Imagine there is no language, no words. Nothing. No form of communication, nothing has a name. Now imagine your apart of this existence. You see a rock...What do you think? Remember you have no words to describe it, no language. So what would our thoughts be? Would we just see a picture of the object? Would your mind assign some kind of sound to the object?

My brain hurts...

well people have to communicate somehow. if not with language, people did with drawings or hand gestures like sign language [unless that's not allowed either with what you're talking about].

if people never found a way to communicate with each other, i think humans would be extinct by now.

Nice, I was wondering though what would your thoughts be like when you saw something and had no words to attach to it.

yeah pretty mind-boggling it'll be if no one figured a way to speak to each other.

"If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?"

What you just described is the base of postmodernism and deconstructionism. Both philosophies consider that there is no such thing as a universal standard of human nature, that human nature is just a byproduct of cultural and social influences that govern human behaviors. In other words there's no such thing as original thoughts and feelings, nor even creative thinking. When idealism was simply entering our minds via literature.

And by now I hope you've seen just how foolish those thinking were, in a sense that by invoking literature in order to give structure and bring forth their idealism. Both postmodernists and deconstructionists just unintentionally proven their thinking to be original and creative. However not very good ones at that.

Body language is a form of communication. So if you're truly eliminating all forms of communication then it should be excluded as well, since you could mimic your thoughts with bodily motions.

I want to say that language is an inevitable byproduct of thought, but I get the feeling that it's possible for language to exist independently of thought, since many animals have some form of communication, but for most of them it is simply instinctive and they only use it as a reflex to certain scenarios (a cub calling for it's mom when she's not around).

I don't think thoughts can exist without some medium to comprehend them with, and the only medium that I know of that is capable of manifesting thought is language.

Right. We would be completely antisocial but still have ways to live, though very difficult.

This is quite a challenge to get my mind around, yet one strange word came to mind & reminded me of something I think I'm gonna revisit

If there was no communication at all between living things, then those living things will eventually die. Reproduction would not take place if there was no interaction.

There should be some ways of communicating, if there aren't any most likely one will be made. I guess if I see a rock I wouldn't have any expression or reaction to it.

I'm not sure, but I think the Tutsi tribe ties knots to communicate in some form. I imagine we'd do something like that.

Then people would fuck with each others more often. Ahhh...sex paradise COME TO ME!

We'd die out, simple as that. We, as social mammals who have evolved in a way that requires communication, will not survive without any form of communication. It's to do with the placement of our eyes, and how we evolved this for better depth perception, but because we cant always see what's behind us we have to work as a team for various things. According to a documentary I saw.

as for what I'd see, I'd just a see the image. It'd be like just seeing the world as it is, without thinking anything more of anything - everything is through logic, and routine like a lot of smaller animals surely think/see the world. We'd have smaller brains for certain
