Old C.R :

Media: Almost all anime, all k-dramas, j-dramas, t-dramas, movies, R-rated movies..ect (Yeah sure. This was great, a more collection of things to watch. But may I remind users that the media used to get "licensed" so we wouldn't get sued. I even remember users whining about so much anime getting licensed and that they're leaving C.R lol. And this was the OLD c.r. Sound familiar?)
Chat: Hectic as hell, always busy, crowded, and annoying. Still is in my opinion.
Star users: Used to donate for free, we would receive badges each month as a "thank you"

That's basically the old C.R. But the C.R that you see now isn't far off from the C.R that JUST started in 06. New line of anime slowly coming out, new users joining, new faces starting to come from the forums. It's just that people are so concentrated on the old C.R that they don't see c.r is coming back slowly and better. You're a prime example that C.R isn't dead. New users are coming and people are leaving for no reason. This place could still be fun if you make it out to be.

'My only prob with the new compared to the old C.R. was I used to come to CR to find anime I can not find elsewhere. You know the older anime that never did get licensed, and such anime that was licensed long ago, making impossible now to find it anywhere. That is the part of the old C.R that I miss. 'after they got rid of all those old anime you can not find anywhere, I really started loosing interest in the CR anime spot. Only stick around now for the Debates topics. Ps.. I was a member paying and such, but I do not like the selection of anime I had, I would not mind if they got rid of Naruto because lets face it that mindless fad is licensed and there many anime could have been uploaded still that has not been licensed. Being there really nothing much I like for the choices I stopped paying for the sight. Maby I will start up again once they get a good anime choices. At least enough of them where I can watch a 1 or 2 anime a day before I run out of anime to watch.

When you say mods participating in the forums, did that include the fact that they flamed and trolled just as much? Lol. Makes me miss people like MJ.

Yup. The heart of CR in the past was the fact that users could upload content freely, but only to the extent that the show wasn't "licensed". It worked on the loopholes in the system, and got away with a simple slap to the wrist every time CR would receive some "takedown" notice from the DMCA. Although I'm glad CR went legit - it kinda sucked having to take down stuff you spent time uploading and fixing about (but then again, I'm not a media mod, so ha!)

Chat: Hectic as hell, always busy, crowded, and annoying. Still is in my opinion.

It hasn't changed... it's still beta.

Donate for free? Hehe, just kidding.

The Old CR?

I had a different account before I created Gaia93 back in 2006, basically, things were a lot more hectic back then. There was every anime you could possibly think of, groups were active, AMV's were uploaded, the chartroom was a mess, and the forums were just plain hilarious. The flame wars were off the chart. That's when KinkyHamster used to lurk the website, good times.

But when Shinji took down everything, a lot of users were pissed and began to leave. Too bad, they're missing out on a lot of development. Now things have quite down, but only by a little. I believe the mods are way stricter, which is probably why so many users dislike us because they know they can't get away with the things they used to.

Old CR? New CR isn't all that bad

Sure old CR had more active users, anime, dramas, music vidoes, nicer mods?,active groups..etc.
Chatrooms and forums were just a nightmare, you needed a shield and a sword to enter w/o getting killed, but it was fun. Flame Wars were epically awesome back then.

But then again New CR isn't all that bad, the anime is high quality and you can actually read the subtitles. I remeber trying to read subtitles but the color blended in so much that it was hard. Did the mods turn into robots or is that just me? I remeber mods actually active in chat and participating in conversations and the flame wars. There are still flame wars around but not as much. Apprantly some of the users can't take any type of joke. Esp if you make one about Naruto. Make one about a popular anime like bleach/naruto, they'll grill your ass -_-; But the world is still young so CR is up for changes,

Theres more users theses days.

There seems to be more deleting then creating new accounts as well.

I never got the chance to meet the little booger :(
But yeah I miss you and some of the old mods. You guys even used to flame before you locked a thread, and don't deny it, ed. I've seen some of your old locked threads >:D
Glad to see you in the forums again.

