The basic outlineis good, but a more in depth and interesting design (not just physically) would have made him more appealing IMO.

He needs actual development. That, and he needs to be included in arcs that have nothing to do with the Sand. I believe that Kishi just made him with Gaara in mind, meaning that he goes with Gaara, and you rarely see him without Gaara or Temari by his side.

He needs a new outfit. Even Naruto's orange jumpsuit looks better than Kankuro's outfit.
He needs to prove himself to be as amazing as Sasori.
Get rid of the purple streaks.
