I think, the point is that there should be a different price for every country as there is a different content for every country...
Obviously if you can see only half of the anime, but others can see all of them for the same price... you will feel... well.. you know...
Still Crunchyroll is a splendid website, and i will keep giving my support as i believe they really can and will help the future anime industry.
O and... to be honest.. i only watch naruto haha
Still hope other good anime will come.

Segregation - this topic ret large.

Well if you read the whole press release it states what specific regions it's available in so we didn't lie or meaningfully make it seem like everyone could watch it. But there was an error that I just had someone correct. The series wasn't available in the UK when it was supposed to be so you should be able to watch Black Jack now. Thanks for reporting this, not sure why no one else did.

It's a good point but hard to implement since there would need to be a special case for each country and the whole payment system would have to be changed to suit it. This has been discussed before and I think it was deemed to make the system too complicated and more prone to user confusion and error. If not done properly, it could also be abused by users to get membership at a cheaper price.

Read the thread to understand why there are region restrictions.

Short answer, no.

My only annoyance with region restrictions is that Crunchyroll always state that when they do only get the series for specific regions, they say that "They are trying to get the series for other regions", but to my knowledge they haven't done so for anything yet.

Is Crunchyroll really trying to expand the licences for series such as Yumeiro Patissiere and Sasameki Koto to include other regions, or is it just a bone of hope thrown to those who are denied something.

I understand the restrictions, and while I would prefer it if those who have got restrictions imposed pay less, I'm happy with the service so far. I just don't like the idea that CR could by lieing in an attempt to placate me.

We try to get the videos available in as many countries as possible but we usually are unable to do so. I'm not exactly sure how this works but I'd imagine it is a very complicated process to gain the right to distribute any particular series in more countries. I wouldn't say the message is a lie but at the same time I wouldn't expect this to be accomplished in the near future.

Baby steps, people. Baby steps. The mere fact that CR has obtained rights to show something otherwise licensed is a feat, in itself. Don't blame the site for viewing limitations due to your own geographically challenged situation. If you just so happen to not be in the region covered by the license, then that just reflects how small the market is in your country. Distributing anime in such niche locations has always been a challenge, but if it means anything, the efforts of CR to obtain these shows (and the increased frequency of obtaining titles, not to mention the latest ones), is probably a good sign that anime may become more and more available as the site's reputation improves. Just give it some time. I'm not making any promises... but suffice it to say, you can't blame us for licensing and its complications.

It seems we must do some reading on Napster. [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Napster#Legal_challenges]]

Pretty much the reason why the media is not licensed in your country is because (a) they don't have supporting laws or (b) there is no form of distribution support for these established laws.

Tthe corps want money for their media. Until the money is safely in their bank accounts, you will not get this media. Some countries do not support distribution of their media and are not allowed to view it.

It has been established that the internet is not free reign. ((See DMCA http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Millennium_Copyright_Act))

Basically the only way to acquire this media is to order it from another country (proxy or just buy the dvds) or resort to illegal measures that I will not endorse.

Crunchyroll cannot provide the service because of the owners of the media. Crunchyroll is merely a distribution channel and that is how they make their money.

What i would like to know is why there are so much restrictions to alot of, if not all, european country's ?
From what i can tell there hasn't been a clear awnser on that by an Admin.

I like the high def you can get here on CR but these restrictions realy tick me off.
Not to sound like a jerk or anything but this kind of make me feel as if we're getting
america's hand-me-down's on anime (specialy when it's eng dub and not jap). It may not be like that but that is how i feel right now because of it.

What is so hard for people to understand about licensing restrictions? How would YOU feel if you payed a lot of money for the DVD rights of a series in your country, only to have your sales cannibalized by a website based in another country that gives people 3 months subscription for the same price as one anime series disc? Would you file a law suit? Also, some content may not be legal to distribute in your particular country due to its very nature. It is a credit to Crunchyroll that they can offer as many series as they do to people outside of the USA.

Pull your heads in kids, this site offers fantastic value, and if you REALLY want to watch all that Americans have access to, invest in a US proxy or VPN service. Then you will be an "American" customer, and you can watch everything.

That's odd, is everything working fine now? If not, try logging out and logging back in.
