Thought I'd give my two cents worth of thoughts with the current State of the WWE.

To me it feels that the WWE has reached the point where maybe time has caught up with the wrestling boom peroid and those in charge have not either realised it or maybe ignoring it.I'll look at each brand now before sunmmarising.

Raw- The longest running weekly show as they love to remind us has become like all classic shows do.Its jumped the shark and instead of refreashing it just feels like things are going through the motions.Tonights Raw was an example we got some good but to interspread between some really bizarre stuff. They tease us with having someone like Wade Barret look great one week and instead of building on that he looks silly a week later which tunes people out.The NEXUS angle startted well but seems to starting to feel as rushed through as the WCW/ECW invasion was back in 2001.Sheamus they can't decide weather is to be a dominate champ or a very lucky one.Edge and Jericho have been undermined as their too over to dump in mid card but not super over to push as main eventers so are in limbo. As for our two big faces Cena has nopt been helped with his superman gimmick as it's gotten to the point where he either wins easily or get's cheated depending on who he's wrestling.Ad for Randy Orton right now he's hot as he's ever been as a face but the issue is can they keep him at this level of fan support if he does become champion again the fialed push in 2004 started well then burnt out almost as quickly.Still the Miz/Daniel Bryan angle has been well built and if we get the pay off that should happen maybe Raw can slowly find its direction

Smackdown-If anything this brand is in a more holding pattern than Raw is due to the channel switch next month. The lack of depth in main eventers hasn't been helped by going back to Kane-Undertaker again.Jack Swagger it seems they panicked on and hasitly dumped him back down the card faster than he came up.The mid card is steady but no one it seems is being readied to fill the main event slot.Christian seems to be waiting for the feud with Edge that got hinted at a while back.Cody Rhodes has devloped a nice gimmick but how long will it last til the WWE writers want to change it .Kofi/Dolph is a feud thats intresting but needs to end soon to free up both men for other things.Drew Mcintyre is falling back down faster than Swagger which shows that the chosen one curse is alive and well.As for CM Punk and the Big Show well their needed for possible main events if injuries occur but feuding with each other seems just a something to do .Rey is taking much needed time off and as for Alberto Del Rio i'm still to be convinced that this isn't like the Carlito debut push.

So overall i'd say the WWE needs above all to find a direction and stick with it.The PG rating as annoying as it is to us fans is a bit forced on them as in irony the Attitude era was brought in during the monday night wars as if they didn't change they'd go out of business.Reality is the attitude audience is older so WWE had to follow suit and who knows when the younger fans get older they'll change again.I will say patience is required and perhaps a rethink on how we view wrestling now days.

Anyways thats my two cents worth of thoughts at this stage.

Ah yes addressing the current state of WWE and pro wrestling. I like how this is laid out so I'll just add my 2 cents trying not to repeat points:

RAW: The issue really I find is that NBC the parent network of USA Network which carries RAW and owns Sy Fy too wants RAW to now be a variety show so there's less room for wrestling. No secret NBC has been upset Saturday Night Live has petered out and it's a great example of jumping the shark like the WWE but also how they didn't do a good job replacing established talent that moved on (mainly after the Tina Fey/Will Ferrell cast) with new talent and the WWE is trying desperately to do it. Thing is as noted patience is also thin and when the WWE had to combat WCW they had time to do it and make new stars from Mankind to the Rock. Guys get so short a leash to get over there's no way they can so each push gets usually cut short and we get instead a girth of midcarders while the glass ceiling top end talent is thinning as HBK and Batista retired, Taker is not getting younger nor is HHH and Rey with their injuries. Add on the younger over stars in Cena and Orton refuse to put talent over in singles matches, and they're the top FACES yet count the last month alone how many guys get RKOed or AAed. Thing is unlike Rock and Austin the WWE is not that strong to afford so few top end stars, and the patience will be tested soon again as NBC demanded another 3 hour RAW not in the WWE plans. Again that planned WWE 24/7 Cable Network might need to come sooner or later.

