The program was launched in May to encourage purchases of certain energy-efficient air conditioners, refrigerators and television sets capable of receiving terrestrial digital broadcasting. The program, under which consumers can exchange their accumulated points for products and services, has been credited with increasing sales, especially of flat-screen TVs.
