I suppose that the enthusiasm on this site for asian music does have to do with it being an asian media site, but I find the question interesting because I don't think I've ever really viewed my musical preference in terms of language or culture. When it comes to what I prefer I often focus on genres, and time periods. Probably too much.
I can understand if someone did prefer a certain the current trends of a country's popculture/music scene to their own for a time, since most countries' entertainment industries tend to over produce whatever is the current mainstream hot thing is. Too much of a good thing done poorly always gets old, and then sometimes it wasn't ever good to begin with, and you have to just ride out the current trends. Well, I think I'm probably going off topic. Anyway, I like music from various countries, decades, and genres.

I don't think it's better or any less.

I love Asian music, Korean pop and Japanese rock.. Those are the only genres of Asian music I listen to.

I do like the occassional Lady Gaga and other stuff that they have out here in Europe and USA.

lol, Current pop music around the world is basically identical. Aside from the language spoken... any biases one way or another are simply cultural preferences to whichever region you identify with.

I Like Asian Music cause it's different...Like they have different Genres
sometimes they have lyrics makes me wanna smack the song writter and sometimes they have lyrics that makes me go 'Aww"
or "So Sweet" and stuff...unlike American music make me go "Over Rated!" except David Archuleta (maybe like his 'Crush" or "A Little Too Not Over You" songs)

I prefer Asian (or more like, Japanese) boybands because the guys are hot. I don't like Western guys, ew.
Also, I like J-pop because it's much more cheerful than European pop. I'm not that into dance-music etc, so yeah ♪

I don't prefer it entirely, but I enjoy it more because it's different: the music, the songs, the artists.

Well it depends on what you listen too. Once you take music theory and open your ears a little wider, music is transcribed into many things such as whether you love hearing a voice of a human being or loving the complexity of the instrumentals or even both. You can't really say whether Asian music is better than American music because they each have unique traits that makes them different than each other. I'm Asian, music major, and a musician so I have to be broad with the materials I listen too. Not to label myself, but I'm a rocker at heart and knows not everyone listens to rock because I mostly see posts about pop which usually is about the looks in my opinion. Remember you should enjoy music for the music, not for the fashion! With a little research you'll eventually find great music of different cultures. By stating you prefer Asian music to anything else means that you're blocking the possibilities to enjoy a mass variety of music that is out there in the world. There are different kinds of scales, modes, arpeggios, instruments, and a ton of things that would take forever to list out there! Music is so great that you shouldn't be narrow minded about it. Thanks for taking time for reading me nonsense... bloop :3

So, do you prefer Asian music over other music? Why? I kind of got the impression that good music was good music, no matter where it came from, but I guess not, because apparently American music "sucks". :/

Not gonna bash anyone on this, just share your opinions~

ahaha your posting this question on a website that is all about asian things? Obviously the majority of users on here are going to prefer asian music...

Asian Music....

Prefer Japanese...

They have varieties style of song...
Thier main point isn't "Sex, Partying, Drugs...and sh*t"...
Sure some Japanese artists have sung of "Sex", I am not saying all
Japanese singers are clean but...aside from that they have "Love, Friendship, Youth...ect".
There's more to love..not just "sex" Korean & Japanese Pop can prove that!

American imusic is so over rated now...what happen to people like Michael Jackson...the girl who sung Titanic
and the guy who sung for Casablanca
