I've never been good with daily devotions and I'm really looking for something I can use as a tool to strengthen my relationship with Christ and gain more knowledge of scripture. Does anyone have any that they would suggest?

Well, before I go anywhere in my car I have an index card that sits right in front of steering wheel so before I start the car my daughter and I read that scripture and sing a song. It is not much but it is a start.

You can do that or put a scripture on a post it and read it while brushing teeth. Sorry my suggestions are boring.

Yay, there is finally use for my church website! They have like a short devotionals everyday. You can subscribe if you like. Email subscriptions :)

Don't be put off by it being from my church, I tell myself that if it's God I'm knowing about, I don't CARE who tells it to me. So yes, I loot and plunder from many american, singapore, canadian churches and their sermon messages without the slightest guilt.

Today:

Lifting Songs Of Praise To The Lord

Ephesians 5:17
17Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

God wants us to walk as wise men and women and not as fools. (Ephesians 5:15) Now, He will not tell us to walk in wisdom without showing us how to. That’s why His Word goes on to say, “Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.”

What is the will of God? The next two verses tell us how to identify it: “And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.” (Ephesians 5:18–19)

As you allow yourself to be filled with the Spirit by lifting songs of praise to the Lord, singing or speaking — God knows some of us can’t sing — psalms, hymns and spiritual songs, and making melody in your heart to the Lord, God promises that you will know what His will is for your situation. You will then have the wisdom to decide wisely what to do next.

I have found this to be true in my own life. Whenever I face a difficult situation, the more I think about it, the more confused I get. The more I try my best to come up with a wise answer, the further the answer seems to get from me. But when I turn away from my problem and turn to God, singing in the Spirit and praising Him, I get a clearer perspective of the problem when I come back to it later. I also find an inner prompting to make certain decisions which in the end, turn out to be better than anything I could have come up with on my own.

So in good times, lift up songs of praise to the Lord. In bad times, still lift up songs of praise to the Lord. For when you fill your life with praise, God will lead you and guide you in all the affairs of your life. Even if you are stuck with a problem, He will show you the way to go or make a way out for you. Either way, you will get the wisdom and help that you need!

And if you need a verse from the Bible for special needs: http://www.newcreation.org.sg/resources/confesstheword/healthhealing.html

They have a FEW PAGES of stuff there. Oh when you're there, do also try to watch our online sermons! There's only 2, but my pastor is one heck of a funny guy!

Join a small group, or a bible study. I look forward to church every Sunday morning, youth group every Sunday night, small group every Wednesday, and bible study every other Saturday, because I yearn to learn more about God. I love having others to grow in Christ with. Fellowship is an amazing gift, take advantage of it. If there are no small groups, nor any bible studies that you can find, start one yourself. God will teach you so much through one.

wow ! you guys are awesome ^___^

I started my own Devotional (Quiet time) last January 4, 2008.
I decided to do that when we have a Youth Leadership camp in our Christian School and someone left a bible (that was The Gideons) near our tent. There was no name on it ,., then i thought it was a sign for me to have devotions every morning when waking up and every evening when going to sleep.

Though The bible really speaks in Riddles that's why sometimes i cant understand the real meaning.

Reading Our Daily Bread is my devotion. ODB addresses some issues that we face and helping us find biblical answers and challenging us to daily apply God's Word in our lives.

I joined the UST Center for Campus Ministry. I'm a certified Thomasian Volunteer. We are the one that handles the university's recollection, confirmation and other religious affair.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. -- Psalm 46:1

animewinry, ask for God's wisdom to dawn upon you. By his grace, let Him BE your wisdom, in order to interpret scriptures as you meditate upon them. His Living Word never grows old, Jesus speaks in parables that those who understand be able to reap plentiful meanings out of it. His living word speaks to you as you read it, therefore don't be in a hurry to rush it. God will explain if you ask Him.

This will bless you, this will bless you, this will bless you GREATLY! Do watch the video of the Father's Love Letter I posted then read these pages. It will give you strength when you need it, it will comfort your heart when you earn for it, it will bring you closer to God, and help you realise exactly how precious you are to Him.

If you dislike yourself, you have disregarded the Lord, who put so much value on you.
