I was wondering if anyone can enlighten us on the actual contents of "The Birth of Shiroyasha" DVD that comes out Sept. 30th. Seems to me like no one has the slightest factual clue.. anyhow here is the link if you're confused. Gintama Wiki I know it supposedly has the 2005 and 2008 OVA but the total run time of the DVD doesnt account for just those two ಠ_ಠ

well that poster i always assumed was a joke (heck we all did) supposedly The Birth of Shiroyasha was the 2008 ova at jump festa, can assume its about gintoki's past but not alot of info out there about it. gotta say completely unsure if its real or fake, though i did find a link to this video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AkaQPY7SJB4&feature=related

again since we're dealing with gintama and the fact noone can find much info on this its really hard to tell if this is real or just a cruel joke lol.

ah man but if its real lets hope someone subs it.

Yeah, I hope so too. Seriously. I've been looking forward to that one since I first heard about it. Even though it's only ten minutes, at least it shows something about their past. I mean, we've seen little since the anime series started, so this would be good.

lol, Zerobalda. Sry to burst your bubble....that isn't a clip that's pretty much the whole "Shiroyasha" past of the 10 min OVA.

Spoiler warning
The rest is just Gin-san and the rest of the crew sitting in a movie theater taking about the shiroyasha ova itself. At least that is what i am guessing. I just saw the raw so i could be wrong and MAYBE by some insane reasoning they actually say something useful, but my guess is they are just making jokes, etc the rest of the 6 and a half minutes.

I've seen it and you can say it's very Gintama-like.

Despite the clip of Gin-san's past being only about four minutes (not to mention Gin-san said that the movie preview was just a "joke"), it's still pretty fun to watch. After all, it is Gintama. You can't watch the series so full of drama without the comedy. It has to have comedy no matter what the situation. :)

Still hoping for a real movie though. XD

lol i don't recall complaining once in what i said. Just mentioning to ppl to not get there hopes up for some 30 minute or even 10 minute Shiroyasha SRZ moment. I mean at this point if you have been watching Gintama you are usually just holding your breath and asking "WHAT will happen" rather then "IF something will happen". AKA the trolling moments (not criticizing Gintama, i love the trolls that they do and enjoy it quite abit :P)

i mean it can do purely srz moments, example being the Yoshiwara, or even the upcoming Arc (the one airing today, assuming you have read the manga you will know what i mean by "serious"). These two arcs show that Gintama can do quite well without comedy. With that being said obviously Gintama was made as a comedy/parody anime, and i have no real "assumptions" on it ever holding a serious tone for more then 20 minutes.

It's still very vague at least you learn how Takasugi Shinsuke loses his eye but it gives you more questions rather than answers there's also that mysterious enemy of theirs it looked like he had no trouble fending of both Gin and Shinsuke.

lol just to be clear I'm not saying that Gintama wouldn't survive only with pure drama or anything, I mean the Yoshiwara arc and the upcoming arc (I've read the manga) are pretty awesome themselves. I'm simply stating the fact that, you know, after all seriousness, it goes back to comedy like how after all arcs it goes back to the funny stuff. I mean, the OVA itself did that. After that preview being with no laughs, they assume the regular Gintama attitude, taking the preview as a joke and making fun of anything and everything after.

Judging by Takasugi's words "I see... You're from that time's..." , I think it's probably someone related to Shoyo-sensei's death.

Really hope a this movie comes out. But I think it is impossible, knowing Gintama. The end of the OVA when young Gintoki crying out 'shoyo sensei' was touching. Then I thought he had threw away the book after spilling ramen on it???

I think what he's saying then was "the past is the past." That the book has nothing to do with him anymore. That he is moving forward. You know, that kind of stuff... since he's the type to think that.

I'm hoping a movie comes out though. I mean, c'mon. The Benizakura arc was real, right? And they were saying it was fake, too. We'll see. I'm hoping, though.

Hmm...The Benizakura arc was in the manga storyline, so it turns out in the anime too. If there is really no movie, all we can hope is one day Sorachi decide to create an arc which show us Gin's past with his sensei and former comrades. But that will probably be when he has run out of comedic storylines.....

That's true... but... Gintama can't just leave us up in the air! They have to make something, lol. XD
