Chopsticks, Cutlery, and Hands!
Posted 4/3/08
In India and South Asia, it's normal to eat everything with your hands. (Even rice with curry.)

Theravada Buddhist monks eat with their hands.

true.. it's more respectful to the spirit food that we have direct contact... we use cutlery nowadays but depending on the occasion we use our hands..

in the immortal words of husky boy: don't worry we wipe with our left and eat with our right...

CHOPSTiCK -
1. Since when did ya start learning it?
Maybe when I was around 5-6 years old. I saw my parents using chopsticks and I wanted to use it too!
2. Any Food you can't eat/take by chopstick?
Soup. Anything that isn't solid or melts easily...I guess...

CUTLERY -
1. Do you think we should use cultery in proper way in restaurants?
It is disturbing for me to see some ignorant eating in a public place w/o minding his/her common etiquette. So yes, we should all use cutlery, maybe not the formal/proper way when dining in casual restaurants, but for the sake of others who might have to suffer watching you eat like a pig. Eat however you like when you are at home.

HANDS -
1. Do you feel disgusting if you see someone eat food by their hands?
No. I sometimes use my hands to eat food.
2. What are the foods that you use hand to eat?
The list goes on...
