Batsu and Nazo Guardian Characters

I was wondering, what the heck makes a character change into a Batsu Character instead of a generic X-Character? For example, Dia's first form we see is Batsu (or X) Dia. Yet when other guardian characters change they become normal run of the mill X-Characters.

Same goes for Nazo Characters, like Nazo Cecil. Nana is the only other guardian character who has an opportunity to do this and she just goes back into her egg.

Also, what determines what they look like? It seems to me like they try to reverse the colors or something, put on weird eyes, and make them have blank expressions.

In that vein, I thought I would try to make one, so I tried making "Batsu Miki". The main thing I note is I have no artist implements nor a bag that might hold them, so this might not be complete.


Does this look convincing as a so called "X-Miki"? What would other Batsu or Nazo Guardian Characters look like?

Maybe Darken the skin a little then It would look like X-miki? I dont know

That is the exact x-dia picture I used as a base...

I noted that Nazo Cecil had even lighter skin so that made me unsure what direction to go.

i dont believe there isn't a coherent pattern or template to follow thats a pretty good pic btw

i guess as long as u convey that the character's opposite appearance, while maintaining the theme that goes with each character its all good

Just added another one (X-Ran). Approx 5.5 hours on this. 4 most likely if you don't count interruptions. I am sort of hoping to improve my skills at this to be able to do it much faster. I'll likely be getting back to the egg topic tomorrow.

then u could have put spikey X's in the pompoms anyway its not like she could put much force behind a swing with that toothpick

I think that white thing is that one type of brush when you BBQ or something... Lol I can imagine a Knife but that would seem too dangerous for kids to watch if Batsu Suu was real..
