Oh yeah, sorry, well in UC the Gundam is an MS style, like a Zaku or Gaza, or Zolo. It just happens to be a design that psychologically symbolizes a defender rather than a destroyer. We all know how they are in G, as national pride. AC describes them so much as knights in shining armor. In the expanded UC, i.e. AW and CC, the nature of the Gundams is open to great deals of interpretation. To civilians in Gundam X, they are powerful and valuable, to the colonists, they are sayers of doom. The Turn A Gundam is only a monster to those who understand its power, to others, quite the opposite. This is described with Corin who sees the apocalypse in the Gundam's eyes, but Lauren would just as much use it to create a wash basin for a hospital. And of course in CE, only a GUNDAM can defeat a GUNDAM so you do the math.
