unless we start comparing other things the murder/crime rate. America has 12 times more smaller crime.. And 45 times more murder per 10,000 people.

Japanese health compared to Americans people living in Japan on average live 10 to 15 years longer than Americans.

Education... There GPA a lot higher than the Americans as well.

spending trillions on military America does, Japan does not.
underage pregnancy Hold it America even wen its a mostly christian nation has more teen and underage pregnancy than the largely atheist, and pagan Japan. Gasp....

'I do not think America and Japan are very comparable at all.'

Does it matter how they each failed, when they are both failures in their own respective rights as developed nations?

Japan has less organized crime being reported as well as their legislation downplay on rape, while their suicide rate is among the highest in developed nations.

Japanese health is declining, when their working class are developing poorer lifestyle habits.

Japanese students are only book-smart, when they lack the will to learn and being creative.

Japanese bureaucrats overspend on civil works due to corruptions.

Over 70% of Japanese men(over 60% for women) in their 20's and 30's don't have a romantic relationship.

Little trouble with your thinking first You can not not report murder! and yet America has 45 times more murders.. Maby not report the lesser crimes. But I am willing to bet there lesser crimes are still less than ares if they did report every last one of them. Right now we have 12 times what they do per 10,000 people.

Yes yes.. 70% of men and 60% of men do not have romantic relationships... LOL... What do you consider Romantic relationship.. Because I can well on hand say 90% of Americans do not have romantic relationships because they do not really do things together all the time.

O Japan is less creative than who??? Americans??? So street smarts, knowing how to con someone is creativity?

'Last time I checked America had to get 80% of the doctors and Scientist from other countries. Because there own people lack the skills needed to become doctors or scientist. Did you not find it odd that your doctor was Indian, or German. '

'But I do not blame Americans... I blame the education system.'
Maby America should start looking into how other countries do it.

At least I present those issues better than you did. When I left rooms for improvement, while you OTOH just whine and complain.

And at least people with talents and skills are being paid for their worth in the US, not Japan. Where Japanese technicians are being treated only as "better than robots".

C'mon, all countries have their flaws, just few are worse than the others. And US is overrated for being the 'most powerful country in the world' Though I think it's true that the whole world is watching the next move of US, and it's not going too well. Hopefully they will do something about it before everyone loses hope

International political organisations count about 193 countries. Which ones set the best examples to the rest of the world? Which ones would we do best to copy, to emulate and to admire for their foresight, hard work and long-term conscience? Which countries would have humanity survive gleaming into a clean, happy, bright future? Who are tardy on humanitarian issues, science or development? Compiling relevant statistics on a wide range of issues, and constructing rankings, I've arrived at a shortlist of countries that beat all the others. Be the best!

Japanese society is unsafe even with their gun control, just like the US. When "Japan has less organized crime being reported as well as their legislation downplay on rape, while their suicide rate is among the highest in developed nations."

Japanese health are declining despise their longer life expectancy, just like the US. When "their working class are developing poorer lifestyle habits."

Japanese students are only book-smart but uncreative, just like the US students being uncreative.

"Japanese bureaucrats overspend on civil works due to corruptions", just like the US bureaucrats overspend on war efforts due to wartime profits.

"Over 70% of Japanese men(over 60% for women) in their 20's and 30's don't have a romantic relationship", just like the US society lack family values with their teen and underage pregnancy.

I failed at being creative? No, I think you failed at understanding what the topic is about. Do you know what a failed state is? And you even failed at being anti-Japanese by just naming random general issues that are common in countries all over the world. And I love these attempts at connecting the random ideas with the topic:

Japanese health are declining despise their longer life expectancy, just like the US. When "their working class are developing poorer lifestyle habits."

Japanese students are only book-smart but uncreative, just like the US students being uncreative.

Yeah, Japanese students are only book smart and uncreative just like the US students being uncreative, nice general connection. Are you actually serious? You're really a sociologist and you make meaningless and random generalizations like this?

And the women not having a romantic relationships is like US teen pregnancy, so the connection is a lack of family values in both countries. XD are you serious? And that's how we know if a nation is a failed state? All this has nothing to do with the topic. It's pretty obvious you just quickly came up with these ideas when you didn't even understand what the topic was about, social issues are almost irrelevant to whether a country is a failed state.

