A Paris court convicted the Church of Scientology of fraud and fined it more than $900,000 (U.S.) on Tuesday but stopped short of banning the group as prosecutors had demanded.

Yay for France. Scientology seems just like one big hoax to me.

Speaking of stepping it up, Scientology is illegal as an immoral cult in Ireland.

Scientology is also illegal in Germany as they view it as a cult.
Good for France. You can't hide behind 'religion' when you steal money.

Too lazy to read the whole thing. So they banned it there?

When I've read a quote by their founder where he told his friend "Creating a new religion is the best way to get lots of money" I was fucking stunned. Long death to Hobbart and Jumpin' Tom Cruise. Even Madonna's Kabbala seems nice after this.

no offence, but personally I think France had no right to do that- religion is a personal choice right?
that's like banning Christianity or something just cause no one has actually facts that anything in a religion is true,
that's why it's called "FAITH"

no I am not a scientologist (i think they are a little loopty, if ya know what i mean)xD
but i do like to defend people- especially if I think they are being treated unfair

It's not like banning Christianity, because they didn't ban Scientology. Thy banned the Church of Scientology, the actual organization. People can still practice whatever faith they want on their own. I think the idea of people following a religious organization is ridiculous, religion should be a personal thing without anyone else telling you what to do or think.

They should ban the Catholic Church while they're at it too.
