Falling in love with a character isn't that weird. You fall in love with a character for the same reasons that you fall in love with a person: the personality they are depicted to have, the way they interact with others, etc. After all, anime characters are made to model the characteristics and personalities of real people so that you can connect with them similarly.

However I do find falling in love with other things abnormal, such as objectophilia. An object has no personality, no basis for a deep relationship

I have fallen in love with various anime characters. (All girls) So I think it's fine. But lemme tell you the pain from not being able to date the anime girls you fall in love with. It feels painful... Anyway, these are two of them.
Konata Izumi (Lucky Star)

Kagami Hiiragi (Lucky Star)

And this is my current anime love interest.
