Then that's not a real debate. Why should I get the power to cripple you and/or what you want to say and/or how you say it? You say crime prevention is impossible, and you have whatever results you have. I say it's not, and I have the results I have. What good is something if neither side is willing to bend or understand? Debating is nothing more than a fancy word for arguing with facts. Rarely does it ever end with either side saying, "Ya know, you're right" or "Oh, I never saw it that way."

Not saying that should be the end result of all debates, but when completely opposite sides butt heads, it's almost never civil or contained. But like I said, I don't care how it ends or if we're the most civil people. I have no interest in arguing with other people over something like this.

the point if debating is not meant to bend each other, its to understand each other's viewpoints. to see the world through each others eyes, be a stranger in a strange land...then maybe we can understand each other, and in thus understand ourselves.
to make each other more knowledgeable...increase our critically thinking which can improve our grades...

"it's almost never civil or contained. "
ill follow your rules

And as I said, it rarely ends with someone saying, "Oh, I never saw it that way."
People can be reformed and deterred of their so called instincts. I'll let it be as simple as that. honestly, it would be exhausting to go over all the reasons. There's the whole Newark, NJ thing and the psychology of criminals, blah blah blah. Can't care to go into detail honestly, too much to do.

They're obviously just envious of the kid's academic achievements.

I feel sorry for the one beaten up. He could've had a bright future ahead of him.

Lol, I like how you said OBVIOUSLY like it's so clear that was the reason. If that's really your reason, that's actually kind of lame. You're one of those types I was speaking of in my previous posts. The one that hears it's an honor student and though that had nothing to do with the reason why he was beaten, feel sorry for him even more just because he got high grades.

Such a shame when people feed into the media's tactics.
