What does age have to do with anime? It's not like its a genre..it's just a type of media..and like all media (tv, movies, plays, books, comics) there are different genres and types that are going to appeal to different age groups.

And I still see nothing wrong with someone older liking a show geared at a younger audience. I'm 23 and I still enjoy Fairly Oddparents immensely. I still enjoy reading teenage and young adult novels. So I'm fairly positive that when I'm old in my rocker surrounded by 13 cats I'm going to be watching the 2,000 episode of Detective Conan while waiting for Nakamura-sensei to complete the Skip Beat series...hopefully before I'm dead.

Edit: And how many kids/teenagers do you know that actually write mangas, animate cartoons, produce, direct, and do voice acting for? I think for all the work older people put into it they can enjoy whatever they want...for kids or not.

I love seeing all these people state that it's weird if people that age do such.

Yet I bet those very same people are probably the quickest to whine about how bored they are when they visit THEIR grandparents.

Quoted for TRUTH!!!

You know it makes me laugh at all the people who claim it's weird when older people watches anime. I bet when you go to cons, you see a lot of older people there don't you? How come you aren't so brave to tell them this in their face?

Just because you are much older doesn't mean you can't do certain things that are fun. People who think otherwise are too insecure about themselves.

Wait until you are a whole lot older than you are and are still watching anime.

Like most others I think age doesnt make a difference either. Older people might be stereotyped as weird but from my experiences nyone who watches anime is dubbed as weird. If people dont grow out of it then no more power to them! They were able to stick with it and it also says that creators were able to keep all ages of people into their animation!!!! A4L!!!

Honestly its very uncommon in the previous generations. A lot has changed but our gen. is very likely to still watch anime till at least our 30s. A lot has evolved since our grandparents were kids. Most american grandparents probably wouldnt even know anime exsisted unless you guys mentioned/told them about it. I cant really say for other countries, although im pretty confident its the same everywhere except mabey japan.

You only think it's weird because you choose not to understand the reasons why older people enjoy it (still). This is racist to the old people.

What the hell is wrong with people. It's like old people are a different species or something. If I was an old person, I'd be seriously offended and depressed that 'young people' are trying to rule what I do and enjoy. Goodness.

Next you're going to say that old people can't go out on dates, or enjoy a video game. It's like hitting a certain age automatically exempts you from this, that, and the other thing. I'm sure if you hit that age (whatever it may be), you wouldn't like people telling you what's "acceptable" for your age, no?

People spend so much time mulling over what everyone else is doing, and not enough on themselves. The world would be so much better if people kept to their own business and accepted others for their harmless, if not different, ways.

Zooks! Old people watching anime...been some great reads re posts. No worries on age here. Do what you enjoy (as long as it's not suppressing someone else's freedoms). Now, old people collecting anime figurines!!!! I shudder to think of those consequences....LOL.

Someone took a great shot of an 86 year male removing packaging material from a large busted figurine on www.myfigurinecollection.net. The anecdotal commentary next to the snap as well as his facial expression is priceless.

The other great plus about age is enough water has gone over your lifespan dam little things don't bug you as in years past. From what I've seen so far this 64 yr old likes the storyline of Mysterious Girlfriend X and is really curious which figurine company will attempt to sell Urabi and what her pose will be.
