I would put my money on Merry old England, mainly because Blake, Shakespeare, Byron, Dickens, Christ, and Monty Python was there concieved and interred. Just to breath the same air they once breathed and walk on lands they once travelled is a blessing in itself.

And did those feet, in ancient times
walk upon England's mountain green
And was the holy lamb of God
On England's pleasant Pasture seen?

And was the countenance divine,
shined forth upon our clouded hills
And was Jerusalem builded there
Among these dark satanic mills.

Bring me my bow of burning gold
Bring me my arrows of desire
Bring be my spear, O Clouds unfold,
Bring me my chariot of fire.

I will not cease, from mental fight
Nor shall the sword sleep in my hand
Until we've built Jerusalem
On England's green and pleasant land.

Also, for those who want to live in Japan without any serious reasoning, there are some reasons not to do so in the long term, especially if you're not the majority:

1. If you are any Asian but Japanese, you will be treated quite badly, to say the least. Your pay will suck, and racism is still an issue. This is a country where the locals will say that they're not racist because they tolerate black people, but the next minute will say to lock their doors because there's a Chinese person in the neighbourhood.

2. Suicide rates. One of the highest in the world. Stress rates are up there too, and a connection between the two is not surprising.

why is it that whites are mostly the ones crying about racism in Japan?

Because Asians have racial and sexual prejudices written as part of their legislation, therefore to them racism as well as sexism are political issues with different opinions, not a violation against universal human rights act. And no other nation should get involve with another nation's politics, or so they claimed.

Japan? You mean that sad little island whose population is about as fertile as Panda bears? Where they sell games about stalking and raping random girls? Where a McDonald hamburger worth about twice as much as the GDP of Honduras?

Why go there when there's China nearby.

Well, I am Chinese and I still find many things about Japan distasteful, like worshipping WWII War Criminals or omitting the Rape of Nanking from their textbook (Nanking? Rape? I don't know what you are talking about. Nothing ever happened, Ha! Ha!)

Japan is one of the most developed countries in the world (#8 HDI rating), China is not even a developed country. The random things you've brought up have no relevance, every country has lots of problems, and those are probably the least important of Japan's problems. China is a totalitarian state, we wouldn't even have to time to discuss all the problems it has. There are great parts of China, but there are great parts of every country. There's a good reason China isn't a developed country yet.

It is a whole lot cheaper to live in China than to live in Japan, and you still get the rare old Collective mentality of Japan. I would also like to disagree with you on these 'little problem'. The frist is an outright acknowledged national crisis, the second reflect poorly on a nation that allows such things to even be legal, and the third, well, that in itself is a problem for people who are not made of money and wear gilded suits, all the while smoking flavored Cuban Cigars.

Also, I have actually lived in China before, with me relatives, and that I can speak a variation of Chinese, so I can say that I would like it far more than among climes and culture I am not familiar with.

Norway from memory I think it 2/5. well if it for the environment these top four do not have to much over development. What what about over all income. tax rates can you see a doctor of your own choosing. Well beer and wine in allot of those counties is cheap, but food and fuel electricity, how can you be fat and happy. then again Beef that taste like grass is fairly gross. The Canadians are trying to convince the others how good they have it from a U.N report. what with the okra picture fried it is eatable boiled it disgusting
