I'm only saying "It has a lot of human rights". I am saying that they have a lot of human rights, so does many other countries. I am simply comparing Canada to other countries with poor human rights.

Every city has crimes. I been in LA all my life, and I have not seen crimes personally. So, I can say with the same conviction that LA is safer than Japan, at least the Am Shinkyo don't have very many members here with Sarin Gas.

Japan has one of the lowest (if not THE lowest considering the size of the population) crime rates in the whole world, and most heavy crimes committed in Japan are by foreigners. So sure, please believe whatever you want but the facts and statistics are not on your side. America is one of the most (among civilized countries) violent places on earth where approximately 50 people are getting murdered everyday (+ thousands of muggings, rapes, assaults etc).

Some reading for you:

So sorry mate i don't agree there with you. Japan is one of the safest places on earth and will always be.
The same can be said about South Korea as well.

Beside, the only safe place in the world is a place where there dwell no beast that has the ability to inflict harm upon another creature, in other words, an empty space, and you will find that the heart of Greenland and the 'true north' fits this description well.

Well I can refer you to the song about 4 or five posts above, for why the Beaver is the greatest of them all.

Historically I suspect it's a carry over from the fur trade. There was a time when Beaver was Canada's reason d'etre.

Notwithstanding Clause, quite a clause indeed.

back to the topic at hand.

1: Aussie, Aussie, Aussie! - Just cant beat home =/

2: Canada, mainly due to the fact that I believe from personal and friend experience that this culture is the closest to or most welcoming to my own (australian)

3: Gonna have to go to those charts and say those Nordics seem to have something going for them.

YEAH! Aussies are great! one of the few fellow commonwealth countries with which we can feel truly filial. ( no need to feel England's patronization, or any hand me down imperial guilt)

or maybe it's the accent.... I donno.

The notwithstanding clause has nothing to do with our national animal.

It's basically a clause in our constitution that allows legislators to pass laws 'notwithstanding' any contradiction by the bill of rights.

ergo our bill of rights is meaningless should parliament or a provincial legislature choose to ignore it.