But it's not all on NBC. Linda McMahon's Senate campaign has made it more sensitive to do anything outside the WWE or even in it in the case of Danielson recently. Vince is getting older and his fresh ideas seem to hamper RAW, particularly the horrible announcing crew. JR is gone. King has checked out. And Cole has become the most hated commentator not named Mike Adamle because he's no longer credible with his silly laughter and horrible cliches, along with a failed heel turn that can't even decide if it sticks or not. Add on the anonymous GM announcing has now the live fans upset he's not in good graces as Vince is screaming in all announcer ears instead of doing it himself. The overall state of RAW is crumbling from no faith to want to give the Tag Teams a chance to burying the Divas as jokes now with eye candy appeal, and it's a sad state even for a variety show. Finally note the celebrity project got downgraded again from being the guest GMs to guest hosts to now the guest stars as they've been some of the worst segments despite rare gems like Shaq or Bob Barker, as we get D list actors from Jeremy Piven to Justin Long (who admitted to doing a bad job) to NASCAR drivers no one gives a care about nor do they like 90% of athletes got ANY charisma to even hold a 5 minute promo. Just utterly tough to watch RAW most nights.

Smackdown: As noted again networks are a key factor with the move in October. But then what as it's always been seen as the B show but also the one with more wrestling? I can only hope despite less viewers then we get maybe some more talent over there to wrestle then and make it distinct from the variety show that is RAW. Kaval choosing to go to Smackdown with his title shot would be a good start since him vs. Rey as he's said in interviews would be a dream feud. They cannot give up pushes like with Swagger or Drew anymore, as Cody has finally gotten a decent singles push despite an odd character he's worked his butt off to get over, while Alberto Del Rio should stop complaining about his heritage even if it's important as he's the most over character there right now. A few FCW and NXT season 2 additions would help the in ring and breathe new life as again Taker is not getting younger and Rey is not getting healthier yet. Punk has top end potential and needs to get away from Show who has always been an issue to book ever since Paul Heyman left the WWE (and gone on to successfully get Brock Lesnar even MORE popular as a top draw in UFC with a book on the way). Hornswoggle makes my blood boil as a retarded midget who serves no purpose even as a comic spot, yet sadly his merchandise sells and he "pleases" ADD kids. It's hard to say Smackdown will get any help aside the occasional Vince visit that does more damage than help and makes Teddy wish he had another job. It's so hard to pinpoint sometimes this show that keeps moving networks and borders on cancellation.

NXT/Superstars-Best right now to replace Superstars with NXT to least have a show where you can maybe groom new talent, and WGN which carries Superstars is not as ratings sensitive being in mainly the Chicago market.

WWE Vintage Collection-A saving grace of the WWE with Mean Gene Okerlund hosting classic matches and promos when WWE was good along with stuff from WCW to NWA. Worth a look if you get it.

As for the audience it has become family oriented and sure it's not the Attitude era, but don't forget how before that we had the Rock and Wrestling Era which also was very PG friendly with lots of cartoony and nicer stuff. I think the issue more comes from overworked lazy booking. Whether you're booking to be PG or R, you need to MAKE SENSE and to give your talent credibility. This "Even Steven" booking of having guys win one week and lose the next to the same guy doesn't raise or lower anyone and we get a midcard logjam. Pushes need to test the waters longer, and the hardcore fans need to SHUT UP when such pushes are given even to guys they don't like at first. If you never try you never succeed or fail. There needs to be more faith in the WWE, and with the pressures coming from networks to politics we shall see if the state of the WWE improves or stays stagnant in risk of becoming boring.

im not gonna offer 2 cents or give a State of WWE Address cuz the 2 posts above basically covered it all. and very in-depth coverage if i may add. so ill spare the other readers from another rant ... not

although i will say this: i grew up in the Attitude Era. back in those days, it was all about nWo, Stone Cold and The Rock (my personal fav was Foley, but anyways). i went to a ton of house shows during that time. what i noticed back then was there would be NO KIDS at those events. maybe 10% kids under 13 at BEST. prolly cuz the event wasnt very "kid friendly".
i went to a House Show last month and wat did i see? prolly close to 40% of the audience were kids under 13. count all the kids under 17 and it would be well over half. the show was so "kid friendly" that Gail Kim even brought a lil 8 yr old girl into the ring to help give away t-shirts. i even saw Randy Orton hi-5ing babies around the ring! me being a parent of a 7 yr old, i was very glad to see how these house shows have changed, and im more encouraged to bring my kid to these shows every chance i get. its a bonding experience that we'll never forget.
i actually LIKE the PG direction the WWE has been taking. it allows me to share something with my kid that i also loved when i was young, without having to worry about exposing her to questionable content. i remember back in the days, when RAW started a 9pm, they held all the clean matches in the first hour, then as soon as prime time hit at 10pm - here comes Sable almost topless! HAHA good times! but as a responsible parent now, i have to watch out for those things. with the WWE taking a PG vibe these days, it makes my job much easier and makes it enjoyable for us family-wise.

