Whoa. Isn't Astral Projection when you can separate your consciousness from your body?

Correct me if I'm wrong.

^ Yup, that's pretty much it. Some people like to attach some spiritual meaning to it, but it's a common experience for people who have experienced trauma. I, personally, had a weird memory after figuring myself in an accident when I was a kid, where I ended up hitting my head pretty bad. I recall watching myself in a kind of "flashback" experience, and witnessing pretty much what happened to me.

Although the moment I saw myself fall, everything went black, and I began to hear a crying noise. Next thing I knew, it was me who was crying. Kinda weird experience, but not really something in my power to do whenever I feel like it.

I love these topics. 2010 will be my final year as an undergrad majoring in psychology, and I've also had numerous paranormal experiences through out my life.

My only experience of projection felt like an internal projection, so I'm sure that "projection" is not the correct word. As far as I remember from reading about these subjects in the past, this was actually more akin to a "shamanic journey" than "astral projection". It was one of the most incredible experiences that I've had, and one of the most blessed. We're really not alone out here. I find it a challenge to consider my experience in light of my psychology background, though it helps that I have had experiences both from an "over active imagination" as well as "the real thing".

One of my big hopes is to eventually help others who have had similar experiences and who need a professional who they can actually trust to take them seriously. I can tell you from personal experience that paranormal events can cause a person to seriously doubt their sanity and that is, I assure you, a frightening experience in itself.

When I was younger I made numerous attempts at astral projection, but none of them succeeded. The internal journey occurred quite spontaneously and has not occurred again since.
