Tightening Moderation Across Boards
|
Since the Mods don't seem to like Polls I will repost my opinion in a normal topic.
I believe the Mods are not enforcing or lack enforcement across the boards. The design goal of the forums for CR I believe to be Anime and having random off-topics that are not on an off-topic board just clutters the environment. Tightening the thread creation and a stricter thread topic use policy would be a nice addition while the community is still under development. Thanks, -Romoku |

You are suggesting that moderators enforce the rules even more and that is the point of the thread I am linking to as can be seen in the following quote from the first post in the thread.
"A lot of users are complaining saying we're too mean" .... "While others are saying we're too laid back and we should stop joking around and take our job seriously" ...."I would like to know your opinion on how the mods should be." So please post in the following thread instead unless I have misinterpreted your post. http://www.crunchyroll.com/forumtopic-575106/the-fine-line-between-cr-mods-and-cr-users/ |

I strongly believe in more regulation/rules. Thus more moderation.
Regarding missing/lacking of policy, this is what is currently moderated: ** Spoiler Alert!!! click to hide or show** Read and understand the General Site and Forum Rules before posting on the Forum Flamebaiting and Flaming are disallowed. Don't force the forum rules down someone else's throat. Generally, be respectful in tone: Assume goodwill. Forum standards are rated PG-13. Do not engage in unnatural thread bumping. Post your threads in the appropriate forums. Offer content. Do not post more than 2 pictures in a single Forum post. Type intelligibly. Thou Shalt Accept the Moderators' and Administrators Decisions. Do not advertise your group in the forum. Do not Double-Post Don't ask for licensed Anime. Then it goes on about topic creation rules. The reason why I put this in a spoiler is to compress my post since most I assume should know the guidelines or have general knowledge regarding forum etiquette. I know for a fact I have violated several of those rules in the past and have been warned accordingly and that is an example of where the regulations are effective. Now where the regulations fall short is here: First the repercussions are vaguely stated. If this is a 3 day ban off CR or just the CR forums (i.e. watch videos or not). and account deletion seems too severe and too warranted at the same time. I propose before account deleting is initiated there is a permanent banning off the CR forum in question, then if a user continues to break the rules elsewhere a ban from all forums (forum section AND video associated forums). And if it quite obvious the user is posting just to violate the ToU (terms of use) they have their account permanently deleted. (i.e. taking it to private groups or video comments) Now as a Mod there is no obligation to follow the procedure in any particular flow depending upon severity. Especially when a user links malicious content (on purpose). Now the regulations are very basic (good/well-written) and that is good. So make a cause/effect approach to each independent clause would tell users directly "If you break such-such rules, you will face such-such consequence at minimum.) Instead of keeping the rules on the general forum, move them to http://www.crunchyroll.com/forum and place a link above the General Category and below the CR / Forum. Make in bold "READ THIS BEFORE POSTING". With the guidelines in a place where everyone should see them there will be no problems with those who claim ignorance. Next there are some clauses that may benefit existing CR clauses or may need revision. To name a few: Circumventing a Suspension/Ban, Discussing Disciplinary Actions, Posting Trojan Horses or Malicious Programs, Sexual Preference, Extreme Sexuality/Violence, Account Trading, Racial/Ethnic, Harassing or Defamatory. For the existing rules, it maybe better to bunch them into general categories such as respect, necro-threads, and assuming goodwill be in a super-category of general forum etiquette. I guess my ideas may be a little out there, but I hope it helps. |
