Well me personally I really only get into the old-school disney!

I grew up with Disney, then learned of its anti-Semitic image. I don't watch Disney productions anymore.

Here's the deal for me. Classic disney is awesome, some of my favored childhood memories involve aladin and the others. Modern disney is not the same. I will admit to having watched a few episodes of say hannah montana when I was a bit younger. What about watching a teenage whore tramp about in revealing clothing for half an hour pretending she has talent wouldn't appeal to a seventeen year old male. If you ask me if I thought it was disturbing that my little sister watched the show religiously, then my answer would be that it is the fabric from which nightmares are woven. And that's what everyone old enough to see what it is is thinking. "Dear God what is this new generation watching?". The other ones, like that's so raven and wizards of waverly place just seem like horrible entertainment, though I don't particularly care if someone else enjoys it. In fact I enjoy the some zack and cody from time to time and I freaking love fineus and ferb (not sure if disney did that or not but it's on the disney channel). Basically the disney celebrities are what fills anyone over 15 with a horrible dread of what the future holds when this batch of kids gets their time to shine. Then again, can't say I'm doing too much with my time in the spotlight, so it is admittedly probably an over reaction, but come on man, she's my sister. If she spent all day drooling over sean connery I'm sure I'd grow to hate him as much as I hate the jonas brothers. It's just the natural flowing of events and I'm sure every batch of kids has some equivalent fad they gather around that the adults hate. Pretty sure mine was pokemon. They all meet with some hate from the people within their own age group too simply because by not partaking that makes them outsiders and so they have to create their own clicque bound together by nothing but hatred of the popular item. Don't think hate can bind you're wrong, more people have united under hate than ever under love, powerful stuff right there. I've made friends just out of our mutual malevolence towards environmentalists. By the way I love connery, glad I didn't have to give that up lol.

To me Disney is a bit like 4Kids. They've modified and kiddified a bunch of old stories (in Sleeping Beauty the original version the Prince raped the princess and she had two kids while she was sleeping... creepy I know, Pocahontus was pretty much a false version of how settlers came to the US and the Pocahontus not going with the guy), and are pretty much responsible for the modern versions of advertising and market their products to children (which to me is so wrong, kids don't have the ability to figure out this stuff).
And lets face it, the Disney company has done so much for reinforcing negative sterotypes for how women should act and what they should be like (the girl living with an abusive Beast guy, and others making it seem like the only important thing for women is to find a good guy and get married).
And destroying the music industry.
And Walt Disney was a mysognistic anti-Semite racist.

I used to luv watching walt disney e.g Peter Pan, Winne the Poo and still think its all super cute, but in MY opinion
the classic disney and Hannah Montana and other ppl hanging on tv isn't really the same..4 some reason it seems quite cheesy too
the way the exagerate stuff..but if ppl like it then i won't be against them, as ppl like wat they like!

Whoa, is that thing about Sleeping Beauty & Pocahontus true? I WANT LINKS PLZ! XD

I've seen a bunch of these "subliminal message" things in classic Disney cartoons but I've never really thought too much about how it enforces negative stereotypes...I've never actually noticed it (I'm kinda slow, huh?)

But have you also noticed how in Mulan, at the beginning she's learning to be a geisha or something like that? I'm sure geishas were Japanese, not Chinese! O.O

And I'm pretty sure I've read a version of The Little Mermaid where Ariel actually dies at the end...I'm not exactly sure though...this was when I was little...

Although I loved animated Disney films when I was little, I must admit that's it's pretty fun to watch them again when you're older to find all the rascism/sterotypes/sexism/double meanings XD

Oh, and does anyone think Pocahontus is pretty racist? Cuz they're always like, "SAVAGES!" and when the white guy (don't remember his name) was showing Pocahontus gold she's all like, "Oh, you mean this?" and shows him corn...or something like that :s

Oh yeah...and Toy Story's pretty fucked up, too! There's that one kid who likes blowing up toys and stuff and it always makes me think: WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH HIS PARENTS? LIKE, THEY SERIOUSLY AREN'T NOTICING THIS?! CALL CHILD SERVICES!!! D:

Now, as far as the Disney Channel, it's kinda gay, yeah. But some of it's alright...I like Hannah Montana, even though it's so cheesy but it makes me laugh! I just think 11 year olds go around saying, Joe Jonas is sooo hawt!!!!!!!1 give Disney a bad name, and that's why people hate it so much. There are actually a few intelligent people who watch Disney Channel.

lol. Well, according to the Basile version of the story (which is the original, it was later sanitized and adapted by Perrault) the prince raped her, here's a link to the story:
http://uncoy.com/2006/05/sleeping_beauty_1.html
I don't have any other links for Pocahontas other then the wikipedia article (but they draw on a lot of sources) but basically there's this big conflict and she ends up marrying John Rolfe and having his child, but along the way she had been captured by the English and apparently there's rumours that she was raped by John Smith (which honestly wouldn't be that surprising, it was a common occurance by the English when they first came to North America when they captured prisoners).
And about Pocahontas being racist... well that's the way the settlers treated the Indians, but of course it eventually got worse.

Well first of all I don't hate Disney itself, but I find the Disney channel and all of the shows/stars it produces atrocious =( I can't stand their programming because I find it childish and just kind of lame. None of the actors can really act well, and none of the singers can really sing, and yet they become huge stars destined to ruin cheesy American re makes of classic anime (Zac Efron <_<).

But all of that is just my personal opinion. I have nothing wrong with other people liking it and I don't like ppl who bash others based on their personal tastes. And yeah joe jonas is hawt =p~ or nick or one of them.