i like watching wrestling from a pure standpoint with no spoilers or inside info as possible. its much more enjoyable to me and my kid that way. i believe too much info kills the show. we all have our complaints about how story lines should be done and this and that, but thats pro-wrestling! its no big deal! WWE aint goin anywhere anytime soon. so i dont see wat the fuss is all about. and my pro-PG view about all this might make me a bad-guy to the 2 ppl who posted above, but hey, i LOVE being a heel anyway!

heels RULE!

Good analysis since you do the house shows still (I used to attend either the PPVs or TV tapings). And yes as much as for us who recall the Attitude Era there are pluses to the PG era too like getting kids involved and invested much earlier. As I'm reading being a parent really changes the views of how to handle things. That said I also don't want my kids if I have any in the future to also be dumbfounded and dumbed down when presented stuff. Is Hornswoggle, a grown adult who happens to be a midget, worthwhile on WWE when all he does is grunt, make lewd jokes and even ELECTROCUTES people?! I won't even go into his issues of humping things like he's an untrained dog, maybe how the WWE sees him now as some WWE pet. I don't need it ramped back to near nudity or tons of unprotected chair shots, but I think as a fan, both kids and adults, need stuff that makes SENSE and simply not offensive to our INTELLIGENCE. When I see what is now one of the worst ways to lose, when ANYONE comes ringside for 1 minute to distract someone...by being there before like a goof they turn into a finisher or heel pin that is insulting our intelligence because it seems ALL of their talent has 0 intelligence or attention span!

Safer is fine, as is family oriented. But give us least some form of writing and scripts (Which they already overdo that the talent has to memorize huge scripts before a show as reported by talent who have left the company) that has a level of logic we can follow. Yes wrestling we suspend some disbelief (Kane and Taker are perfect examples with their whole story), but don't give either a generic show every week or one that insults the senses of the fans. Oh and as far as watching without spoilers/info I sometimes do it, sometimes not, depends on my mood. I still find the whole show should still come off well in presentation and attitude even with or without said info. And no worries we're fans, we sometimes heel and face spot too heh. Heels do rule but don't feel an opinion is being one or the other, all the arguments are showing a good sense of logic, something the WWE just needs to grasp a bit more before throwing another overbooked Divas gimmick match or insult the fans with very bad guest choices while the wrestlers get rushed through 1 minute matches. Logic in the booking is all I ask for sometimes, spoiler aided or not.

reading the above about Hornswoggle reminded me of something... has anybody ever seen a show called The Half Pint Brawlers? its on Spike, the same network with TNA. its about these CRAZY A$$ midget wrestlers! dude that show is HILARIOUS!!! i was quite fascinated by it one night when they showed a marathon and after that, man i was HOOKED!!! aside from all the hardcore stunts and crap they pull, those midgets can WRESTLE!!! which makes me wonder if Hornswoggle can hang with them? HAHA!!! i love ALL wrestling and now after seeing the Half Pint Brawlers, i love midget wrestling too! of course i watched that without my kid around, and my baby mama thinks theyre kinda disgusting with spots like stapling nut sacks and drinking piss, but watching that filled the empty hardcore part of me (thats been empty since ECW folded) for a lil while. i havent checked for any new eps of that show lately, but when i first saw it a few months ago, it was pretty cool...

lets see Hormswoggle grunt with these guys! HAHAHA!!!

UGH sorry got to rant on a few things:

1. Half Pint Brawlers I saw accidentally 5 seconds and that is so red neck horrible it makes HORNSWOGGLE competant. DO NOT WATCH IT. I'm sorry to one their own but that show is and I'm breaking the PG rule here a bit simply red neck SHIT. I hate it and hate viewers of it so there...if I even dare want midgets who wrestle I MIGHT watch the Luchadore version in Mexico and that's it, the rest is pure and udder crap...that's how I see it and not everyone will agree but am in a rant mode right now and figures it's best to let thoughts out instead of bottling it so there...moving onto my main target to rant on now...

