Teen Attacked by Exploding iPhone
Posted 8/25/09 , edited 8/25/09
So there have been a few incidents about iPhones suddenly exploding, burning or flaming.

"An exclusive KIRO 7 Investigation reveals an alarming number of Apple brand iPod MP3 players have suddenly burst into flames and smoke, injuring people and damaging property.

It’s an investigation that Apple has apparently been trying to keep out of the public eye."

Most recent case was in France, and the article goes as following:

"In France a teenager has been injured by an explosive variety of Apples incredibly popular world-over iPhone 3G handset.

A little over a week ago Apple was accused of attempting to suppress a story about an exploding iPod Touch, but now according to the AFP, a French woman contacted Apple after her son was hit by flying shards of iPhone glass, which exploded from the iPhone following an odd hissing sound that had been building up.

“My son was frightened but he did not lose an eye” she said to the AFP.

Just earlier this month a man in Liverpool in the United Kingdom reported to The Times of London that he had contacted Apple regarding his daughter’s exploding iPod Touch, and that they had offered to refund the price of the device as long as he signed a waving confidentiality agreement to prevent him from discussing the issue.

At the same time, a recent investigation has shown that at very least 15 people have complained of fire and burns from iPods and iPhones alike - information that was culled from an 800-page Consumer Product Safety Commission document - a document that Apple’s lawyers also attempted to suppress."

I wouldn't want one even if they didn't explode.
I feel a bit old fashioned saying it but I prefer buttons to a touch screen.
I just like the click it makes to let me know I've pressed it.. and I can do tricks like typing on my phone without looking

That makes me glad I don't have one... though it would be a pretty useful weapon if someone tries to steal it from you, just give it to them and it'll explode in their face. Maybe they should circulate this report, then no one would try to steal their suff

Actually, I'd be more fond of their products if they'd given me a basket of apples each time we bought something from them
