I don't believe the 1990s produced the best cars. If you are speaking about sports cars, that decade did create some notable vehicles. As for overall car manufacturing, the 90s certainly is not the best. There were a lot of build quality issues with from many manufacturers trying to cut costs. I believe the topic should be 'Favorite Decade of Car Engineering'
For me it shall and always be from 1950-1959, Ah yes the beautiful colors that you could pick on your car that do not exist today. Like refreshing colors that are more relaxing since back then it was about cruising and some drag racing.
The boxiness of the BMWs was just styling at its best. The e30 chassis with the inline 6 being a fantastic choice for turning into a track car.
Can't forget the FC RX7. Oh how an LT1 turns this car into perfection
No thanks 2000+ years. It's like everyone is modeling their car after someone else's. With the exception of some of the exotics, they all look the same (round and boring).
Toyota 2000GT
Nissan/Datsun Fairlady Z
Hakosuka Skyline
Kenmeri Skyline
TA22 Toyota Celica
Mazda RX-3
All of these cars have something in common that is hard to find today - Light weight / Front engine / Rear wheel drive / Manual transmission.
I like that the lightweight FR is making a comeback. The Toyota FT-86/Subaru BRZ looks very promising.
late 80' early 90' .. my mom's 89 Toyota corolla AE92 is still working fine.. that's her fav car and i like it too because it is stable and solid but it's quite heavy for me (not a power steering) 0_0