2. NXT SEASON 3: BEWARE SPOILERS but to save your souls from how bad they treat the women, the announcers, the fans EVERYONE's INTELLIGENCE. Below first is the report:

At http://www.411mania.com/wrestling/news/152174/WWE-NXT,-Superstars-and-Dark-Match-Taping-Results-(SPOILERS).htm

The thing getting me all worked up is how pathetic NXT has gotten and how it's not helping talent but bury them, while the ones who show up on the show use the time to bury each other (Regal with Miz, Miz to everyone, Kofi and Laycool to Miz, all the Pros to the Rookies, Cole to Kaval and Bryan and so forth) that it's disgusting. Kayfabe sure is dead but least have some useful storytelling without people either burying talent or making fools of a once presentable product. Yes we've have Katie Vick and Mae Young give birth to a hand but those were the exceptions to poor writing. For the last 2+ years I watch especially with the women just shoddy handling that the division is a joke now, plain and simple, used as a bathroom break when women like Trish and Lita used to MAIN EVENT the Divas. It's embarassing and just comes off as lazy booking or Vince getting senile and wanting to toot his horn for his own chuckles (and this goes double for the guys sometimes).

Excuse this very jaded fan if even that, follower of the WWE for a bit-maybe some time off this weekend at the next anime con will cool my jets but of late I know I come off hateful but sometimes one must rant and curse what they like in order to go on watching it and to pray it better...will try to contain myself but sometimes even I need my space to let things loose...most of all as a fan no matter WHAT view you take you should let it loose when you're happy about stuff shown and especially when they mess it up and make NO sense. Otherwise we're done a disservice as viewers and it simply makes us look stupider for staying status quo and quiet like good little sheep they expect, yes EVEN kids. SPEAK YOUR MIND GOOD AND BAD. Sure going WHAT to every heel promo is part of us fans being jaded and stupid too, but for the most part don't stop speaking your mind if you got an opinion. It's your money to pay for PPVs or time to see the TV, so everyone should be heard one way or another! Thanks and return to your regular discussing folks.

about the NXT Season 3 - im glad i came back here to see if anyone responded to my posts! i dont usually do that, but good thing i did tonight, cuz that lil NXT warning that kwan gave was kinda helpful! i told my kid about it and shes not even planning to watch NXT tonight anyways cuz she dont like Diva wrestling! she thinks they all SUCK! AHAH(im proud of my kid, she has such good judgement)!!! so we're safe from any exposure to anything inappropriate. ive only watched NXT for the final eliminations but now IM curious! HAHAHA!!! maybe ill take a peek, maybe not. since i found out the 6'9" chick left, i kinda lost interest... who knows...

as for Half Pint Brawlers - BWAAHAHAHAHAAAA!!! "red neck SHIT" AAHAHAHAHHAAAA!!! that couldnt be more true! but hey, every now and then i need my fix of red neck shit from time to time!
HPB RULES!!!

OK then good my rant didn't cause too much chaos; I've calmed and going back into reasonable analyst mode.

I'll admit to one their own-for my own guilty pleasure I've mentioned I've watched every episode of Wrestlelicious which has some even WORSE writing that ranges from silly to cheesy. I watch it for 2 reasons:

1. The IN RING despite the ridiculous characters at times given to the women and the horrendous announcer I got to mute (something I should try on Cole sometime...) is good to even BETTER than what the WWE and TNA can show. A good reason for this is many of the wrestlers come from SHIMMER in the US, some of them are Canada's best indy talent like the Canadian Ninjas who play 2 school gals on the show, to some of the best free agents there, which leads me to...

2. SERENA is on the show, having nice long matches and an OK character named Paige Webb who as you can tell by the pun is a long haired (this was pre-WWE but who knows she might return there), glasses wearing computer geek with a "showy" side under her shy, innocent demure.

It's at http://www.bite.ca/show/Wrestlicious/ among other places to see it since we're into giving alternatives of late on the site. No problem in that and again to one their own on which you choose to see.

I'll try to stomach the live presentation of NXT in an hour since in Canada the Score shows the episodes Wednesdays at 9PM EST but for once spoilers least save me this time so I can flip the channel once Cole comes on to embarass himself (which rumour is the WWE is doing to punish him for pointing out the gaffes of Khali and Fox on RAW) and the entire NXT Pro and Rookie and staff cast.

