I really hope people take the time and read this post. It really is frustrating when you try and try to start discussions, in a thread and you're post only drowns in two/three word replies to the first post, as someone said here grammar is nice, but some typo's here and there is OK, the new fire foxes also have a nice spell checker that really comes in handy if you don't have english as your mothers tongue, and maybe also if you do.
And then I want to thank the mods for this guide and I really hope that people would read it :)
Looking forward to a cleaner forum.

I hear you on the grammer. Nothing irritates me more than seeing a paragraph with no periods or run on sentences or abbreviated words that look like a 8 year old wrote the sentence. I admit that i have my mistake here and there, especially when I am in a rush, but still you go to school or have gone to school so write properly like you were taught. Then again yes there are those learning English as their second language and i excuse them all. Also Firefox does check spelling you know........its not that hard to right click a word to get it changed.

And as for the discussion part I again agree completely. Think of it this way; if you are in a conversation with some friends and then out of no where someone comes up to the conversation and goes "Yah cool." Would you not be confused and pissed off like none other? Or if you were in a deep conversation about let's say religion or something and someone comes up and interrupts the conversation and says "I like stickers."

I suggest you read the last couple of posts too, so you see if others already has suggested what you are about to say, I think the fire fox thing is already suggested.. And for the grammar I don't mind if some words are misspelled or you have a little grammar miss here or there. But just don't caring is only irritating. And the worst thing ever is people using lots of special symbols and having pinkyspasms (PiNKeySpASmS)

Usually the posts are a little more on topic, it's more like you're having a deep religion discussion and ten people come up and says yey, "go buddhism" so none of you can hear what the others say..

Its a great idea posting this, but sadly its not going to work. The morons are still going to post idiotic ramblings. You could go to everyones computer here in CR and personally point out these points in the ways to post in a forum and you are going to have Failures ignore what you said 2 seconds later.

You can lead a horse to water but you can not make him drink.

You have to get some faith in humanity, another saying says, give a man a fish and he won't starve that day, learn him how to catch fish and the whole village will benefit.
What conclusion can we draw from that, If people do learn to behave we really will benefit from it each and every one of us, so it's worth a try ain't it?

^ I gave up any faith in the vast majority of humanity a long time ago. Yes, if some people were able to GET A CLUE life would be much easier, but I don't think thats going to happen in my lifetime.

I would quote, but I guess I don't want people to get annoying emails saying that you have been quoted (I know I can turn it off) I am trying to be nice and avoid spam.

Getting an email that you have willingly wanted and not turned on is not spam, its a convenient measure to be able to answer faster, and not just forget that you're having a conversation and to make sure that you check back on such a big forum and that your posts just do not only drown, but thanks for the thoughts :P

Great explanation, more people should use proper grammar and spelling. It's such a hassle to try and decode people's sometimes....XP

I think you should change the topic of this thread to a guide for forming, instead of "help make the forum better" When i first read the topic it sounds like your asking for suggestions on "how to make the forum better".

Maybe it would be a good idea to get a pm when members first sign up with this guide on forming or having them required to post here first before posting in different sections?

Because one thing i know owning a forum is the majority of people skip topics like these and go right on posting not even thinking twice on reading anything informative.

The edit button is definitely useful, guys...use it instead of making a double post! It's time people learn how to behave in a forum and engage in a useful discussion...NO SPAM, please...
