotten the grip of his rich Mexican gimmick way faster than Ted Jr. is copying his dad's gimmick. The Christian feud might be a quick transition one but already there's talks he'll be a top end guy on Smackdown so let's hope this push works! As for Ted Jr. I don't think it's jealousy.
I bet actually Ted would prefer to get a totally opposite role than his dad like how Cody Rhodes is doing as that is far from being like his dad the American Dream Dusty or even his brother Goldust/Dustin Rhodes. The belt sadly never was taken seriously, and finally Maryse, while I never get why people like her for being a snotty French Canadian spoiled brat, is better suited as a valet than an in ring Diva, but needs to be with someone more suited like when she and Miz were somewhat linked for a bit to play off the duelling ego angle.

so my kid told me that the 6'9" chick was apparently "fired" by Vickie. i checked WWE.com and it looks like its true. all i can say about that is WHY???
its most likely cuz she cant wrestle for shit. but hey, if thats the case then look at Otunga! AHAHAHA!!!
Big Show can barely wrestle! Khali even WORSE! but they draw cuz theyre frikkin HUGE! if she got let go cuz shes so damn big, then i think thats a mistake. the diva division needs some variety, if u ask me. it gets kinna boring watching a bunch of former cheerleaders and dancers taking bad bumps and pulling each others hair for 3 minutes. with Beth Phoenix injured, theres nothng but toothpick sized chicks left in the ring. granted, some of them are good (gail kim, natalya, tamina and... gail kim.. and gail kim) but the rest are almost painful to watch(almost as painful as watching Otunga). when i watched the TNA womens division, i watch just to see Kong get in there and clean house! another example is from back in Attitude Era - remember a certain 9th Wonder of the World? but without a freak like Beth or the 6'9" chick... idk...
i was hoping her size alone would be a draw enough for WWE to give her a shot. but i guess not. maybe shes going to FCW or some other independent for 'development'. i just hope we see her some time in the future...

Yep and TY for using the spoiler feature on the well. Yes as noted in the Behind the Scenes news, Aloisia got "fired" by Vickie, which of course if you read that is an angle.

That said you're forgetting something about those huge men you mentioned who cannot wrestle. One is there's some mic work they can do in the case of Show and somewhat less Otunga. But a bigger thing sad to say is the WWE is prejudice to the women talent. Look as you noted how badly treated they've handled the division, firing some of the best in ring talent (Mickie James, Katie Lea Burchill and now Serena), placing the ones left as valets or not even on TV (Natalya, Tamina and Gail as you noted) and it's more clear they only keep Divas even as a division so the censor and rights groups don't come against them, or more importantly for now, to Linda McMahon and her Senate campaign. Once again you got to remember it's real life and 2 things dictate the WWE right now: the network they're on in NBC Universal, and poilitcs like Linda McMahon's Senate campaign. From why we saw the temporary Danielson firing to all these recent lame firings for minor issues to how a lot of the talent is being treated, it's about politics who restrict them or the Network's wishes, and NBC would rather WWE have tame eye candy than actual wrestling. Go ahead alone and see RAW of late-the 900th episode had a total of 7 minutes of in ring before the main event, LESS than most of TNA this week on Impact! NBC sees now RAW as their replacement for Saturday Night Live for guest showings and entertainment as they've been displeased with SNL for a long while as it deteriorates in talent too.

As for Aloisia, she is not officially fired as you said she's likely got some time in FCW coming if she is green. I'm not for or against size if one can perform in the ring, so maybe this despite all the above influences is a good thing in the long run, but again don't count on things changing as the casual fan along with politics and networks drive wrestling today, not any Attitude Era of good hardcore fans anymore.
