French immigration minister Eric Besson has announced he will clear the makeshift tents in Calais known as the jungle. The report by Onyeka Igwe, reveals the true hell of the Calais ‘jungle’ and the incredible journeys migrants have made to get there. Besson claims clearing the ‘jungle’ is a humanitarian action, but this report tells a different tale and makes the case for Open Borders. Besson’s disgraceful initiative to preserve UK border controls is guaranteed to provide further hell for the aspirant young migrants whose only crime is wanting to make a better life for themselves. Besson is not offering migrants accommodation but is promising repatriation. Humanitarian?

You can watch the report here:

My opinion

Basically, these people are being prevented from entering the UK as there is a "close borders" policy. They cannot travel any further than Calais because of this and are being forced to live in squats like the jungle. These people have travelled so far seeking for a better life but what do they get in return? Nothing if not more pain. UK is not the only country that does this and there are many other countries that follow the "close borders" policy and there are many other countries around the world that do.

The things said in this video, of the desperate things people do for a better life such as cling onto boats so that they can enter that country. But this is illegal therefore the people on the boat are forced to throw people off. Isnt this horrific? Many people die on the journey.

Is it so wrong to seek a better life? But now they are "clearing" the place called "Jungle". What will happen to these people? I hope they will be able to seek a better life.

What are your opinions on this story?

i think it's a little too much..should the government go that far? there are lots of alternatives..
it's very inhuman indeed.

and to those who live in the "jungle," cant they have another choice? it's like a false dilemma

I Just hate how this world had changed and never stop changing...
When will we learn how to accept each other ...?! i mean in the end we are all Humans , we were all created by the same God
Why do we keep on humiliating each other...?!
This is against Humanity you know..

This really sucks. Just knowing that I'm in front of my computer doing nothing really hurts me.
I want to do something about these kind of issues one day, but I'm not quite sure how to start.
All I can do is pray that those people are able to start anew in peace. ;]

hmmmmm. it's a hard world out there, we who are born in a some what stable country take for granted what we have and turn a blind eye to those who suffer in other country. I cannot even imagine myself picking up and leaving everything to go to a different country. it's so sad to see what we do to each other, the criminals in our prison system who have no interest in helping our society gets treated better then outsiders who wants to come in to learn and help.

I guess thats the nature of human beings seek to stop anything that threatens our so call civilize way of life, we may have come along way in terms of technology but as human beings we're not so different from our past. I'm not saying I'm a saint, because I am quilty of doing those things myself and against some people (not race) those actions are warrented. From what we saw from the report, there are people out there who is trying to fight against our instinct and make a boardless world, so humans are moving foward slowly but surely we are.

There are people who can change the world in masses, sad to say I am not one of them but I hope I can change my own little group and how they view the world and they in turn will pass that on to others. for now I'll just do what I can do and treat my fellow human with compassion and respect don't misunderstand me I will kick your ass if I have to..

Even if the UK is, literally an island, must it be an island from the rest of the world~?
Haha. Pun. I can kinda see why the government do it though, I guess. Because people have a habit of coming here and taking advantage of the welfare system, and uh well because they can, unlike say France.
Though it is horrible to hear of people who've travelled so far in search of nothing but a better life (we all know we'd want one) and they're just told no...

But hang on, am I missing something here? What's so bad about the rest of Europe that people cling to the side of boats to get to the UK?
Surely France or Germany is still better than wherever they're coming from, and apparently they're allowed to stay there...?

Thats what I was wondering. Why do people want to go to the UK when France and the other countries are just as good.

aren't you guys over reacting? considering that they traveled to UK when they had closed border policies, its their fault. besides do you know what kinda pandemic you might spread by allowing an open door policy and let these people come in as they like?

like someone above said, why bother staying in UK then? MOVE if you don't like staying in "the jungle"

yeah but seriously , whats wrong with the first european country they entered? why must they go to UK then?

and l think they got some points too..the economy is the biggest problem! i read from somewhere that over the past year there were over 500 thousand babies born in UK to foreigners.

i really feel sorry for these people..
but the question is :
what are France, Germany, Italy, etc, doing to support the migrants? Why do they all seem to want to go to UK?
they need to fix things whilst they can, without making things worse for both themselves and also legitimate immigrants...

Really now? Isn't this what happens everywhere? I mean, whenever you are trying to flee into another country, they will reject you, send your back to your fatherland whilst sitting in jail. There's 99 % chance that you will die during the process.
Also, good riddance for the fags who don't understand the term '' closed boundaries''
