I'll only give up Hinata to Naruto. Everyone else can go suck a lemon.

This reminds me about the topic of "violence in videogames: does it make gamers violent people?". It's all about discerning fantasy from reality. I wouldn't say it's unusual at all. I always try to empathize with the characters in the media I'm playing/watching, or at least sympathize.

So this kind of thing sometimes becomes inevitable.

I'd say it's more like "Wow, I wish I knew someone like that face-to-face" as opposed to "SHE'S REAL AND I'MM'AH MARRY HUR GUD, HUR HUR!".

I don't consider it being "in love." However, there are quite a few fictional characters that I've found attractive, grown attached to, that I like, and that I've joked with my friends about totally marrying if they were real, but my liking tends to go towards hoping they wind up with such and such other character in the series and reading fanfics to that effect. The way I see it is it's no different than liking or feeling attached to a movie, game, or book character. Everyone has favorite characters from series he/she enjoys, and people like these characters for various reasons. It's only a problem if one can't differentiate between fiction and reality, or in the cases of those few people who have actually married video game characters. If the attachment to fictional characters is so intense that interactions with actual real people suffer, then it's become unhealthy.

There's one, and this dude's sorta now like an older brother. I wouldn't say "in love" though.

I love Canal Volphied from Lost Universe so much, that thinking of her helps me get to sleep when I'm having a bad night, loving anime characters is no problem if it's a self-soothe strategy.

I recently fell in my love with my toaster. She always listens to my problems without judging me. And she doesn't constantly nag me either. Unfortunately, our recent attempt at intercourse turned out to be.....unsuccessful.

I don't think is abnormal. It happens to me every time I watch a new series XD. But I never take it serious, I always keep it in my mind on don't get them mix reality.

I don't think it's entirely wrong to have a crush on an anime character, so long as it is understood the character is not real and it will never come true. We've all had crushes on anime characters at some point.

There is nothing wrong with it, as long as we understand the fact that they aren't real .
I recently fell in love with Mihawk from One Piece

Couldnt have said it better. but imo there is a fine line between "loving or even liking" a object from said favorite show or movie. Either it be a person or idea of that person you have to make sure you dont become so involved and over infatuated that it becomes unhealthy. Nothing wrong with getting lost in a love story and wishing "what if" but just make sure you can come back from that.
