Yah I've seen those plus I've seen the PC Dating Sim ones where people bring their laptop to the restaurant and have food sitting in front of the laptop while they eat with the character.

don't mind the viusal novels to much since some are well made "why the hell would you play them in public though besides the all rated ones on the psp or ds?" , the cheap ones are just sex right off the bat and well are just shit, but yeah it's the net there are things that are fun to point and laugh at..

Plenty of times I've watched animes and thought "I wish that girl was real... Or that at least I'd meet a girl like her"

It's not abnormal at all. As humans, we are attracted to other humans with certain qualities and traits. Anime/manga characters are made to have those same traits thus we feel attracted to them, same with Disney characters, other cartoon characters, or characters from books.
It's completely natural. It's just that some people cannot see past the fact that they are drawings and find that human characteristic in them so they think it's "weird".
But most people can see past it.
It would be unhealthy to try to substitute them in place of real human beings though.

Body pillows really frighten me.....

I joke around about liking anime characters more than real people, but I think I use it as a way to keep them at a distance. Even so, I do doubt any real people could match up well against any of my favorite anime characters personality wise. I also think because I've seen a lot of anime I think I am able to tell which characters are drawn in an attractive way compared to others. I am not sure if it is only me, but I can admit certain characters are pretty.

The topic is about falling in love though... I can't say I fall in love with characters. I may like them enough to set a picture of them as my wallpaper, but I definitely don't fall in love. I do think it is extremely abnormal. I understand people being a fan of a character and buying every printed item with that character on it, but falling in love is different than extreme fan mania.

Yeah, I've been attracted to girls in anime before (who hasn't?), but that's as far as it goes. You need to stay grounded in reality and realize that someone like Suzumiya Haruhi will not suddenly appear in the real world (that might be a good thing, though.)

A perfect example why...

Also, kudos to the one who started this topic. Letting "those who don't have this problem" share their thoughts and wisdom with "those who do" is a smart (and sometimes painful) method of helping the latter discern between truth and fiction.

I think it's normal, or at least it isn't uncommon. I just think it goes over the line when you don't want to even look at a person in real life, you only want to have that anime person. I think as long as they are still interested in real people it's ok.

I think it's fine to be in love or have a crush on an anime character. I mean, as long as you don't isolate yourself from reality. I admit that I'm quite the fangirl. I FRIGGIN' LOVE BYAKUYA KUCHIKI! But, that doesn't mean that I want to marry him(that's a lie... ROFL). I wish he were real.... I still like men my age, who are actually real.

Though, I wouldn't be fine with it if somebody were in their 30's and have a crush on an anime character that is under 16. That's just plain creepy. I'm 13, by the way. So, I'm not talking about myself. But, LOL. When I'm 30, still single, and at home obsessing over Byakuya, then somebody better call for help. x3

it happens
._. it is a small folder, I know. Still, if you consider the fact I've only known about Hetalia since the summer, I'd consider this an accomplishment.

I wouldn't mind a roll in the ol' hay with Motoko Kusanagi, she's got sass, and I likes me some sass

to me, it is somehow possible to have a crush on an anime character.... maybe it's because of some reason that made you like them:
sometimes, they're charismatic and attractive. and others, you we're sometimes attracted to their personalities or appearance .... that's my option
