EDIT: Wow, it just got wanky in here. Not that I mind. But if you're going to argue, stay on topic and don't just start flaming for the sake of flaming. Then it's just annoying.

EDIT EDIT: Long quotes should go under spoilers/be erased as you continue your debate. It's not that big of an issue, but it helps keep the thread a lot cleaner.

EDIT EDIT EDIT: This topic hates you. Seriously, if it bothers you guys that much, no one is making you look at it. I'm certain it'll get locked if it becomes too much of a problem, but other than that, it's not going down just because some of you don't like it.

I go on here and people are like "AMERICA IS SO AWFUL. WHY DOES IT EXIST? ALL AMERICANS ARE FAT AND THEY ALL TRY TO RIP OFF -INSERT COUNTRY HERE-. I HATE AMERICA." (They're not like that literally. For the most part.)

And I'm just wondering why people are like that. I mean, I personally think it's kind of immature. Hating an entire country and calling everything that comes out of it 'rip offs' or 'wannabes' is just ridiculous. It bothers me. Maybe that's just because I've always wanted to live in America. Dunno. I think that disliking what the government is doing with the country is one thing, but that's not exactly the citizens faults, right? Plus, it's not like every single American is fat or stupid or really any of the rude stereotypes people throw around about them. It's really derogatory and honestly quite pathetic. Also, things that happened in the past =/= valid excuse to hate the country. Just sayin'.

So, anyway, enough from me. What're your reasons if you dislike America? And if you don't, why do you think some people do?

(I am going to rage like the fist of the north star over here but I'll try to shut up and let everyone state their opinions.)

Yes people tend to generalize a lot. Don't let it bother you. There are good people and awful people in every country
Another reason why people might hate America is probably because of politics. I don't bother with that. Even though America is a democracy, I don't see the previous president caring about the people's opinion about war in the middle east or whatever. When it comes down to it, communism or democracy, almost the same thing. When the big guy on the chair decides to go to war, it is war. He can pull out later when "the people" start to complain and whine, but by then it's already too late

Damn, I was about to something along those lines haha. It's pointless to argue the obvious reasons of why america is good because people who hate it won't change and frankly, It doesn't matter.

Tecnhically, america is not a officialized democracy. We are in fact a "Constitutional republic". But using the consititution, the laws and ways the public vote for members of office, and are also free to pursue politics, makes us a republic that uses democracy to act. You see, democracy is isn't officially a form of government, but it is a method governments can use in conjoined with whatever ideals are behind there government. Fortunately, a republic has all of the ideals/morals in order to establish a form of democracy.

I see... So my teachers lied to me
Well, doesn't matter , I'm not into politics as long as I can live here happily the rest of my life... =P
And I agree with your previous post, another reason why so many people hate America is probably because they hate a country that is more well off. Jealousy is sour and acidic like vinegar

Well all nations have their evils. America is no exception, we have done some terrible things like any other nation. To top it all off, we act like global police for the rest of the nations which makes other nations feel bullied even though we do it in order for what is globally accepted as "good intentions".

However it is nice you can live a partly worry free life, although things do change. As long as you are not ignorant to the fact that people fought and died to get your lifestyle to where it is.

As far as your teaching lying, I wouldn't say that. Calling america a democracy is common standard. Because even though we are a republic, we are a far modified republic in democratic doctorine. For example, you can have a doctorites degree in something like Archaeology. You do NOTHING doctor related as a Archaeologist, But people will still adress you with Dr. at the beginning. Because legally, even though you dig up disosour bones in a desert, you have a doctorites.

Not really. There are thousands, millions of rediculous reasons people hate america. Pick one.

I don't hate America, but I don't love it either.
This is just because a lot of other countries have exotic places, interesting different cultures, etc.
