Keith Bardwell is a mound of shit. He is crooked and bigoted slime. I want his fucking testicles on a stick so I can roast them over a fire and feed them to a dog. What an asshole. Fuck!

I honestly think the judge prob thought he did what he thought best. He was wrong but cut him some slack cause I think it was not a racist move.

What do you mean? That being a kid from an interracial relationship could lead to identity issues?

Damn, their kids turn out to be so cute, and pretty though.

A lot people can judge i am interracial and from Louisiana. I know how hard it is to be a interracial child. They don't understand Louisiana is kinda like a country rather then a state. I guess because they don't live there.

He was probably ignorant. Thankfully ignorance may be solved, purposefully being dumb can't because it's a choice. Let's hope he realizes how wrong he was.

I know, I know, this article is older than two weeks, but since I've not seen it anywhere mentioned in these forums, I've come to the conclusion that I'll post it anyway in spite of the fact that it's not the newest News.

And I mean, God, seriously..you'd think that we're in the Twenty-first century America. Okay, it happened in Louisiana..but still..

Here goes the article:

Oct. 15, 2009

HAMMOND, La. - A Louisiana justice of the peace said he refused to issue a marriage license to an interracial couple out of concern for any children the couple might have.

Keith Bardwell, justice of the peace in Tangipahoa Parish, says it is his experience that most interracial marriages do not last long.

Neither Bardwell nor the couple immediately returned phone calls from The Associated Press. But Bardwell told the Daily Star of Hammond that he was not a racist.

"I do ceremonies for black couples right here in my house," Bardwell said. "My main concern is for the children."

‘I feel the children will later suffer’
Bardwell said he has discussed the topic with blacks and whites, along with witnessing some interracial marriages. He came to the conclusion that most of black society does not readily accept offspring of such relationships, and neither does white society, he said.

"I don't do interracial marriages because I don't want to put children in a situation they didn't bring on themselves," Bardwell said. "In my heart, I feel the children will later suffer."

If he does an interracial marriage for one couple, he must do the same for all, he said.

"I try to treat everyone equally," he said.

Thirty-year-old Beth Humphrey and 32-year-old Terence McKay, both of Hammond, say they will consult the U.S. Justice Department about filing a discrimination complaint.

Humphrey told the newspaper she called Bardwell on Oct. 6 to inquire about getting a marriage license signed. She says Bardwell's wife told her that Bardwell will not sign marriage licenses for interracial couples.

"It is really astonishing and disappointing to see this come up in 2009," said American Civil Liberties Union of Louisiana attorney Katie Schwartzman. "The Supreme Court ruled as far back as 1963 that the government cannot tell people who they can and cannot marry."

‘He knew he was breaking the law’
The ACLU was preparing a letter for the Louisiana Supreme Court, which oversees the state justices of the peace, asking them to investigate Bardwell and see if they can remove him from office, Schwartzman said.

"He knew he was breaking the law, but continued to do it," Schwartzman said.
.....

Notice the red part? Yeah, well..try harder, dick.

IF

everything he said was true, then he isnt racists...his heart was in the right place, but his mind wasnt. He had no business "protecting" thier child. He was also stepping out of line and out of his athority. There were other ways he could have achieved the same objective by simply petitioning against racisms in both white and black nieghborhoods.Stopping them from getting marriaged will not stop them from having a child. And 50% or more of all marriages end in divorce, so he obviously didnt have his thinking cap on that day.

He may be an idiot, but if the info here was presented accurate, then he isnt a racist. He wasnt agasint them getting marriaged, just against them having a child that will most likly suffer for it- which is true btw, its no excuse, but it's true- racism does still exists...just i dont think this guy was one of them.peace over war

Lets put it that way, I agree with you. I haven't said that he was being racist, I just asked whether someone would consider his actions as such. To the other, I think it's an unequal treatment, I mean..to deny a couple to get married just because there's a % of a chance that their family life won't last long and their mixed kids might suffer from it is just not okay. Anyhow, I agree with what you said.

I'm not a fan of interracial relationships, but that's just because I think black/black look best together. I also think many black men are better physically because the black guys I've been with have paid more attention to my needs than the others. It's all very superficial for the most part.

I'm sexually attracted to strong, black men. That's just me. Now, I've sort of dated a hispanic guy before (we were never quite sure, but we tended to act like we were dating.) But all the others have been black and I've personally been happier that way. I'm not saying I could never again be with someone of a different race. This is just preference.
