Let me start this off before continuing with the topic this isn't a Christian attack thread or a comparison on which religion is right. Please take that elsewhere this is a simple question for Christians.

Okay so I observe how America is and almost in all fast food restaurants or breakfast items the meat is always pork with little choice of different meats. Now me being a muslim I wanted to find out why muslims cant eat pork as well as the dangers of eating pork.

For the muslims according to Rashid Shamsi of the The Muslim World League Journal he states:

Food and drink have direct effect on our health. That is why Islam has prescribed regulations about our food and drink. It lays great emphasis on our physical as well as moral health, because both of these are equally important for a healthy society. The abstention from eating pork is one of the steps taken by Islam to practice hygiene and to attain purity of soul.

The prohibition of eating pork in Islam is relevant in this context. There is a saying in English that "a man becomes what he eats." According to physicians and medical experts, pork is a harmful diet. Consumption of swine-flesh creates lowliness in character and destroys moral and spiritual faculties in a man.

You can find the rest here http://islamic-world.net/sister/h1.htm.

Now lets examine why jews cannot consume pork
(btw he is not Rabbi Eric)

According to Rabbi Eric:

The laws of keeping kosher have been a central part of Jewish practice since Biblical times. In the book of Leviticus, God told the Israelites that they may eat any animal that has a cleft hoof and chews the cud: this includes ox, sheep, goats, deer and cows. However, God prohibits Jews from eating pork since it is an animal that has a split hoof but does not chew the cud. As with many of the laws of the Torah, there is no real reason given for why Jews cannot eat pork. The Bible only states that the pig is unclean. Here God tells us what we cannot do, and the reason seems to be: “Because I told you so!” http://theflyfishingrabbi.blogspot.com/2009/05/why-do-jews-not-eat-pork.html

Now lets examine Da Pig

According to much what I have read pigs are scavangers meaning they eat anything. This includes their own bowl movements, dead pigs, any type of dead flesh there is no boundaries when it comes to their diet. Now pigs digestive system is different from us human because we take about 24-72 hours to digest our food http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/digestive-system/AN00896. Pigs on the other take about 4 hours to digest their food so lets think about this for a minute. That means all the toxins and waste they eat gets converted into flesh because their body doesnt take its time to break down their foods like humans. Thats the reason why all pigs are fat and when you consume pigs you consume all those toxins stored into their fat. Also many of you know that it is utterly important to cook your pork all the way as eating raw pork is very dangerous. There is a high chance that you will get Trichina worm which is found highest concentrations of pigs. You can also get tapeworms and the dangerous bacteria living inside them.

Taken from http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/103744/why_you_should_cut_pork_out_of_your.html:
There was an instance in which a farmer ordered the a large quantity of cow liver to feed to his animals. The company providing the liver accidentally sent the farmer the pig liver instead. All the animals that ate the pig liver died quickly and painfully of a colorful variety of things. Some developed cancer within a few days. Some suffered digestive tract disturbances so great that they bled to death.

Now my question for Da Chrstians

Now as I googled this I notice a lot of Christians websites popping up saying Christians are not suppose to consume pork. Lets take some quotes (well from at least what I read) that Christians posed to other Christians.

Leviticus 11:7-8
:
And the pig, though it has a split hoof completely divided, does not chew the cud; it is unclean for you. 8 You must not eat their meat or touch their carcasses; they are unclean for you.

Deuteronomy 14:6-8

14:6 And every beast that parteth the hoof, and cleaveth the cleft into two claws, and cheweth the cud among the beasts, that ye shall eat.
14:7 Nevertheless these ye shall not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that divide the cloven hoof; as the camel, and the hare, and the coney: for they chew the cud, but divide not the hoof; therefore they are unclean unto you. (14:7)
"The hare, and the coney ... chew the cud."
This verse mistakenly says that the hare chews its cud.
What should we eat?

14:8 And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud, it is unclean unto you: ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead carcase.

Isaiah 66:17
Those who consecrate and purify themselves to go into the gardens, following the one in the midst of [a] those who eat the flesh of pigs and rats and other abominable things—they will meet their end together," declares the LORD.

Greg Ciola who is a "Crusador for health" states:
This topic is one that some will disagree with, others may not want to hear, or in some cases with Christians, they will take offense with because they believe Jesus doesn’t care what we eat. I’m not trying to be legalistic when it comes to why we should avoid pork and shellfish. I’m trying to be realistic and share some health insights into why these foods could be dangerous to your health. If you want to live a long, disease-free life while you’re occupying your body, then this issue is one you need to pay close attention to.
You can read the rest here http://www.newswithviews.com/Ciola/greg8.htm

This website list six reasons why christians shouldn't eat pork but one that stuck out to was:
By abstaining from those meats listed as unclean in the Bible, I make a statement about God: I believe God cares about the whole person: spirit, soul and body! http://www.biblestudy.org/basicart/six-reasons-why-i-do-not-eat-pork-or-shrimp.html Now what struck me was that sentence I made in bold was very similar to Islam.

