I think the people who only watch Naruto, One Piece, and Bleach are a bit close-minded. I mean, seriously. There are plenty of animes out there that are as good (better) as those three aforementioned, and yet they refuse to branch out. What I'd like to know is why. Is it because they think that those three are the most guy-ish series that exist, or what?

I know people who say "I watch Naruto! It's my favorite anime!" but then when I ask them what other animes they have seen, they say that they've never seen anything else but that and that they're not planning on watching anything else. As an anime lover, I get offended, of course. It's quite offensive for me when someone says "Naruto is the best in the world" when in fact, there are many others that don't get that much credit, and is still better than the series.

Don't get me wrong, I do watch Naruto (just not on a regular basis) and I know why they like the series. But, it's like, "just branch out, will you?" Those three mentioned by the OP are overrated, but that's because those series are being shown on Adult Swim (Cartoon Network? I don't remember) and that those series have a broader range of audience, but still. If you're going to say "Bleach is the best, Ichigo is my favorite anime character of all time!" when you haven't even seen that many is just a load of bull. I respect their choices, but... just say that you like the series instead of saying that it's the "best anime ever."

Just wanted to say Crunchy Roll had to pay for the right to broadcast the animes, thats why you need memberships for better quality no adverts etc. probably part of the contract would include advertising. Also your comments make sense, there are a lot of great animes and mangas that get overshadowed by the big 3. One of my fave mangas at the moment its shonen jumps psyren series. its totally different from whats been serialized but while One piece, Naruto and Bleach (i personally luv bleach, hate one peice, loved naruto till sasuke went all asshole and they dragged his revenge out for fucking ages) get ranked in the top 3 psyren is generally like number 100 on most manga sites. There are also some other mangas i could mention just cant think, there are to many. But you also need to consider why these mangas are popular. All 3 feature either funny, cool (or a mix of both) heroes that the readers (mostly males) will find apealling. I think also Bleach gets high views due to the creative storylines zuch as Aizens betrayal (total shock) and the evntual visard arc and Ichigos dad being a former captaon of the Soul Society (again total shock!!!) Just a few thoughts.

I personally like all 3, one piece more than the other 2 because I like comedy more than action, but I believe that they are more over exposed than overrated and thats because they're shows that are more likely to be popular than others, its all about the money. those that call themselves anime fans, but only think of these 3 when they think of anime, have no right to consider themselves fans, there are plenty of other great shows and plenty more that are just as good as these 3.

OK, well lets just say when naruto manga first began did you guys knew wth naruto was?

LOL it's just funny how people say that naruto, bleach and OP fans are closed minded. Have you ever thought that there are people out there who aren't anime fanatic's? Some people just dont have the time to watch all these anime's and rate them. And at the end of the day, It all depends on the what the viewers really like, that's what bring's them back to these 3 OVER-RATED animes.

I like bleach and One Piece (liked Naruto until it became too focused on Sasuke for my taste) I have a tendency to like the underrated series too, though. I loved TheThird, Twin Signal, Majin tantei nougami neuro, 3X3 eyes, Berserk, Outlaw Star, Zombie loan, Natsume Yuujinchou, Black Cat, heck even Gintama is overshadowed by the big three... I actually don't have alot of time usually to watch anime, but you'd be surprised on how many series you can finish over time. Granted most of the series I named were old enough to be overshadowed by Pokemon, Slayers, and DBZ in their day, but hey, same problem. The thing is, the big 3 have all been run on CN at one point or another, so more people know about them. Man I miss Toonami, at least the other stuff would get more limelight if it were still around...

Why do we keep complaining how overrated One Piece, Naruto and Bleach are? Sure they never end, but we keep going back for more! Though they do tend to live up to there overrated-ness.

Personally, I love Naruto and Bleach and I couldn't get into One Piece, Luffy just didn't pop out to me.

I happen to believe that The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is overrated and over hyped. I've seen better.

I haven't watched One Piece yet. Bleach and Naruto I do watch weekly and the only complaints I have about them are the fillers. When they stick to the main story I enjoy them both quite a bit. That said, I've found a dozen or more shows that I like better. I tend to have a lot of free time so I end up picking up new shows all the time simply because I'm 100% up to date on all the weekly shows I watch. There are better shows out there and I think the "big 3" probably are a little overrated, but I also think they don't deserve the bad rep that a lot of people try to give them.

