I wonder why even bother to pay when non paying members can see more than me.
Oh well, I guess I wont be extending my subcription once it ends.

Hell, you could at least have common courtesy to give an option to hide everything that arent available to your region.
That way i would not atleast get pissed every time you add new anime that *surprise surprise* isnt available to my region...

"Eureka Seven is HERE!!!"

No, it's not. Why? Because I live in the civilized part of the world know as Europe, a place that you guys never buy the licensing rights for. This is just silly, I'm a paying customer and the range of products that I have access to is quite limited. I know that it's a licensing issue, but you guys should pay the extra money that's needed to bring the products to your customers -- that's what we're paying you for.

I agree,

I signed up for a years membership in January but time after time I'm not getting to watch the anime I want to. I want to watch anime shows, I want to support the anime industry but I don't want to be taken for a ride. The bottom line is at the moment people in the US get a better service for free than I am getting even though I am paying for it.

The thing is if the restrictions were in place for just non-members then fine. I would not have a problem with that. But why should I pay the same amount of money as someone who is receiving every single show.

The negotiations should start with a deal breaker. That deal breaker being that ALL subscribers get to watch the show, no matter where they are from. The point being that the money from ALL the subscribers are paying for extra licensing not just those from the US.

If things haven't improved by January I won't be renewing and I'll have to resort to downloading them via bittorrent. As I've said I want to support the anime industry, but it is a multi-billion dollar industry and if it can't provide a viable option for someone willing to pay then I won't be spending my spare money on shows I can't watch. This isn't a charity.

I'm not angry, I'm just very,very disappointed...

I guess we get what we pay for though, and since anime is more expensive over here (everything is ), then it's obvious that we should get less content for the same amount of money...

Still, i get to borrow at least 3-4 interesting series in HD for a year, for the price of a cheap DVD season box. So in the end, it's all good

Though i agree that you could leave us an option to hide what we can't have...

That's EXACTLY what's going on. It's obvious that CR doesn't give a damn about their non-US customers.

The entire industry doesn't really care about you. These regional restrictions come from Japan but they are common elsewhere (e.g. BBC stuff). Paying for a license to cover all of Europe, even, involves subtitling in English, French, German, Spanish, all the countries I'm forgetting, and any dialects. The industry really is this fragmented about their language distribution. I'm not sure how Crunchyroll really approaches the Japanese, but I am sure the lion's share of their content depends on how developed the market is in your country (i.e. did Japan license it to someone else local before Crunchyroll?). In that case, Crunchyroll doesn't pay for translation because a studio is doing it already, and they post it here.

Americans are just paying for content that already exists, on a rental basis. Still bad. I dunno if fansubbers are really going to become legit translation services, but that should be an option Crunchyroll pursues if it wants to be different and succeed.
