I told a friend of mine that if she ever got into anime it would spoil real guys for her...I mean they just don't measure up in looks or personality. Sure they are not real..really? But they sure do provide for some interesting daydreams.

Anyway, I can't speak for anyone else, but for me personally I haven't a fallen in love with an anime character in that sense. Now, as an example, I have been intrigued by certain characters like Yayoi Shinozuka from White Album. Seemingly she wanted to break up Yuki and Touya - or at least prevent them from seeing each other. What I found interesting was out of all the options she could think of she chose to be Yuki's replacement so he'd forget all about her. Really though, I believe it was more than that and that's what's so intriguing about her character. I liked her.

I mean, of course it is inevitable to have some sort of romantic infatuation with a character because as humans, it is our natural tendency to lean towards what we don't have. BUT, realize that they are just fictional players created by a wonderful (perhaps schizophrenic) artist/author with some pen and paper. HAve a nice DAy~

White Album proved to me 1) just how dead non-Key/Type-Moon visual novel anime is and 2) how dead period pieces set before 2007 are now. I got the same rage upon watching Kimagure Orange Road, Maison Ikkoku, Marmalade Boy, and Boys Over Flowers. So much of that drama simply wouldn't happen today thanks to cell phones! The least they could do is give the characters those clunky bricks! At least it's accurate to the time period! Land lines are SO obsolete now! I just can't wrap my head around it anymore, and for someone who spent the better part of his childhood through the Clinton administration, that's saying something! Even stuff from the early 2000s is starting to show its age. I cringe every time I see someone use a flip phone now.

What suprised me was how cute (especially in cosplay) some of the girls in line for the panel were. Just chatting them up I said "What could you be doing wrong? Guys basically need two things: (1) A pulse. (2) #1 is optional." Then one of the girls said something that floored me. She said "To Fanboys, anime girls are perfect. How do we compete with that?"

For fuck sake, HE'S A CARTOON CHARACTER! I myself had a persona on that site as an equally rabid Belldandy fanboy, but that was just a parody of hardcore basement-dwelling Internet otaku. I don't always go on the AS boards now, but when I do, I still see no shortage of Belldandy marks. They never cease to amuse me.

(Just because my picture is of characters of AKB0048 doesn't mean I have a crush on them). I have has a crush on girls in anime plainly because of their personality. In other words because they have characteristics of my dream girl or how I would like my girlfriend to be like (don't have one though).
