Things can get really REALLY rough and hard sometimes, but as it says in James 1:2 "Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds," Personally, I think this is one of the hardest things to do (if not the single hardest thing). Sometimes you feel like you go through so much stress, work, depression, disappointment, and discouragement and you just want your trials and fires to end right now. In my life I have been going through some stuff for several months, and as I pray for God to deliver me it seems that I am only met with disappointment and things just get harder and harder. Sometimes it feels like your prayers aren't heard and that God is distant in your time of pain and trial, but the truth is completely the opposite. God never promised that life would be easy, or that being a child of God would always be fun and happy. He does promise that He will never leave us or forsake us. We can be hurting, discouraged, and lonely, but we are never alone. God will never forsake us. It's easy to feel like God isn't there for you in your fires and trials when you pray and you are met with disappointment. It's really rough to keep going, but God is never far! God will always sustain you and give you what you need to get through things, whether it be scripture, words of encouragement, or a peace in your spirit, God is always there when you seek Him. This has been something that has been hard for me to accept, but God puts us through fires and trials to develop us and equip us. We all know the story of Job, how he lost his children and then later was rejected by his friend, and then later rejected by his wife, and then later afflicted with sickness, and then left in the loneliness. Job wasn't perfect, he even wished he wasn't born and wanted to die. Yet in his fires and struggles he never cursed God. His wife told him to "curse God and die," his friends offered no compassion or sympathy, they said his suffering was due to an unrepented sin in his life. Through all this God was present in Job's life, and God eventually delivered Job and blessed him with double of what he had before. Job sinned and wasn't perfect, but he never cursed God. King David went through many fires and trials in his life and slipped up many times. Before David became king, Saul was pursuing him in hopes of killing him. David knew that he was anointed to be Israel's next king, but during his time of running from Saul he fled to the Philistines because he feared that eventually Saul would get him. Fear is probably the most destructive emotion. David had a lack of faith when he ran to the Philistines, he knew he was to be king and that God's promises never fail. But even though David lacked faith, God still delivered him when he came back. Hezekiah was a king, and he became very sick. Isaiah prophesied that Hezekaiah would die. After hearing that, Hezekiah prayed to God and the Lord healed Him and added 15 years to his life. God has a purpose for us in our trials and fires. Sometimes it is to refine us, to test us, to build up our faith, to equip us. After Hezekiah was delivered he had this to say in Isaiah 38:17 "Surely it was for my benefit that I suffered such anguish. In your love you kept me from the pit of destruction; you have put all my sins behind your back." It was to Hezekiah's benefit that he go through what he did. It was to David's benefit that he went through what he did. It was to Job's benefit that he went through what he did. God is Love, and every action from Him is an act of love. God's Love is no less when we sin, when we are in trials and fires, and when we mess up. He is always there to bring us back and use those times for our benefit. God doesn't always call the equipped, but He ALWAYS equips the called. David was called to be king, and God used David's trials to equip him, to rely on the Lord so that when he becomes king he would seek God's provision. And we can see in the Bible that that is what David did. God used those tough times to equip David, so that God could bless him and use him. We are children of God, and we are never ever alone in our fires and trials no matter how hard they may be. There are times when you sob, when you wake up in the middle of the night and just cry out to God, when tears run down your face and you feel sick to your stomach. In those times God is right there beside you listening to every word. Psalm 56:8 says "You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book." Your prayers are never unheard. God knows the tears you cry and the sorrows you have, and just because it seems like He isn't listening we can have faith and know that He is, and that He is there feeling our sorrows with us and crying with us because He loves us with an unfailing love! God has a plan for all of our lives, and if you are going through something it may be God equipping you for something awesome he has for you to do! Fires and trials may seem to go on forever, but God is there in the midst of all of it. God does deliver according to His will. In Philippians 1:6 it says "being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." God will complete the things He starts in your life, you may just be being equipped during these times to serve Him. Regardless though, God has a plan and purpose for everything. The Bible says to have CONFIDENCE and know that God will bring our works to completion, he isn't going to call us to do something and leave us. God is a deliverer, he is a silversmith that refines us in the fire so that we can reflect his image in our lives. The joy of being a child of God is that we are never hopeless! The joy of the Lord is our strength! Things may just totally suck and you may stumble, but God loves you no less and He's got you in His hands! His love isn't conditional upon whether or not our lives seem happy. He loves us in our storms and the Bible says in Psalm 46:1 that "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble." Be patient during these times, God's gotcha in His Intimate and Loving Embrace and He's never ever EVER going to let go of you! God's love is bigger then your storms, your trials, your fears, your sorrows, and your fires. Sometimes we need to step back and not tell God how big our problems are, but tell our problems how big our God is! When you feel overworked, exhausted, and just feel like you can't go on, call on the Lord! He's gonna help ya, I promise! He always gives us what we need, and we can know and believe that He is our ever present help in times of trouble. Be patient and wait on Him, let Him teach you and never loose faith. Be willing to be equipped for what God has for you to do, and in everything praise Him. Take it all with joy because in God's Love He is making you better so that His plan for you may unfold, so that you may be as James 1:4 "Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." Let these be encouraging to you. Persevere, cry out to God, let the tears flow and give Him the anguish in your heart. Give it all over to Him, He cares for you and is right there with you when you wake up at 3:30am and just start sobbing in your bed or when you hear bad news or feel like the opposite of what you pray for happens. God never loves you less during anything or if you do anything wrong. I'm in a time like this, and I've been in it for a long time (by my human standards) and it's so so hard to do. God is here for me. God is there for you as well! Your Father has you in His Loving arms.

I guess you could say He caught some more tears after I read this. Digs-nii-san, that was really amazing. I have so much time nowadays ('cept for school ) and I really understand what you're saying. Trials and tribulations is a burning fire that's melting away our horrible sinful selves. We end up a masterpiece when God takes us out and inspects his works. We may be stubborn and think he's not there, but He always is. This feels so much like de ja vu. I'm reading this book and the story has this part, where Bonnie (a very strong character in faith) and even she was tested. Fire crawled up her as she was put to the test. No matter how much it hurt, how much it burned, she continued for she knew that her Savior would save her again. Just like us ne? Bonnie is one of the story characters I wanna be a lot like. I hope someone could relate. The series is Dragons in Our Midst by Bryan Davis, but the story I'm reading is the last of his series. He is an amazing writer and just an awesome mentor to the mind and spirit. <3

Trials will suck, there can be no doubt about that. My freshman year of College, I was having trouble with my classes and despairing over the whole thing. However, God provided a way out after praying several times for help.

One important lesson I've learned about trials is this:

A lot of trials are sent from God for refining us and strengthening us as Christians. However, there are still the trials that are 100% self-induced. Those, however, are brought on by our own sin. As humbling, sobering, and painful as it may be, it always helps to know the difference between the two, because mistaking one for the other and acting on the wrong perspective can end up to be very costly.

Sometimes, people learn better and remember better if they make a lot of mistakes in the process. That way, they don't repeat the error again.