BTW you point out an intriguing point how Aloisia the 6'9" giant being taken off the show now is taking away interest, but again it's a mix bag of why she was taken off:

Well watch as you wish but if your little gal wants good pro wrestling with the women either try Josei Japanese wrestling which is were a ton of the moves we see today are created, or SHIMMER or similar indy feds in America, with names like Sara Del Ray, Lufisto, MsChif, Daizee Haze, Awesome Kong, Serena and many others make home. Or if you want to see decent in ring but don't mind the cheese try the above Wrestlelicious stuff!

ah, so kwan is from Canada! now it makes sense u used to work with the Hart Dynasty! very cool!
some of my FAV wrestlers are Canadian! Chris Jericho, Christian... and although hes not WWE and not even a wrestler (but he HAS improved on his wrestling skills lately) Georges St. Pierre!!! tha BADDEST Welterweight on the planet! i frikkin LOVE that guy! id like to see him move up a weight class and give Anderson Silva a run for his money, but who knows if that will ever happen. i believe he could do it though... cant wait till the next season of TUF starts. GSP vs Koscheck! GSP RULES!

oops, sorry for my lil UFC rant. i know this is WWE. i know UFC and WWE compete for PPV buys, but in my opinion theres no reason they cant co-exist together. i heard a while back that WWE was trying to cock-block the UFC PPVs overseas cuz they were encroaching on the availability or something. idk. but to me, they are 2 totally different entities, 2 totally different genres and 2 totally different markets. idk if thats still goin on or not, but watever. i see WWE superstars at UFC PPVs ALL THE TIME! especially at Brock's last fight, i saw Goldberg and Austin sitting together! i think the Rock was there too, but im not sure. anyways... i guess my point is that the WWE and UFC should just get along! HAHAHA!

so, is there a ban on UFC talk here as well? just wondering... i dont wanna post about subjects im not supposed to bring up, since im in enough trouble here already!

Smackdown was very well done imo! from wat i saw, it was more wrestling orientated than RAW has been as of late. and it was a lot more easy to watch cuz stuff actually made sense and wasnt borifying at all. or maybe its just cuz i havent watched an entire ep of Smackdown in a while... idk...

ive said it before and ill say it again... im LOVING Alberto Del Rio!!! i could see this guy being a top heel for WWE for a long long time, if they do things right. if handled correctly and provided he dont get injured, Del Rio could be quite a force in the WWE....
but still... i find it kinda funny that he keeps calling Christian an American!

hate to see SES falling apart ... i think their feud with Big Show needs to end. CM Punk barely lost last night... BARELY. but he and Taker put on a good match!

Oh thought I said in the past I'm in Canada, eh. TY for the Canadian support like Jericho, Christian and UFC's Welterweight MMA champ GSP! And that was more a UFC plug but either way it was fine-you should again note how much outside WWE references I use in posts here!

That news about WWE and UFC is true-the WWE has supported protest groups in Europe who want the MMA banned in their country which is really ignorance there. The WWE and UFC true are separate entities but as you note in some of the BTS news we do note the competition as being PPV events in a tight US market due to money right now. They're contact events and there's only so much money to spend in a month for either. They could have got along (TNA and UFC do since they're on the same station so an out and out relationship is out of the question) or least don't keep slagging the other (like hmmmmm that video when CM Punk showed on the RAW 900th episode and not knowing who that "Brock Lesnar" guy is now that he's in UFC).

I'd say if you link the topics back to the general WWE theme should be fine-heck as you note now I too am a UFC/MMA fan too! That goes for any topic if you're comparing to the WWE that works for discussion!

Good points on Smackdown (missed it this week being on the road) as it's the WRESTLING show compared to RAW. Christian I guess is mistakened as American since he moved to Florida and resides there, but he's a Canuck like me through and through!

And yes sucks if SES will fall apart and split fully now-they had a shot to be a huge faction if handled better during the Rey feud and for sure during this current Show burial feud! From unmasking them on Free TV to losing Serena to simply making them look too silly with few wins has really hurt them and looks like the normal WWE "shrug as we got nothing for you so we'll not work on your push/help" is in session once again-look out Nexus as you're likely next!