So Christians what do you think as in the quotes I posted and the reality of how filthy the pig is do you think it is okay for you to eat pork even though god forbids it many religions and speaks about it in yours?

“He saw heaven opened and something like a large sheet being let down to earth by its four corners. It contained all kinds of four-footed animals, as well as reptiles of the earth and birds of the air. Then a voice told him, ‘Get up peter, and eat.’ ‘Surely not, Lord!’ Peter replied. “I have never eaten anything impure or unclean.” The voice spoke to him a second time, “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean!” Acts 10:11-15.

Anyway, the rules prohibiting the consummation of pork were not commandments. They were mitzvah. The early Jews were nomadic wanders with no sense of real unity. They were essentially a group of rival tribes that cooperated in a sort of federation but ultimately had separate goals. The mitzvah brought to them by God’s messenger was supposed to be a divinely granted series of laws given to the Jews to provide them with a system with which to govern their nation. The mitzvah are about what works, not what’s necessarily morally correct.

One mitzvah, for example, tells them not to plant two seeds in one whole because then one plant will kill the other and it’s a waste. Another tells them to have sex with their wives and not other men so as to populate the land. And indeed if the Jews had not had a culture of mass reproduction they would’ve been eradicated by one of ever so many genocides against their people for a long time. Pork was forbidden because it carried bacteria and diseases, ext.

Today we're not governing ourselves by the same system, under the code, so the mitzvah do not apply.

Sorry about that, I accidently hit post a bit too early. I went back and edited in some more. Yes, that’s a quote from Acts. Some other books in the bible also tell the same story. There’s also a verse somewhere in there where Paul, I think, says “whatsoever a man calls impure, then for him it is impure.” So, if you believe something is evil and do it anyway, then that’s sinning because you’re choosing to do evil. It also applies to food. It’s only evil if you think it’s evil and do it anyway.

No, the verse is saying that the other verses were right. Pork was unclean. Now, however, it’s been made clean.

By the way, please don’t turn this into a religious war. Islam’s supposed to be a religion of peace, so why are you using religion to create confrontation?

So I guess barbeque ribs are out of the question?
Already I don't like the way this thread is going. From past forums anything that has to deal with religion or it's people will lead to some type of argument. I'll stay around for awhile, just to see what happens, but if I see an argument i"ll just have to lock this thread.

Just seems like another way to target Christians to me.

Nah in no way shape and form am I turning this into any religious war (hence read the first sentence of the topic) I am just curious as I am quoting what I read from other Christians, not people of other faiths stating Christians aren't suppose to consume pork. Those biblical quotes I got from another Christian . Now if this turns into a religious war over pork people are being very sensitive and insecure.

If this leads to a war by all means lock it thats not my intention just a simple question. I am not stating which religion is right or wrong. If enough people gets offended by this thread I apologize and please lock it right away.

You sure, because I’ve seen that exact same argument with those exact same citations trying to slander Christianity and Christians on a Muslim website.

Although, if it is just out of curiosity that’s fine. I do have a question for you though. Muslims believe Jesus Christ never really died on the cross. That he deceived the onlookers by letting somebody else who looked like him go instead. What do Muslims think about his character based on this?

Well, maybe you're right. But he's asking Christians a question about Christianity. It seems appropriate for me to ask Muslims a question about Islam in a thread making an inter-faith inquiry. I don’t know how long we can discuss the pork thing. But, you’re the moderator…

Doesn't that mean that any sin can be considered good if you don't consider it to be evil, and that Christians can dictate their own morality?

Thats a different topic would you like the source where I got that from. It was from a Christian who asked other Christians and posted those quotes. I am not answering that question you posed to me because it is changing the topic. Like I said all I did was repost a question another christian asked to a group of christians on yahoo I am trying hard to find it now so I can post it. I am not saying you cant and saying this is the reason why you cant. I just want someone to educate me thats all. The difference with this thread and others is people tell you what you cant do and stick by it no matter how you refute it. Like I said I just wan to be educated as this question popped up when researching pork and many Christians making a lot of articles about how they are not suppose to eat it.

What I want to see if any Christian agrees to this if so why?
