The 700 Club is a "Christian" show shown on Fox, and it disgusts me why this show even exists.

Now, I used to be one of those people that went "ZOMG Christians lololololo ur all retarded mother fuckers, you can't even put up a good argument", and I was a bit of an angry Atheist. I've eventually learned that arguing and mocking Christians was useless and I should respect people that choose to have a religion, I'm fine with Christianity in itself and I don't hate people just because they believe in God.

I just don't agree with a show on TV that is all about Christianity and how "amazing and life changing" it is. I was sort of okay with it because it was on at times that really didn't matter, but suddenly commercials have come on and just about every single damn one of them is "See how Christianity and faith changed her life for the better" and "God is so good! Blah blah blah". I mean, what the fuck? If I had children, I'd be 100x more furious than I am now. Leave my fucking television alone, I don't want you to go on my television and broadcast how great Christianity. I don't want my kids being taught to blindly love Christianity because of a show that puts every bit of Christianity in a good light. No, get your God off my TV, and away from my children.

Oh, did I mention to you a few things about the retards on this show? What!? Retards, that's mean! I shouldn't be saying that, but wait, I should! The guy is a legitimate retard and Psychologists just haven't came up with a learning disability for him yet.

In this little article about ONE EPISODE in the 700 Club, the piece of shit managed to talk about how bad plastic surgery is... by mocking Asians and our "Oriental" eyes. Fuck that shit. Then here comes...

As Media Matters for America noted, Robertson has called Islam a "Christian heresy" and said that "Jewish people" are "very thrifty" and "extraordinarily good business people." Media Matters also noted that after officials in Orlando, Florida, voted in 1998 to fly rainbow flags from city lampposts during the annual Gay Days event at Disney World, Robertson issued the city a warning: "I don't think I'd be waving those flags in God's face if I were you. ... [A] condition like this will bring about the destruction of your nation. It'll bring about terrorist bombs, it'll bring earthquakes, tornadoes and possibly a meteor."

What!? What!? The Jew comments, the Islam comments, and then Terrorist bombs, Earthquakes, Tornadoes, and POSSIBLY a meteor because Disney is supporting gay people? Honestly, what the fuck?

He has described feminism as a "socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians.

Hey ladies, I heard you might like this one.

In 1999 Robertson said Scotland was "a dark land" overrun by homosexuals. This caused the Bank of Scotland to drop plans for a business operation with him. Many Scottish customers were unhappy that their bank should do business with him

... /facepalm

Anyways, after I've given you a taste of how horrible this show is, I'm going to clear things up again. I don't hate Christians. I don't like Christian extremists that love to shove God down anything they can get their hands on, and then disrespecting every other religion in the process and make the world dumber and less tolerant than it already is. I don't want people preaching about how God hates homosexuals on TV children can easily access, I don't want religion being pushed down throats of people on TV children can easily access.

I don't want my child being taught about Christianity through beautifully crafted lens that makes everything about Christianity seem better than it already is. I want my child to be taught about Christianity through normal eyes, knowing the truth about the religion, and if my child wishes to convert to Christianity, he may do it. I just don't want him thinking "Oh, Angie Wilmington on the 700 Club lost 100 pounds all due to having faith in God and God made her lose the weight".

Really, stop preaching hateful things down Christian's throats and making them feel they need to hate because God wants them to. You're preaching to an audience of people that should have strong moral values (keyword: SHOULD), and you're calling Scot a place of homosexuals because your business operation went bad. All these controversies the show has created, all the hate this show has preached, and it's still on TV... Why?

This whole "personal thread" bull shit is stupid.

My personal opinion is in it, but am I asking about how pretty my dress is? Am I asking about how to download a video? I don't think so.

The discussion meant for this thread is why a show like The 700 Club is even allowed on TV. Not about MY opinions of it, although the first post was of my opinions. If I don't like it turn it off? If people were all simple minded as you, I'd have made my plans to kill everyone in the world, and then myself because the level of stupidity would be so overwhelming to the point where I honestly have no choice in myself anymore but to go about killing everybody and myself afterwards.

This is the Extended Discussion board pal, it's not the "post simple minded post and not even use your brain" section. Pretty damn sure this section was built on debating and posting well thought out posts. Guess you broke a rule too bud.

Your opinion was "Sometimes I like the 700 club". Actually, that wasn't a proper response to my post at all.

This wasn't a "Do you like the 700 club?" poll, this was a thread discussing the show and why it even exists. I like it is stating that you like the show, but it doesn't have anything to do with the reasoning of the show's existence. Did I also mention this section is about making well thought out responses? Yeah, if you think that post was even remotely well thought out, you have major problems.

