I was hoping for some real brain eating human zombie action. But yeah, sure. Snails could work too

Wait.. this is about snails? PAH xD

you never know.
Those snails can fuck you up pretty bad if you aren't careful :p

No really... most parasites are specialized to specific species. In other words, a snail parasite is specific to snails - human parasites to humans. If you try eating the bird shit, you'll probably just curse at how bad it tastes and vomit your head off.

And as far as parasites controlling the mind is concerned, it happens in other cases, as well. Perhaps it's more accurate to say "altered cognition" rather than actual mind controlling, in that what happens is that the infected organism simply acts "weird". Smaller creatures, like snails, that have simpler neural systems might have more blatant signs of altered cognition, like going atop of plants when they usually don't (I think this also happens in the Bot fly life cycle, where it makes ants go atop of blades of grass). But as far as humans are concerned, I don't think it can do anything as drastic as making us climb atop of buildings, or anything like that. However, it will probably make us do things that would help spread the infection, further.

Classic example is rabies (although this isn't really a parasite, it's actually a virus). Altered cognition in this disease is basically going nuts, with an incessant desire to bite someone. In biting, the virus is transmitted, and yada yada...

THIS IS HORRIBLE. ):

Snails and humans are opposite species (if it's possible to say) and snails are too primitive so their brain/body is easy to control. It would take much "better" parasite to control such creatures as elephant, dolphin or man.

Maybe I'm wrong, it's just my thought.

Zombies aren't real. Animals that look like zombies are real though.