Monday Night Football usually starts at 6:30pm-7pm PST for me and runs all the way to past 9pm most times. RAW starts at 9pm. after football and a few beers, im just too uninterested in watching WWE. its been that way for me for years and im pretty sure im not the only WWE fan who goes thru this routine every Monday night during Football season. add to that the fact that RAW has been getting just ridiculous lately storyline-wise and wrestling-wise, then u really cant blame me or thousands of other WWE fans for choosing MNF over RAW. i dont give a damn if OchoCinco is hosting or not...

i did, however record RAW on my DVR but i just havent found the time or even had the interest to watch it yet. my kid told me that Cena lost another tables match, which might be a good laugh for me, but thats still not enough reason for me to put in the minimal effort to search for that bout. i guess the only things i look forward to on RAW lately are the Santino-Tamina storyline and Sheamus kicking ass. but since Sheamus has been reduced to a cheat, theres not really much to see anymore. the Nexus has gone soft imo. they really need to get some kinna gold or else they should all go back to FCW...

i just saw on WWE.com that Michael Cole quit NXT or something. i have that recorded also and i might give it a look just to see what that story is all about. but other than that, i dont see any reason to waste hard drive space on my DVR to record WWE anymore. the only show worth watching is Smackdown. but thats only if i dont have any plans after work on Friday nights.

heres a question... does WWE have a show on Wednesday nights? im pretty sure they dont, except for a replay of NXT. and with TUF: GSP vs Koscheck premiering this Wednesday, even if they DID have a show id rather watch TUF.

i guess my point of this post is that i prolly represent a big portion of the WWE Universe when i say that WWE programming as of late has just gotten BLAH. there are other shows on tv that id rather be watching now just cuz the WWE storylines have gotten BORING! im waiting for something BIG to happen to get me to start watching religiously again. but ever since that HUGE Nexus ring-destruction thing, nothing else has happened. i wouldve thought they had something big planned knowing that Football season was starting, but if OchoCinco was supposed to be that "BIG thing" then im sorry, ill pass... they need to generate some interest somehow and they need something BIG or else theyve lost fans like me for the remainder of Football season on Monday nights...

Yep and for fun from this article is a neat look at the MNF matchups and who likely wins out:

http://www.411mania.com/wrestling/columns/153024/The-Tuesday-Small-For-All-News-Report:-09.14.10.htm

Week 1 – Raw Roulette vs. Jets vs. Ravens & Chiefs vs. Chargers

Small's Prediction – Expect Raw to take a bit of a hit as the Jets vs. Ravens is a highly anticipated matchup between two of last year's Wild Card Teams. The latter game should not effect Raw's rating as not many people outside of KC really care about the Chiefs. Last week's Raw Rating (not Labor Day) – 3.5. This week's Raw rating – 3.2

Week 2 – New Orleans at San Francisco

Small's Prediction – Perhaps if the 49ers did not look like chumps against the lowly Seattle Seahawks would make this matchup a bit more exciting. As it stands, the Saints should easily wallop on the undermanned 49ers. Sure people love the Saints but only against good competition. In addition, it is the Raw after Night of Champions, one of the better selling B-shows, so I'd expect a bump here. Raw rating – 3.4

Week 3 – Green Bay Packers at Chicago Bears

Small's Prediction – Another matchup of a quality football team against a mediocre team. I'd predict another 3.4 rating for Raw.

Week 4 – New England at Miami

Small's Prediction – Good matchup here as the Dolphins usually give the Patriots problems. Both teams should be fighting for the top spot in the AFC East and pose a small threat to the WWE Universe (coming off of the HITC PPV). Raw Rating – 3.3

Week 5 – Minnesota at New York Jets

Small's Prediction – Another good matchup featuring Brett Favre and the NY Jets. Expect Raw to have some issues here. Raw Rating – 3.1

Week 6 – Tennessee at Jacksonville

Small's Prediction – Not the best matchup for Tennessee, which might be in the Playoff picture. Raw rating – 3.4

Week 7 – NY Giants at Dallas

Small's Prediction – Now here's a great MNF matchup. I expect Raw to have some issues here. Raw rating – 3.0

Week 8 – Houston Texans at Indy

Small's Prediction – Yikes, back to back tough weeks for Monday Night Raw. With Houston knocking off Indy already this year, it should only fuel fire to this return match. I'd expect Raw to hit its MNF low this week. Raw rating – 2.7

Week 9 – Pittsburgh at Cincinnati

Small's Prediction – A grudge match featuring two small market teams. I'd expect Raw to have a modest gain here. Raw rating – 3.0

Week 10 – Philadelphia at Washington

Small's Prediction – Another hot NFC East matchup with a built-in storyline of Vick vs. McNabb. I'm there. Raw rating – 2.8