I'm debating why this show is even on TV because people need to think about these things about some point in their life, why are shows like this existing when it's shoving hate down people's throats? Sometimes people like to think about things outside of what mean things Julie said to Angie, and they sometimes even like to use their brain. Getting people to think deeply about the subject is the whole point of debating on a website.

it's not a bad program i just got a little bored of it sadly cause it's kinda like the news with all that depressing. but it doesn't force hate unto people, it's just clearly showing what's going on in the world. there are other shows who display much worse than what the 700 club is doing. again you don't have to watch it or take up with it. you feel strongly about it, just protest. i already heard a rumor they're trying to ban their show & others like it, (even though it won't work).

It's not a personal thread. He isn't asking for help, though it dose seem like a rant. Eh, since I've already replied I might as well try my best to answer your topic.

Well, due to the First Amendment they have every right to broadcast their show, whether you disagree with it or not.

Secondly, you can’t stop a station from airing a television show if they choose to do so. You could write a complaint, or if you’re that extreme about it protest, but it’s highly unlikely that they’ll read it or care.

Also, a show's continuity is due to their ratings.

So to put it shortly, the more people that watch the show, the longer it will continue to broadcast. Stations air shows that they know will attract viewers, it gives them money. They don't give a crap if you dislike it, what's one person when there's thousands of other people that do?

Don't like it? Than turn the channel, you're one less viewer, buddy. Though you did say that they show commercials, so you can't really avoid it now can you?

The First Amendment has it's limits. You can't go too indepth about sex and porn on TV because it's not appropriate for certain audiences, and you can't show nudity for the same reasons. I think The 700 Club should be taken off the air because it's not appropriate television for younger audiences and it's incredibly offensive to many people. The "Plastic surgery makes you look like an Oriental" thing is extremely offensive to me because I'm asian/oriental. I normally can take Asian jokes, making them myself a lot of the time, but such comments didn't seem like they were "haha jking Asians", I believe the guy legitimately thought poorly of Asians. Shows like The 700 Club spread biased information and hate to the audiences, and it's very damaging to our country to even allow these shows on TV.

There's needs to be limitations on "free speech" especially when such things are incredibly damaging to the minds and opinions of the American people. I don't think I can ever find a justification to allow Fox News, CNN News, or MSNBC to even still broadcast. They're speaking their minds, but they're spreading biased opinions out to the world acting like they're some sort of news or informational program.

I honestly don't care if the stations care of not, I do understand most are happy as long as they get money. America shouldn't be allowing these things on their TV, we're supposed to be an "evolved" country, but we've failed to get rid of biased news programs. I don't know why America is allowing people on TV to make cruel Asian jokes, comparing us to piss poor jobs done by plastic surgery, and spreading that waving Gay flags at Disney will cause tornadoes and "possibly a meteor". If I had my child ever went up to me and told me "Daddy, I learned that Asian eyes look like white people who got plastic surgery", I would go out of my way to find the guy in charge of The 700 Club and brutally torture and murder him. People spreading these things to America deserve very cruel things done to them, and when it gets personal, I'm going to be pretty pissed.

Because people love controversy, and the networks know this. In the end it's all about money, isn't it obvious? They don't care if it's biased, racist, or inhumane. If the ratings rise and the people watch it than this type of bullshit will continue to air. And you’re right, it’s true that the country might have evolved, but its people…eh, kind of slow don't you agree?

What you need to do is to not be influenced by everyone else's ignorance. So far you're doing a great job.

If it's on the air, then it must have an audience, which means the TV station can then sell advertising. So, until it loses that audience, it's not going anywhere.

This is why I am not a big fan of the FCC. Its ok to run shit like this that is racist to the max. against all but the Christians. But anything else that makes Christians look bad, or something else Christians shun such as the human body gasp must stop it!

I think of the FCC as hypocrites. And If there going to force there ideals on people they better give the other religions and lack of religions the same rights!

...are you new to America? because this has been going on since the creation of the TV... All American shows are meant to sway people's minds one way or another. The media is biased and profit motivated. It has its fair share of propaganda, lies, and deciete.

And there's nothing ne one can do about it because of the free press. The best way to avoid shows you believe is influencing your children the wrong way is to turn off the tv.Because even children's cartoons are filled with sex, violence, and drugs.Even the Cookie Monster taught kids bad eating habits.

So no media is safe for children, or even adults for that matter. Very few shows on tv are accurate aside from Dr phil, history channel, Dr Oz, and sometimes animal planet.
Any other show could be considered bad influences for both adults and children.

Did you know Girls Gone Wild commercials appear on Comedy Central? Naked girls jumping around on free cable, sounds nices to a grown man, but a 5 yr old kid may be disturbed watching it.peace over war
