Did you see pedobear?

But seriously, there is nothing wrong with older people watching anime. Most of the anime that I watch is for adult audiences anyway, so I don't feel there is the problem. (and I do get along with people my own age, and people in their early 20s) You all will be my age someday, will you still be watching anime? As long as they keep on making good series, I will keep on watching them.

lol. I don't know pedobear but he's the coolest pedophile / bear I've seen.

I don't find anything really wrong. I know plenty of adults, even up to their 60s watching Anime. Especially in Japan since it's a culturally common there. I guess it just seems a bit odd because it's a rare thing in the States still. And it's only recent generations of young adults that have experienced games, internet, animations, etc. So, I'm expecting each generation of older viewers to increase every year. Very rare to find people older than 40 or 50, however, since they haven't grown up on it since it hadn't really been noticed outside Asia.
You're still not too old where you can get by. Maybe it is just me *no idea* but I just find it a little eye-catching when I see someone 50ish with someone as young as 18 at her college club meeting. I guess it depends on the situation and how one would behave. I guess I found one conservative side of me. lol. If I found out my father watched Anime, I'd probably make him stop.

Pedobear is just an internet joke..lol

Well, if a 50 year old can get a 18 year old, well, good for him...lol. Anime just started hitting North America when I was young (around 8) I stopped watching while in my teens and early 20s, but just a few years ago I started watching again. The stories that anime series tell are just as good as any show on television (well honestly, way better, when I find a series I like, I never turn the damn thing on).

As to people being together, in any situation if they care about one another, or are good friends, I have no problem with it, in the case of a 50 year old with a 18 year old girl, I would more then likely give a second glance, but then say you lucky bugger... You are as young as you feel (and I will likely still act like I am in my early 20s till I hit 40....*shiver*)

I feel the general defination of an adult is changing - many of people my age grew up playing console games - and they still do. So nothing wrong with watching anime.

I don't see how age should have anything to do with what you watch when it comes to this question.

I know an old couple that watch Tom & Jerry

I don't think there's anything wrong with any age group watching a certain show. Although, an adult watching Blue's Clues every morning by himself might give me goosebumps and/or a laugh. <-- technically there is nothing wrong here as well since it's all up to the tastes of the individual.
If older people in Japan didn't enjoy and make anime, the quality would be far lower than what it is now. But, I think most people would find strange or atypical to find an older person watching certain animes.

I'm taking this stance also because practically everyone in the forums seem think that it's great. I'm definitely not saying it's wrong or weird. (although I'm being respectfully honest by saying that I can't help but judge at times.) But I'm taking the less popular route since these forums are biased. Everyone in CR either likes anime or asian dramas/film. If you ask random people on the street, you'd get different responses on these types of questions. You can't get a reliable response by just asking anime watchers a question like this.

One of Japan's Prime Ministerial candidates last time was a rabid fan of anime and manga. Don't remember his name, can anybody enlighten me on this?

I stopped watching anime around 18-19ish but started watching it again about a year ago. I've ran into a few people in their 30s-mid 40s who do watch anime (generally male but a few women) but they don't watch it as often. It'll take them a month to watch a full series, doing only a few eps a week.

Both my parents are in their 50s and my dad on occasion will borrow a set (generally a dubbed one) if he thinks it looks interesting. It can take him a long time to actually finish it but he'll end up watching the whole thing. My mom likes some of the shorter 30m-2 hour OVA/Movies but highly doubt she'd ever be able to watch an actual series.

Haven't met anyone 60+ that watches anime, tho I'm not to sure if I'd actually want to. I mean if they treat it as a hobby where they watch on occasion then I could see watching anime as long as you live. But if their that age and diehards/fanatics then thats kind of sad...

Guess it would come down to whether or not they were they "kids at heart" type or just plain "childish" type.
