Posted 8/23/09 , edited 8/26/09
I was just wondering..

example: naruto, one piece, bleach, d gray man, pokemon, gintama, inuyasha, tennis no ojousama etc. those anime contains a lot of characters and 'still' they are one of the most popular anime..

Is it because the storyline are longer and filled with too many characters that it makes the anime popluar

What do u guys think?

I think it's because there are more variations of personality so it's easier to relate to at least one of the characters.

Because there are so many characters, more people can relate to them.
Each character has an interesting story, and every character is unique.

Not necessarily
There for example
Saint Seiya (This anime have a lot of character, and i dont think that its that famous.)
Hunter X Hunter
And a lot more...............

I think that when the storyline are longer and filled with too many characters it make's the anime more enjoyable, and fun to watch,,.. Which might, and might not lead it to be popular...

more characters means the more different personalities there are the more likely someone is going to relate to one of them and like which would mean that they would more or less likely continue to watch the show.

no, i think it's the other way around..when an anime is popular, the author can put as many characters
as he/she likes to make the story longer.............

If it's a shounen anime, it would get boring too fast to just watch one person or two people... good shounens have lots of good action and a nice storyline... you need characters to make the storyline interesting, friends and foes another thing attractive about good shounen anime is that most of the time, it involves friendship and bonds! you need characters for those I think I've got my point across

If it's a slice of life or shoujo, I don't think it's necessary to have so many characters, and most of them don't have many.
hm... is that why that most popular animes are shounen? hmmmmmmmmm *thinks*

Cause, the more character the mooore story lines

Uusually, if you want to make a anime popular you must have a goooooooood character and some awesome bad guys and many many character, to show taht your anime won't be boring

And somemore, if you have more character is best to let them form a team, like Naruto or D.Grayman blah blah blah XD

Well.... more character actually foooorm more SECRETS between them, so make it interest for those anime otaku or blah, if you want to make mooore characters, you better make them characteristic good, otherwise you'll spoil it DX
