I don't think so... I would be a full time gamer if anime/manga didn't exist.

I think that I'm rehashing what a lot of other people have said, but here goes. Disney is good, for what it's worth, and the kid in me still likes some Disney movies. It is also true that anime had its roots in styles originated (or at least popularized) by Disney artists--for the most obvious example, compare Mickey Mouse's large eyes to those of most anime characters. Japanese manga and anime have, though, gone in their own direction. And unlike American animation, which tends to target a younger audience almost exclusively (or, in the case of more adult- or late teen-oriented shows like Family Guy, is mostly limited to comedy/satire), Japanese anime and manga aren't so limited; they have a wide range of topics, from simple to complex and from child-targeted to adult-targeted, and there really is "something for everyone." There are likely some historical and cultural reasons for animation to become so much more diverse in Japan than it is in the States, but part of it, too, may just be to more intense competition, as someone in an earlier post pointed out.

So, to answer the question...without anime, I'd probably be watching more live action dramas of some sort or other (or reading more books) instead of watching more Disney. Disney has some value, but I've grown far beyond watching it intensively / exclusively.

i don't think i would. i only prefer retro to 90's disney. but for new disney, i only like Wall-E and Up. the rest of new disney i don't like it, which was one of the reasons why i stopped watching disney. =(

Not always so...

Back on topic, if anime/manga never existed I'd probably be addicted to that ^ LOL I'm already addicted to Disney movies in the first place...so anime/manga not existing wouldn't affect that.

Yes it is. For the most part, US animation is for kids.

PS... "for the most part" doesn't mean, "every single".
