hmm.. please don't crack my head thinking over which of these two is better 'coz they are both the best! hehe..
ep 10 is sooo one of a kind..the 100-second call was perfect. The kei/hirono scene was unbelievably sad too. after watching it you'll have a feeling of 'WOW'..
while ep 11 is one of the most heartbreaking scene ever.. the music on the break-up part was so sad and sweet.. it's like i can feel renji's sorrow and pain.. argghhh....=) after watching it,you'll have a feeling of 'WHY??!'

The 100 phone calls HIT Me really hard. It was scary & suspenseful and i don't know. It hit me hard. BUT i loved chihiro's diary pages flying because the effect of them flying had a real emotion that i could feel.

Chihiros emotions, to me - were more evident so i guess i like the flying diary entries more. The graphics with that were realllyy wonderful as well =)

Oh man... I think this question might be impossible. If it were ep10 versus ep12, I could easily say 12. The last episode was absolutely brilliant. I was left stunned. Otherwise, it gets pretty tricky.

I think, deep down, I'm leaning toward episode ten. I surprise myself there, because I liked the story behind Chihiro and Renji a lot more overall. However, I think that ten was just so damn powerful, it deserves recognition. I mean, to completely reverse my opinion of Miyako in just 100 seconds of pure beauty and originality, is truly amazing. I really didn't like Miyako to start with. I thought she was annoying and somewhat light of brain. I eventually dropped a lot of that dislike as I learned about her past, but I still didn't exactly encourage her relationship. By the end of episode 10, I was completely for it. It was some very sugoi stuff.

Episode eleven was great, but not quite as stunning. It was more expected; I had long guessed there would be trouble with her memory before the finale. I also don't think it was quite as emotionally powerful, despite the tragedy. The resolution was far more powerful than the break up was (something that I really like about ef by the way: for once, a happy end is done better than than a tragedy. For some reason animes seem to be better when they are tragic, this manages to be my #2 and have a happy ending). I think that, despite how well eleven was done, it was only preparation for a far grander finale, and thus wasn't quite as good as the finale of the Miyako-Kei story.

If I just HAD to choose, I'd choose KeixMiyako.
It was just SO sad... I actually cried!
The 100-second call was just... just...
ARGH I CAN'T EXPLAIN IT!

To me, ep 10 was more suspenseful in a way coz i wasn't sure if he'd reach in time(thank god he did though).
But i would have to say i prefer ep 11(only by a small bit, they were both great) where she rips the pages of her dairy and they scatter throughout the town.
The novel, the dairy pages, the illness, and wanting to end it while she can still remember the way she feels, simply blew me away. At the point where Renji read the ending of the novel, i didn't even think she was going to rip the pages out of the book, hell, i thought she was going to commit suicide. I was like 'OMG NOO!'.
I guess i prefer ep 11 becoz of the turnout at ep 12. =P

Although i preferd the Renji/Chihiro story throughout, i just felt ep 10 wih Hirono and Miyako was slightly stronger. Ep11 was good (and ep 12 really turned it around into the most beautiful series i've seen in a long time). I loved the final phone call, and how it got cut short, and thinking its a sad colourless ending, when you here him shout "I Love You!" and realises hes been searching all phone booths in those 100 seconds of call time, is pur cinematic brilliance, and adds perfectly to episode 7 crazy phone calls.

Ep11 was shocking in itself, although at some point i thought she was gonna jump off the school building to end this life. But i love the finale when he goes around searching for her diary pages, the cinematography with the sound was awesome in itself.

Basically another example of SHAFT's brilliance as an animation company

Mmmm.... 10 or 11.... I'd definetly say 12 cuz it made me cry, the 100 sec(not realy sure if it were secs) time limit was suspenseful, you though he woundt say it cuz it got cut then he shouts "I love you" from behind, searching for that phone both in 100 secs... And at 11 there's the novel they wrote, the diary pages, and how she(Chihiro) wants to end it while she still rembers him(Renji). I'd say I'm more of leaning towards 11 cuz it forged the path of epi 12, which I like the most.