Save the irrational, random, nonsense anti-Japanese attacks for topics where they are more relevant.

I think what difference of Japan and US is because of their culture, not weapon bans. Also, of course US diplomacy which are totally absurd as weapon-01 stated above, especially in war. Causing their soldiers and huge amount of money lost which is bring deficit to its country budget and it's one of many reasons the economic downturn happened in 2008. They are responsible for that in this case.

If that your definition of failed states, then all states around the world are failure. Although, I agree that no country is perfect on this world, that's why assistance between countries are the most important in foreign affair that needs to be emphasized. Like the security defense in Japan is being trusted by US military in Okinawa.

Sadly, those assistance is really contrary to current world's situation where there is no trust between them.

And to topic, it might also being influenced by its people attitude, while we know some Japanese are really hopeless, like Otaku, Hikikomori, lolicon ... etc. But that kind of people are not only in Japan, it applies to all country to be specific. While, we know many Japanese people are beyond kindness, lol. You should visit Japan someday and interact with its people.

Well that's just it, while we all know that there are dark side within the society of every nation. Japan especially is a developed nation with their society's dark side being treated differently than most other developed nations like the US. Even unwanted pets in Japan are being treated differently, when there are as many as 310,000 cats and dogs being killed each year in Japan by animal shelters via carbon monoxide gas chamber. While in 2007, as many as 9,512 dogs and 23,265 cats were killed in Utah.

Human population comparison:
Japan = 127,288,416 (July 2008 est.)
Utah = 2,736,424, 2008 estimate

People need to stop thinking that America is all fine and dandy, just because we have had propaganda, both in neglect to print and outright skewed reports, shoved down our throats for the past couple of decades.

Most Americans can't even give an accurate report as to the standings of America in regards to other nations. By this I mean the per capita's, life expectancy, infant mortalities, or even things as simple as, Does state run health care work? Generally yes, but there are some exceptions.

Another example is that the average american supports Israel, and completely ignores the fact that countless Palestinians were stripped of their nation, get butchered day in and day out, and what do they get in terms of coverage. "Today a Palestinian bomb went off, killing three civilians. The Israeli government retaliated by launching a rocket strike on a suspected (key word there) Insurgent hide out" and what they failed to mention was that this 'hideout' was in the middle of a neighbor hood, and that 80 some Palestinians were killed and about a hundred or so maimed. But God forbid that the Israelis look like the bad guys!

And people wonder why America is a failing nation. ITS BECAUSE WE SKEW EVERYTHING TO OUR ADVANTAGE, EVEN WHEN EVERYONE ELSE KNOWS ITS A LIE!! THIS THEN CAUSES NO ONE TO LIKE US, BECAUSE WE LIE ABOUT WHAT OUR ALLIES DO ALL THE TIME.

unless we start comparing other things the murder/crime rate.

I find it funny you have to always attack Japan in everything...
Its like a Jew still angry at Germany for what the Nazi's did.
Your a Chines kid angry at Japan for something that happen in the past before your time.
An so you attack them with anything and everything you can find no matter how half ass it might be.
'I think your just angry at Japan for its past.... with China. '

I think I am right!!!! About this one..! So am I close?

I'm a Canadian who believes in individualism, wellness lifestyle, and positive psychology. Three things that did not have their roots in China nor Japan due to their societies were all based on collectivism cultural influence, profit-driven competitive lifestyle, and elitist mentality.

Therefore no, you're dead wrong when you're still trapped by your own stereotype; a hater.

Nope just Ruffling feathers... But you sure do act like a Chines person all angst against Japan over all other nations!

I gave critics where it's due, which is unlike yourself. Who's only looking for fights with your unintelligent statistics.

So the International political organizations do not give intelligent statistics? Last time I looked they do a very good job getting the facts using 193 countries in there charts.

well, actually, America did take over japan after WW2. And we did implement thier constitution. And they have taken over some of our habits, such as fast unhealthy food. Did u know it was, or still is against the law to be fat in japan? It was te USA that brought that problem to thier door step. So they can be comparable, but yea, culture is vastly different in some aspects. peace over war
