OKE!!

when we are talking about education, the first thing crossing our minds is SCHOOL! our eternal enemy...or friend...? lol..
The truth is that during summer i was so bored that i was praying for the schools to start..but,now that the schools are gonna open i m saying.."pf,who's gonna start again...?" and most of my friends say so..

..i guess it's a weird relationship...who knows...

our system here is simple...(i think..)
Until the age of 7 u are at the kindergarten...u play,u sing,u eat..( ),u sleep there...and then when ur parents are finished with their job they come and pick u up..another solution is to be taken care by ur grandparents..

After that u go for six years in public school...at the first classes u learn to read,to write,to count...the most important lessons are maths, history and language...
At the final classes u always take physics, and science lessons,as well as u take lessons for the english language and either french or dutch...

When u graduate from public school,u go to the Junior High...3 years..
Here the subjects are more and difficult...
U start taking lessons in Ancient Greek..something really hard as long some things are not the same..or becoz u know other things but u can explain..Ancient Greek is a language full of rules(rules about how to separate the kind of phrases, rules about accents,rules...rules...rules....) ,irregular verbs and nouns..generally,ur mind is driven mad! BUT U HAVE TO LEARN THAT!
History and Maths become more complicated...chemistry and science, too! Biology is a plus, too!
Generally school is a really difficult theme...becoz of that we,teenagers almost have no free time..i will explain

Our school lasts 7 hours..from 8 in the morning till almost 2 and a half...in that hours the only thing we do is...be examined and moving on...so we have to do the schoolwork in our houses..(simple u think, but i doubt!)
we are home and starting do our homework..(i personally am a student of 19/20...that means excellent....i study daily 3 hours...but when it comes the testing period..well,i can say that i had been studying for 6 hours once..)
But,it's not just school...some students that have a difficulty in some subjects have to take extra lessons..(AND of course not in school!)
THAT is what we called "frontistiria"...of course u pay...a lot...so to have a help in something u are not good and want to improve...(well,almost all my schoolmates take lessons in maths, ancient gree, greek, physics, chemistry and other things...)..so u can calculate the hours spend there too!
OH!! and it's not only school!

WE have to learn english first of all and then whatever we want...but mostly french, dutch, spanish, italian(the most known languages)..2 hours plus...

and,it's not just about studying...some teens wanna participate in other activities...so we have music lessons, sports lessons(football,basketball...and others..) and a few things...

Oh,and by the way ...we want to sleep to,right?

Personally,during winter i m sleeping 6 to 7 hours a day...coz i don't have such things to do...

OH! AND THE BEST! WE are just in JUnior HIgh....forgot...?

Yup,yup,yup...in HIGH SCHOOL...u can image how things are....no free time at all....and in the final year before "Panelinies"(before siting exams so as to see ur mark and decide where u CAN go..)..the students who has an aim and want to pass somewhere are studying...again and again...revisions and again revisions...
That's why almost everyone for these other 3 years in HighSchool stop everything..and have just SCHOOL!

Education for me never stops as they say you learn somthing new everyday and as todays society is geared towards the persuit of inteligence and education is a primary factor when earning the status of being called a first world country and is more important than ever and needs to change and progress as society does but should not just encombas academics as phycological and emotional education to me is just as important due to the fact that we decided to live as a society rather than as hermits this is because by coming together we can specialise whilst one person provides food another can be free to invent or be artistic so that it is vital for our future development to teach young minds how to socialy and emotionaly interact when living in a group so that society can maintain itself and advance ecinomicaly as well as technologicaly and to a certain degree we do this in the primary stage of education through play and in Wales they teach outside the class room through this method to a much older class but belive that this isn't far enough as we are all aware when the body and mind go through puberty our sexual and interlectual self changes and if we are to have a better society belive this is a very crucial stage in a persons social development. I also belive that like no two people are the same that there is no one correct teaching method as we see many promising children/youths slip through the educational net due to a lack of foresite to be able to find a method to teach the harder to reach students and they become jaded and some even resort to destructive behaviour we are taking steps in the right direction bringing education to all (at least in 1st world countries) but like society in general we are far from being perfect.

Ah yes, I only attended elementary school in Greece, and was forced to go to American schools for the rest of my educational years. My subject knowledge in American schools is incredibly lacking, and almost all teachers really don't care for the students. :/

Sometimes I wish I could go to Greek schools instead, even though they are far more rigorous than American schooling. You see, I enjoy learning, and I feel that my schools are limiting me to only half of the desired information. Most American schools only learn half of what European schools do. That makes me really sad, and I hope to study abroad in the future instead of seeking further American education.

Even though Greek schools are very tough, as I have heard about and read text books from my cousins in Greece, you guys are really lucky. :(
For now, I have to subject myself to outside studies online in order to gain my needed knowledge in order to succeed.

if only canadian schools wer like that.... thered be ALOT less problems... canada ontario there is to much free time... and that is the down side.... kindergarten is the same... as is public school.. only in candain schools there is ALOT of bullies.. and because of our laws teachers are practicly powerless to stop it... canada the land of the free.... problem is there is to to MUCH free dome... teachers cant hit kids or punish them.. most kids are okay... but all fit into some kind of gruop , eg. emo, cool, dorky aka nerds, then there are ones like me... who dont fit into any gruop... and if you arent IN your a prime target for bullies and punks.... leaving you only three optoins. stay under the radar, fight back, or join their "ranks"..... sigh... what happened to the days of the strap or stuff like that when teachers had POWER to keep brats in line...... any way we get two 15 minut breaks and a one hour lunch every day.... far to much time to get into trouble.... we need stricter rules for school
