agreed, then again if you didnt choose a real woman over anime. thats fine with me. have fun in your room with the lights off and.. ewwww...

Falling for an anime character is just sad. If you must do so, why not find someone who cosplays as said character?

I can't even wrap my head around the otakus with body pillows. Why? Find a real girl/guy instead! Got trouble with that? Read the writings of Neil Strauss, Mystery, David DeAngelo, Tyler Durden, Ross Jeffries, etc., and use their PUA techniques! Far better than loving a person who doesn't even exist!

I think its fine personally. I too like some anime characters and i think its natural. Who you fall in love with is who u fall in love with. Some people love characters more then other people, and thats alright. I mean everyone imagines their fantasy date or lover and liking an anime character is kind of the same.

Some people who feel helpless and hopeless have nowhere else to turn, y'know? I feel helpless and hopeless, but I would personally never fall for an anime character even if I became abnormally desperate. It's not like I'd ever be able to talk to them or feel them or anything like that, so people who do so just end up being hurt in the long run.

Should people who fall inlove, develop crushes or likes, on or with anime characters, need to have a reality check? Do you think it's abnormal? What do you think is the cause for such a liking or affection?

IMO, I like anime (or game) characters for their personality, perhaps a bit for their overall looks. I look at them as I would look at a man whom I would like very much. If I someone real would come blundering into my life with almost the same personality as the anime character I like, then that would be a very nice accident indeed. Although it doesn't mean in any way that he-who-came-blundering-into-my-life must have the same personality with the character I like

I believe it's only normal to have crushes, or fall inlove with anime characters. It's when you refuse to let in reality that makes it abnormal. i.e., a guy falls inlove with an anime character, a girl comes along, he falls in love with the girl, then poof that's good. but if the girl came along and the guy says "No, I'd rather be with (anime girl name here), I don't want to be with any girls other than her." THAT is abnormal....

Ok. Discussion time.

Here's a weird reality twist to your post.
What if they denounce reality style relationships for anime <mind based relationships> due to fear of rising std's among the entire world? We all should know relationships to an extent of people moving on to the next one....not everyone experiences this type of relationship but there are many cheaters who don't care what they bring back home to you sadly

To me whatever makes a person happy is okay as long as it's not harming anyone else or themselves either.

I have had great likes for characters strengths, feelings in their heart and their weaknesses< i avoid the slutty characters who sleep around at all costs>. When I think of them I normally like to venture with them as good friends, <ones who will battle by your side til the end>...you know the ones that don't exist in real life lol. I will admit I do love Yuki Nagato and Sayaka Miki if either of these girls existed irl I would have married them <that's if they accepted me> bahahaha

Fear of STDs: That's like trying to avoid being hit by a car by staying home all the time!

I can't help but cringe at how sad those nutters with the body pillows must be. Here's some advice: Get laid! It doesn't matter if you're straight, gay, bi, or what--these people need some snoo-snoo!

For instance, look at this old news story: http://articles.cnn.com/2009-12-16/world/japan.virtual.wedding_1_virtual-world-sal-marry?_s=PM:WORLD

Yeah, a Tokyo man married a video game character.

Are Japanese otaku really that lonely? Even he knows that his "wife" is merely pixels and code in a "video game" (I put quote marks around it because dating sims aren't games). Why can't he just get a real woman? If he's socially healthy enough to talk to news reporters and stage a half-serious wedding ceremony, there's no reason why he can't go out and find a real, flesh-and-blood chick.

I myself once had a persona on Adult Swim's boards: Belldandy's Husband. Exactly what the name implies. This was back in '07. Fast-forward a few years later--there's still a lot of Belldandy marks who thought I was serious about the whole "real girls are for guys who can't get anime chicks" angle.

Have you seen statistics for people with AIDS alone these days...not justifying marrying pixels. Just saying some of us treat our bodies like temples. But guess if you don't mind free clinic visits jump in the dumpster and do your thing.

One thins is for sure even if they don't get any they won't grow up and be dead beat fathers/mothers like majority of world.

There are many characters I wish were flesh and blood and up for grabs, but I know that will never happen. Doesn't mean I cant still crush on my favorite guys
The plus to them not being real is you can have photos of of them all over your computer, phone etc. and not be considered a stalker

If it makes you happy to dream about having that character as your soul mate, then so be it. Who are you really hurting? If your family/friends don't like it then that is their deal,
As long as you aren't bringing harm to others, I say do what makes you happy

I think ts ok to love a anime character as long as you know your reality from Anime

oh..I like this topic! I told a friend of mine that if she ever got into anime it would spoil real guys for her...I mean they just don't measure up in looks or personality. Sure they are not real..really? But they sure do provide for some interesting daydreams.
