idk if this belonged in general or extended discussion <_<

youve heard tons of news about how " unsafe " myspace is. and it can be. example: http://www.wftv.com/news/15817394/detail.html that was all bc the girl trashtalked on myspace...

if you ever went on there you see alot of irls with their avis all " smexii "
what you think about myspace?

if i were you, i would only go on there for friends you know in real life

What do you mean by "Safe"? In terms of privacy, or even identity preservation?

No website is "safe". And big mistake is to sign up with your real name. Always use an alias.

I'll just go with the idea that "there are no girls in the internet and the kids in the internet are FBIs in disguise. Not to mention, all guys are horny and want to get laid."

Media is very deceptive, yo.

Depends on whether you've a habit of whoring yourself out to strangers.

I've used myspace for maybe 3 years now? I've had one stranger contact me specifically looking to be friends, calling me pretty and stuff.
It looked pretty dodgy so I scoured his page for hints on if he was for real. I doubt he was someone who would abduct a girl, but from his page he looked like a poser. All his pictures were him with his top off and all his friend were hot girls between the ages of 14 and 20. And I'm guessing the message he sent was copied and pasted since he had a load of girls commenting "Thanks for the add! The message you sent me was sooo sweet!"

I knew better. Or at least, I like to think so.

~Moved to general discussion.

Every networking site is dangerous. You should never meet anyone online unless you're positive on who they are. And if you are going to meet them, make sure you're old enough. I highly don't recommend anyone under the age of 17 or lower to meet anyone online. Unless they bring a friend or two with them.

edit:
So I read the news article. It all started on myspace? O_o
Well that's a completely different topic on bullying. =__=;

No site is safe. Not even Crunchyroll. You don't know how many weird people there are out there.
And I would never give out my Friendster, Myspace, Facebook, etc kind of thing to people I don't know.

no website is safe I believe, that's why I don't post my pictures up on facebook and I don't use myspace.
I think myspace can be pretty safe if you sign up with an alias and never post any pictures of yourself on there.
I hate facebook, people post pictures of you without your permission, then tag them to you gr...

MySpace is really a silly site. From what I've seen and heard of from friends and the media, it's not a very safe site in terms of sending out personal information. MySpace easily lets teenagers give out phone numbers and all of that, and that's never good to do.

Plus, you never know whom you're speaking with, and if you act stupid and meet with them, you have a good chance of finding a guy who deserves to be on To Catch a Predator....

Compared to websites like Facebook and Twitter it seems a lot worse...and more pathetic. It's not safe and moreso idiotic to fall in love with a MySpace boy who's really a 60-y-o or hate your life (if you aren't emo already) if your MySpace isn't popular or if you get into a fight on there.