Week 11 – Denver at San Diego

Small's Prediction – I don't expect much from Denver this year. So this matchup might not look as appealing as it did before the season began. Raw needs a tad bit of love here coming out of Survivor Series. Raw rating – 3.1

Week 12 – San Francisco vs. Arizona

Small's Prediction – Finally, Raw wins! Raw wins! Raw wins! Actually, it will just hit its MNF ratings high. Raw rating – 3.4

Week 13 – New York Jets at New England

Small's Prediction – If the Jets can get their offense on track, then this will be a great matchup. If not and the Jets are struggling, then I don't expect much out of this one. Raw rating – 3.2

Week 14 – Baltimore at Houston

Small's Prediction – I like this matchup. I don't think America will so much. Raw rating – 3.4

Week 15 – Chicago at Minnesota

Small's Prediction – I hope it snows. If not, epic fail. Raw rating – 3.4

Week 16 – New Orleans at Atlanta

Small's Prediction – Eh, not the Christmas gift I was hoping for here. Raw rating – 3.3

Oh and yes I tend to channel hop when the NFL starts too, and my 49ers better get their act together with 2 MNF appearances!

In Canada on the Score they do replay RAW at midnight then Tuesdays at 4PM with a show called Right After Wrestling that gives a fair (if sometimes angry) assessment of RAW (and they do the same after Smackdown airs up here too). So for me if MNF is a good one I'll tend to catch a replay.

Sadly despite desperately needing a youth movement they have indeed booked poorly the Usos/Tamina, Sheamus and the Nexus just to get over the guys who don't need pushes anymore like Cena and especially Randy Orton who somehow won that match despite the move looking so botched in the Tables Match on Cena, then watching Orton complain AGAIN to blame everyone else is sad too. RAW is like I said a variety show, Smackdown is the wrestling show even if considered the B show, and NXT is now the gong show as it's become the show to insult its own product, fans and talent which is baffling. Cole left but I suspect it's more of an angle to make him heel full time slowly in a turn for RAW, again baffling for a play by play announcer.

No shows of the WWE are on Wednesdays (thank goodness it's not everyday as we get too much of it as it is) but in Canada again we get NXT only on Wednesdays at 9PM EST (which I'm missing as I watch the UFC Fight Night at this time) then at 10PM is TUF: GSP vs. Koscheck (which of COURSE I'll watch, GSP! GSP!).

The general WWE US schedule of shows is RAW on Mondays at 9PM EST, NXT (for as long as it lasts) on Tuesdays, Superstars on Thursdays and Smackdown on Fridays. We in Canada get all but Superstars up here and pity you guys don't get the EXCELLENT show WWE Vintage Collection which is an hour show with host Mean Gene Okerlund showing a themed show of OLD WWE/WCW/ECW matches and more! Oh it's the highlight of my week on Saturdays to see before a hockey NHL game.

It is sad if you read my comments here and in the Behind the Scenes section that yes since the Nexus angle started the WWE once again is tailing off in PPVs and TV shows, and getting 1 NFL star won't turn it around, and I doubt HHH's return will either at age 41. They likely won't heat up until the Royal Rumble and go through the paces of their "longest weekly episodic show on TV"-like anime sometimes there are huge stretches when the writers mail it in and we as fans just have to grin and bear it of find stuff elsewhere like the NFL and UFC, and that's where the WWE seems to be complacent so long as they make some form of cash, but in due time that well will dry and they'll be forced to get better or else...

so after a few beers and watching the RAIDERS get their 1st win yesterday, i was buzzed enough to let my buddies talk me into ordering Night of Champions. we all chipped in and hoped to get our money's worth. and i must say, i wasnt too disappointed...

the match of the night for me was the Miz/Bryan US Title match. i was pleased to see how many signs were in the crowd saying "I Paid To See Daniel Bryan". my only major problem with that match was the presence of Alex Riley at ringside. he really dont need to be there anymore. i thought his ass was eliminated! but i guess theyre trying to find a spot for him somewhere in the future, so we'll be seeing him kiss the Miz's ass until they get him going. all in all, good match.

the divas match wasnt too painful to watch. but i still dont get why Michelle is getting the push. Layla was the true champ! im guessing theyre gonna feud in the near future.

