Duh.
If he can shut it off for someone in America, it's not that hard to do it in for another country. Like say... Canada.

He can't shut down the internet.

Only thing that'll happen, is that the Americans can't use the internet, and the rest of the world can't access sites that are American based.

Which leaves all of Africa, Europe, Asia, Australia and those other places with internet.

I however, find it worrying that they think it is necessary with such overkilling measures, that basically just kills "freedom of speech".

Which reminds me of how carebear and annoying things have been lately, when it comes to internet in general.

This is a load of bullshit used to scare the masses into a frenzied mob, Obamas trying to protect us and thats the reason for this for his Cyber Security Advisory Panel as the actually name not fucking Obama cyber security and it proposes a means to protect us from threats. Hackers create viruses a virus is written to exploit a hole in the operating system. The operating system is patched, and the anti-virus is updated to look for the threat. The virus is updated to look different, or attack a different hole in the OS. Again, the hole is patched, anti-virus is updated. and on and on... Hackers arent caught because they think "outside of the box" nor do they follow checklists, or established rules. They have the time to spend to find the hole in your system and they have the luxury of anonymity provided by the current loose structure of the internet itself.

It is for all intents and purposes an arms race. The bad guys attack with a new "weapon", the good guys update their defense and close the holes, the bad guys create something new and thus the cycle goes on.

Look if u think that ur personal freedom of speech is more important than the National Security of the entire country then i suppose that there is some merit to wat i consider to be your paranoid fantasy about impending doom from some abstract Big Brother. On the other hand, the more reasonable perspective is to realize that there are genuine world wide threats involved in the present structure of the internet by agencies and individuals with extremely malicious intentions. Because of that, it is quite necessary for there to be some measure of central control by the government in order to protect the infrastructure of the nation I personally feel your concerns about your potential loss of anonymity due to such government interventions to be self-centered and reckless.