I watch Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece, they aren't too good, but they aren't too bad also. The only reason I go back, is 1."I want sasuke to DIE", 2. "Because people watch it, which makes me wanna watch it also "talk about retarted pressure?", and 3, "I don't have any other reasons"

But I like a ton of other animes......short ones.....I like endings....

um, like Elfin lied, code geass, Chrono Crusade, uh.....ummm.....my mind is blank, can't remember any moE?

I used to watch Naruto and didn't continue watching Shippuden. It got boring to me, same as Bleach it was on hold on episode 189. One Piece on the other hand is on-hold as well but that is better than Naruto and Bleach storyline and character wise.

I watch one piece religiously (well i read the manga, anime isn't that good right now as impel down is just meh). I still read/watch naruto but i've never really like it too much. Bleach fails with it being focused on the exact same story for years. Both naruto and bleach have failed with their anime due to the animators using sometimes 12+ manga chapters on a single episode resulting in the anime catching the manga continuously resulting in too many fillers. One Piece took the DBZ root and drag a manga chapter out over an entire episode at times. One Piece anime doesn't fail as even though some things are dragged out it generally is timed currently.

I'm going to go the reverse to the opening post in this thread, he thinks The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya isn't a well known series or something. It is quite well known and it is overrated as hell, I won't go into a long rant about why the series is bad so i'll stop here. I'll go with the true underrated series. Gintama, this being on CR I'm sure most people have at least heard of Gintama as Gintama has been one of the high points of CR but elsewhere allot of anime fans have never heard or at least tried Gintama. It truly is the funniest manga/anime I've ever read/watched, comedy, parody, sci fi, action etc. Its just pro.

I don't know why people say One Piece is overrated. Allot of people don't even seem to bother with the series as i hear arguments like "The art is shit" "its too long" etc, I gotta say those statements are just stupid, the story of the series really picks up and there is a reason why it is #1 in Japan because it is that damn good.

Perhaps it has something to do with people claiming it to be #1, when it isn't:
http://www.crunchyroll.com/forumtopic-350782/japanese-anime-tv-ranking/?pg=16

That said, it appears the audience share for it in Japan is more than Bleach and Naruto Shippendun combined most weeks. So among those three, you could claim it is #1.

I think the big 3 are good animes regardless. Sure they might not be the best, but there's a reason why they have attracted so many viewers.

Overrated? Probably, but they also get a lot of exposure compared to others.

I guess there's also the fact that the big animes have big companies backing them up. The more those companies push funds; the more the animes will be known.

Also, everyone has different tastes. Among my friends, we all have different opinions on what we like the most. So "best" is really subjective.

I'm not sure honestly. None of my friends really say these series are overrated. They seem to enjoy them unless they have something against the particular series. ie, Bleach being too one-dimensional *cough, fight fight fight* I have seen plenty of animes and the big ones still hold a place in my heart.

Basically it all comes down to personal preference, so i don't get what the big deal is. There is no need to rant at the people who only enjoy this so called "big 3", personally i think naruto and bleach are pretty good. One Piece i couldn't get into just didn't appeal to me, same with alot of other anime though. (for example death note, i found stupid yet its a fairly popular anime.)

I doubt that anyone says "i only watch naruto bleach and one piece and not going to even try and look at other series". The majority of people try an anime for a few episodes and then if they dont like it they dont watch it any more, which is a quite obvious statement i know but its worth mentioning since some of you are trying to pin the popularity of the "big 3" on advertising and "budgets".

Most of the anime i watch generally is through word of mouth. A friend might tell me of a good anime so i check it out hoping it will be good, but 9 times out of 10 its a really rubbish anime in my opinion.(he really doesn't know whats good or not, i shouldn't listen to him but I'm always open to new anime, you never know might come across the new "dragonball" used to love that.)

Anyway back to the topic, the reason most people i know go back to the animes such as bleach, naruto and one piece is BECAUSE they are long running animes so they get a following and you start anticipating the next episode is going to be really good or the next arc yet still with the same characters you have gotten familiar with and i guess developed an emotional tie with. You just cant keep re-watching an anime with say only 12episodes.

To end, i hate onepiece. hehe sorry