The licensing thing was going too far at one point. I'm glad C.R went legit. I remember one night I spent a good hour trying to find a good movie that wasn't licensed. Every time I clicked on something good, it was always licensed. A lot of users complain saying they want the old c.r back. But if C.R would have stayed the way it was, it would have went downhill anyway since everything was starting to get licensed.

The crunchyroll now is better and sooner or later the users will see that. I just want to press the "fast forward" button though.
They need more drama and movies pronto!

The chat is down right now. Apparently it's been down for 2 hours.
Stupid beta...
The crunchyland chat is more developed than our actual main chat rooms. =__=;

In 2006 there were no accounts. You didn't even have to sign up to watch videos. Kinkyhamster wasn't around when C.R was at its finest. He missed out. Btw, I miss the little gerbil. :[

Tsh! I'm nice! >:[

The chat was beyond scary. I remember there were 6 mods all in one room and the place was still chaotic.

But then again New CR isn't all that bad, the anime is high quality and you can actually read the subtitles. I remeber trying to read subtitles but the color blended in so much that it was hard. Did the mods turn into robots or is that just me?

See first page. I also said the mods turned into robots. All of a sudden they all went inactive, did modding from behind the scene, and some went sour. But I'm starting to see some mods come back out from their busy life and post here and there. Don't worry. I'll fish them all out >:D

I remeber mods actually active in chat and participating in conversations and the flame wars. There are still flame wars around but not as much.

Flame wars are boring. I guess the people who used to flame realized that it's stupid and moved on. I know I have. Still get into arguments, but see no point in flaming.

Apprantly some of the users can't take any type of joke. Esp if you make one about Naruto. Make one about a popular anime like bleach/naruto, they'll grill your ass -_-;

Tell me about it. I made a joke about vampire knight and some fangirl grilled my ass for 8 hours straight. x___x
For 8 hours I continually had to reply to her bullshit about how hot zero is and how great the anime is compared to everything else on tv.
I didn't want to ignore her PM's either since that would be rude. So I had to suck up the torture for a good 8 hours. =__=;

But the world is still young so CR is up for changes,

Nah, new accounts get created more than deleted ones. It's just that you notice deleted ones more since they're in your buddy list, and you see nuked users on the forums. New users who create accounts join just to watch media, there are some who never even participate in the forums. Start looking at user's joined date. You'll notice that a lot of users are new.

Hehe, I'm alive - hurrah.

I believe our style of lockage would be called the "artistic flame". We don't flame out of spite - that's just not posh.
And yeah, I won't deny it. I've had my fair share of flaming here and there, but it kinda kept the forums alive and whatnot.

There are a couple of inner workings in CR that aren't exactly ideal, but I agree that CR is doing much better than before. There is sustainability and at least some sort of direction, albeit rather questionable. I'm not one to complain, though, as I think CR is doing more good than being the tight-rope jumping misfit that it was during the old days. There was quite a lot of grey area as far as the donations and "paying for licensed content" were concerned, and we even got the boot of that debate in the ANN forums (god bless them, over there). The bad taste that CR had in the mouths of the nay sayers is someone dry, now - and I'm glad there isn't much brunt coming from them these days. The public opinion of CR has been getting a little better, as of late, and I'm looking forward to people looking at CR more seriously as an alternative means of accessing asian media over the internet.

Eeh.. quite a lot of love and hate going around with the chats... I don't really feel like discussing it, but from what I know, the chat is here to stay... the same way it always has.

Yea there was so many anime we can watched, then it got licensed... then users started to complain - blah blah~ and then they left because of that.

The "old Crunchyroll" didn't have a lot of what we have now. There were no groups, no Crunchyroll chatroom, no pages, and no games. It's when Crunchyroll was strictly a forum, a place where you could watch videos, and a place to talk with friends.

Or at least that's all I really saw when I first joined on my very first account.

Uuughh... I remember back during the old days when Kyocool smushed me to the ground while we were debating about prostitution. I was a noob back then... He was a bastard, but he was WORSHIPPED and FEARED by all, so I couldn't much about it. Guess things like this don't happen much anymore.