i usually dont even bother to listen to Cenas promos or interviews, but his "percentage" interview last night wasnt bad. he actually got a rise out of the Chicago crowd from it and it wasnt hard to listen to...

when Kane and Taker used to wrestle 10 yrs ago, they were both in great shape, but becuz of their sizes, they kinda lumbered around the ring and looked kinna like in slow motion with those big moves. knowing how old they are now, i thought it would be even worse this time around! but surprisingly they both looked in awesome shape and the action wasnt slowed down a bit cuz of age. glad to see Kane win, but i wonder wats in store for Hell In A Cell in 2 weeks...

i dont agree with the results of the Tag Team Turmoil. Drew and Cody? watevers... i do think the Usos gained some cred tho, as they beat the Harts with a "clean" win! "clean" as in the only real interference was a kick to the face from the illegal Uso. Tamina wasnt really a factor, cuz Natalya was there, and distracted referees is just part of the game. but hey, thats wat tag team is all about! they also beat Santino/Koslov, which means they took out 2 teams, while Drew and Cody only had to eliminate 1. Good job Usos! i hope to see them take the titles in the future.

as for the 6 Pack challenge... it was kinna uncomfortable watching Jericho walk away. i dunno if hes really gonna leave the WWE, but i hope he doesnt. my buddy told me his contract is up, but wat does he know? insider bullshit is hard to believe these days. i wasnt surprised to see Orton win it, but i wonder how long he'll hold for? who knows...

i give the PPV a 6/10 overall. it wouldve been worse if i was stuck with the entire bill, but for my $20.00 i guess it was ok...

Well first off congrats on your Raiders...my 49ers still need work...

The Riley thing got explained on RAW and even if seems like it's unneeded at least Riley's got a job on the big show to sponge experience for a while. It's more than a lot of the Season 2 rookies now back in FCW. That said the Danielson/Miz feud goes on because the 2 have come far to get over with fans, making them care for the match and feud while actually helping each other in weak spots (Danielson's promos and Miz's in ring). Oh and Flight of the Valkyries for Danielson's theme might not be Final Countdown like in ROH but it will do.

For now seems Lay-Cool sticks together (sadly with 2 Butterfly belts, damn it what's wrong with the Women's belt design?!) but yeah at least the seeds are there when they do split them up. And like Miz for me, Layla I give WAY more credit for improvement over time then in the past. McCool on the other hand...ummm...moving on.

Cena the thing is he USED to be a great promo guy, particularly as a heel. I wonder if he were to lose at HIAC and join Nexus if that might be more key to his future to maybe start some seeds to a heel turn slowly. If WWE could just get past his merchandise value, a heel turn sure could do wonders for him, dare I say, like Hogan did when he joined the nWo because almost no one saw it coming, and it was a welcome change after being face for so long. Rock also had the same deal early in his career with the "Die Rocky Die" chants which Cena gets in a way from hardcore fans.

Kane/Taker seems to be the holding pattern feud until at least Smackdown moves in October to Sy Fy since Sy Fy wants a bit more "fantasy/sci-fi" feel to their shows I guess. If I may suggest to maybe help if that's the case, WWE really should get the Sinister Minister Jim Mitchell who has been in ECW and TNA before and plays an awesome Satanic like character. They do keep mentioning Satan's favorite son, so why not bring one in since they no longer got Paul Bearer there after he got "buried" in the storyline, and Bearer if you recall in the old days of this feud really helped too get this story across.

Tags still seem a bit afloat in limbo but guess they want to push Drew and Cody more (even if Cody really was starting to find a character as a singles guy and has been there, done that in tags). I do concur on the Usos and getting 2 eliminations was huge to least have a future in tags, so hoping they do get that shot in the future once they get proper time to learn in the big leagues. Meanwhile I still get upset how badly booked the Harts have been ever since winning the belts, so hopefully a chase might help as in ring they're easily the most experienced. I guess baby steps for trying to even resussitate a dying division...

I'll leave Jericho updates for the Behind the Scenes thread. Orton's the hot face right now even if he acts heel so we'll see how he does with the belt. HIAC is in 2 weeks so least some of the matches are forming already with Orton/Sheamus in HIAC for the title, Cena/Wade with either Cena forced to join Nexus or Wade having to split the faction, and likely a few more coming as they taped 2 shows tonight.

From how the PPV looked I think it was about a 7/10 as the crowd in Chicago really helped keep things hot in a market that is still huge on wrestling as a whole.
